Following a tip from a fellow Yelper and a Reno foodies FB group, I came here in search of freshly made tamales. I'm guessing this might be seasonal, since there's no indication outside or on the menus about tamales, just one sign taped to the freezer case. Available only on weekends, they had verde, rojo, corn, and raja (pepper & cheese). You can buy singly, by the half dozen or dozen. The corn masa dough on the tamales was so fresh, soft, and delicious. Sauces were flavorful and mild; only the raja was spicy. Very happy with this recommendation and will be back for more! Wasn't really in the mood for something cold but picked up a chocolate-dipped banana because hard not to get something with so many delicious treats on display. Tucked away in a tiny shopping center, this paleteria could be easily overlooked, but it's definitely worth the drive! Wish I had noticed before that they're serving champurrado (seasonal chocolate corn beverage) ... I'll have to get that next time. read more

Amazing selection of creative paletas . . . gummy bear-infused, bubblegum-infused, strawberry-infused, a seemingly endless selection. We went there on the weekend for the tamales and were very impressed--the corn meal part was light and almost creamy, and the chicken and pork filling was very tasty. I liked the red the best; the cheese tamale was a bit too spicy. We still have to try the corn. Prices were very reasonable: we paid $15 for six tamales and four bucks more for a couple of coconut-and-pecan-covered chocolate frozen bananas. The shop itself is a bit small, and it's in kind of a sad, tight location on E Moana, but the tamales and sweets treats are worth it. As a bonus, you can check out the cats hanging out on the wall facing the parking lot (we saw like four of them). The girl who helped us was very friendly (and patient with us as we considered all the different options they had on offer). Great service all around--will definitely be back. read more

My family was craving desserts and we ended up here. We weren't even specifically craving for Mexican dessert/snacks until we saw the good ratings of this place and reviews. The last time I smothered myself in hot Cheetos with cheese was in High School, so this quick trip was well worth. Who's a tajin lover? My husband is and he ordered himself a mangonada while I ordered myself some cheetos locos and fresas con crema. My husband would rate his mangonada here a 7 out of 10 while I rate my orders a 8 out 10. The only minuscule flaw my husband mentioned was that they put too much of the tamarind candy that made it hard to chew but overall it was good. I didn't want any jalapeños on my hot cheetos when you're suppose to but it was still good, and as for the fresas con crema, I never had it before, so it was interesting to eat strawberries with milk and yogurt ( I think that's what's in it). The service here was friendly and quick. The environment was very clean, it felt very comforting inside, almost like walking into a fresh, warm bakery. You should come try this place out if you haven't so, it won't disappoint. read more

I loveee it! I was visiting out of town and really craved for a raspados and they have so many options here and also so many ice cream. It seems like they make the ice cream themselves? But I had one and it tastes soooo good. I got the strawberry yogurt one. I live off of raspados during the hot summer months while at work. If I see local vendors nearby, I'll make it a point to stop. This business has several locations in town, and I've never had an issue with service here at their Moana location. Mangonadas are another summer favorite. Who am I kidding? It doesn't matter what season it is. Their ice cream and paletas are worth trying. I'll be back next time I'm in the area. read more

First, I come here often because they do sell delicious things. But this experience was horrible. We couldn't finish what we bought, which was $40, because they almost gave us chamoy soup. This comment is for the owner, not for you not to try this place. I understand if she went overboard with the chamoy the first time, but she did it with both tostilocos that were inedible. I was always driving by this place and decided to stop in there today. The music was blaring loud and they couldn't understand what I was trying to tell them nor could I hear what she was trying to say. Then come to find out she didn't speak English. Another lady came out and told her to turn the music down. There were a bunch of popsicles but there weren't any signs on what all the flavors were. I just ended up picking something that was chocolate and something with strawberries. I also got some ice cream and some strawberry fruit drink. The food and drinks were very good. The service from the one lady was good. I just didn't like yelling over the loud music. I almost walked out when they didn't turn it down. I don't think I'll be back. Loud music and language barrier. They were very nice though. I guess I'm stuck with Baskin Robbins which is ok with me. read more

We asked for a raspado and it was simple no flavor as to what we asked for. Paletas have too much food coloring.

I miss the old owners they made everything with love and just perfect. Now the new owners don't make the Mangonada anywhere close to what I am use to. When I use to get them they loaded it up equal amounts of ice cream nice size ripe mangos and filled it to the top now it's little ice cream, overly big pieces of mangos and barley comes up past the lid. It has gone downhill will be finding another place to go. read more

Tonight we got a few items for takeout for a little Sunday treat. We ordered an esquite and some fresas con crema. The esquite was okay. Can use more mayo, cheese and less Chile. The esquite had more broth than corn though the flavor was great. The fresas con crema were delicious! We have come in the past and had a great experience with esquites. Not sure what happened today. The popsicles are very good however we have noticed their freezer may be set too low and their popsicles are not immediately available to eat. You may have to thaw them out for 5-10 min before they are not so frosty and hard. Customer service is good! read more

The popsicle/ice cream bars are good. Most of the kids that work here do not speak english, but they work hard to understand you and I have always been able to point and get what I want. I didn't think I would like it, but now I go back a couple times a month. The strawberry cream is good, the coffee is good, the mocha chocolate is great. I LOVE this ice cream shop. I come almost everyday for the watermelon mixed w lime agua frescas. Sooooo good! refreshing & tasty! Seriously I go daily! The homemade ice cream bars are beautiful as well as delicious. My kids & I love them. There's a strawberry ice cream bar with a little condensed milk in the center- Sooo good too!!!
