Yelp lists this restaurant as closing at midnight on Saturdays, and the sign on the door says 11:00 PM. However, after we were seated on the patio, staff informed us that the kitchen closes at 10:00 PM, which was completely fine. Later, when they came by to ask if we wanted another round of drinks, we were told the bar also closes at 10:00 PM.. Around 10:15 PM, while we were still seated outside, staff locked the restaurant doors and turned off the lights while we were seated on the patio. Shortly afterward, a staff member told us we needed to leave and took our drinks, even though mine was still full. The issue isn't that the kitchen or bar closes at 10:00 PM--it's the lack of clear and consistent communication. If customers are expected to finish up and leave by 10:00 PM, that expectation should be clearly stated online, posted on the door, and communicated upfront when guests are seated. The current closing times are inconsistent and create a confusing and disappointing experience. Also the guac and margarita were lacking. read more

We had such a great experience here! We started with the choriqueso and it was absolutely delicious. One of my sons ordered quesadillas and the other had cheese enchiladas--both plates came out hot and full of flavor. My husband and I shared the molcajete especial. Overall decent food, good atmosphere. Came here on a Friday night. They had live music. We ordered tacos birria, taco fajitas, and tacos barbacoa. The flavors are alright, and the meat is not bad. The complimentary chips and salsas are good. The restaurant interior is clean and spacious. The service is very kind. It took a little while to get our food, but not too long. A group of colleagues and I in town for a few days for business. This was suggested and was only a minute walk from our hotel. Score! Three of us ordered margaritas on the rocks and one a beer. They had someone playing guitar which was sort of loud but certainly not so loud my group couldn't talk to each other. I got the tacos birria and honestly even though I was starving the flavor was a little bland. It was not bad at all just didn't hit the spot. My siblings and I went to celebrate Father's Day, we ordered there botana platter and it was dissatisfying fajita and chicken were diced so small and portions were small they added a ton of brain looking meat and onions. My daughter and I had dinner at this restaurant two days ago and the food was very bland and not at all what I was expecting. I had the caldo de res that was so bland and the beef in it was cut up into cubes. The side of rice that came along with it was also bland. I came here with a friend for Sunday night dinner, and I was really glad we gave Senor Cactus a shot. It's located in a newer plaza/strip mall area and the interior has a welcoming and warm atmosphere. There's also a bar area to watch football/sports games. Our waiter was kind and attentive, and it's a nice bonus that they provide you with free chips and salsa. The chips tasted a bit stale, but the salsa was fresh and flavorful. I ended up ordering the bistek tacos, while my friend ordered the Pozole. It did take over 15 minutes for us to get our food, but I'm assuming it's because the food is freshly made. Both of our orders came with decent-sized portions and were a pretty good overall value. The bistek tacos come with 5 tacos, and the meat was well seasoned and tender. It's very refreshing that Senor Cactus doesn't make their tacos overly greasy. I tried a little bit of the Pozole that my friend ordered and according to him, it tasted very authentic and traditional. Overall, if you're looking to try a newer Mexican restaurant that has reasonably priced/authentic cuisine paired with a clean and vibrant atmosphere, then give Senor Cactus a shot! read more

I've been coming to Senor Cactus since it opened. It's a great little restaurant with a nice little Patio. This was the first time I came for breakfast and I dont know why I hadn't come sooner. The chilaquiles that I had were fantastic. The tortilla chips were freshly made on a bed of refried beans in a medium spicy sauce with chicken. I got a little hint of Chipotle in it. It also had some fresh cheese and came with 2 eggs. All in all one of the best chilaquiles in the valley. Let me tell you I've had chilaquiles in a lot of restaurants. Did a delivery for the first time and it was excellent, better than we thought it would be. The food was hot with plenty to eat. The menudo was great and the eggs were prepared they way we like. Señor Cactus may want to train the people they hire on being a professional especially when you are working in any service industry. However my second time the time I went.....the time I came to speak with manager about holding an executive company event, was detoured by the unprofessionalism at the hostess stand. Sooo good! Husband and I stopped here after finding it on Yelp. We were here for our sons baseball games and wanted to grab a filling early lunch. Husband had their chicken quesadillas and I had their bacon and egg plate. The salsa they bring to the table was delicious. The chips seem homemade and include some friend flour tortilla chips too!
