My dining Experience tonight was Incredible my waiter Malik Aamir was outstanding. The complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip started the journey, superb followed by a tortilla soup that was to die for unique not like any other offering I ever had. The finally was recommended by my waiter the Fish Sarandeado and shrimp, the flavor of the fish and shrimp with the bell peppers and tomato fantastic, fresh unique. Walked in thinking beautiful table setting and live music how wonderful. Well it all went downhill from there. A rude and obnoxious waitress that obviously didn't speak a word of English or didn't want to. Mediocre food at best. We have lived around the border for years and this was the worst food and service. Will never go back. read more

Come on, let's face it. This is an over priced version of the fast food joint. It is the same quality and product! There are few additions and exceptions and none of them stand out compared to the fast food version. The tortilla soup was recommended but it was so salty I couldn't eat it. Well While I felt there some elements here that were good, overall I was incredibly disappointed with my experience here. I visited from out of town and many people recommended it, but I would not return or recommended. The good: bean dips serviced with chips, guacamole side was fine, tortillas were very good and the desserts were good. The bad, we were not served what was printed on the menu. Chicken fajitas were served with plain grilled chicken on a plate. We had to ask for sides of peppers and onions (which was advertised on the menu) after complaining to management about this we found out that they have misprinted menu. They know what they serve is different from what they have printed on the menu, and only gave me a 20% discount and a pathetic apology. The fajitas themselves were pretty pathetic too. Edible, but without flavor. I expected so much more from a city this close to Mexico with servers who didn't speak English enough to try to correct the order. I wanted to enjoy this place, but was tremendously disappointed. I can elaborate, but who has time. It's over, I won't go back and neither should you. read more

I went here at the recommendation of some coworkers. It wasn't worth the price for the food. I got the ceviche, which was decent, but nothing extra and definitely not worth the $18. I also got the camarones cuchi cuchi. It came with flour tortillas, which were very underwhelming and didn't taste fresh like other tortillas I've had. My entree itself was just fine, nothing great. Maybe I just had high expectations because of others' experience, but I wouldn't go back and wish I would've gone to the burger place right by my hotel instead. read more

This is probably the best "Mexican" food in the Valley. The food in this area leaves a lot to be desired. As an El Paso native, I was used to wonderful food. McAllen=not so good food. That said, Palenque Grill is the closest they have around here to El Paso quality food. The Sarandeado fish is absolutely fantastic. The restaurant's cheaper version, Taco Palenque, pretty much sucks. Their El Pollo Loco is acceptable. read more

One of my favorite places in Mcallen. Hiqh quality, authentic Mexican Food accompanied by a great service.

First of all service was great and the restaurant was packed. Unfortunately, that is the only good thing I have to say about the place. We were there for dinner and the restaurant was so loud we had to scream across the table to just have a conversation (literally). The reason it was loud was due to one of those annoying groups of employees who serenade (read:clap loudly, sing/yell) the customers who are celebrating a birthday or anniversary which was apparently every table in the place. So unnecessary. And the food was expensive for what it was, which was very bland. Chicken enchiladas, rice and beans were all very poor. I only ate a few bites and wouldn't even bring the rest home. I wouldn't go back and am sorry I spent the money to go this time. read more

Great atmosphere, very friendly wait staff and management, I had the enchiladas verde and it was outstanding.

Extremely overpriced for the quality and amount of food received. We went for lunch, the waiter was overly "attentive," despite telling him we've never been there and needed time to look at the menu; he appeared literally every 30-45 seconds asking if we were ready! Also, there was pressure to order more and more alcoholic drinks, appetizers, and dessert at the end of the meal. We ordered the fajitas for two which turned out to be fajitas for ONE! A kid could eat that portion alone...the flavor was lacking. Frankly, a fast food Mexican chain would have been better. The food does come out quickly here and you'll never wait for a waiter to get you something because their up your rear the whole time trying to make you order more things. They had live music which was decent. read more
