Everything I have tried is always really good, this last time I got a macadenoia with vanilla ice cream and pecan milk on it. The only thing I could say is the ordering is a bit confusing and I feel like the menu could be more specific. I always feel a little lost ordering things but we make it through it and love it every time. Great fresh fruit popsicles! It costs about $2 for a popsicle, which is pretty cheap. I tried the following flavors: - Plum - delicious. Taste and texture actually reminded me of Chinese red bean popsicles (very similar taste/texture). Very interesting how frozen plum texture turned out to be quite similar to red bean. - Mango - very strong mango-popping flavors, amazing if you love mangoes - Guava - interesting texture, not much flavor, wouldn't get it again - Coco - clean refreshing coconut flavors - Strawberry - delicious. There was also a frozen actual strawberry piece at the bottom of the popsicle, which was really cute to see. I kinda wished that all other fruit popsicles would come with a piece of actual fruit at the bottom too, but after I bit into that frozen strawberry piece, I realized that the popsicle tasted better than the frozen raw fruit. The strawberry piece, when frozen, was a bit too tart, and I preferred the blended frozen strawberry taste of the popsicle, which was sweeter and softer/not so tarty in taste. I can see how some other fruits would not taste as good if frozen. Regardless, it was still a good popsicle. - Watermelon - my favorite flavor so far! I absolutely love the frozen texture, which is kinda "bubble-like" when frozen and melts in your mouth with refreshing and very bold watermelon flavors. Soooo good. read more

How has this business been here for 20 years and it is just getting listed on Yelp (by me)? Located across from C.E. Rose Elementary and next door to El Guero Canelo Meat Market, do not confuse this with "La Michoacana" on the corner of Ajo and S. 6th Ave. The owner says that for a long time, they were the only ones in the area, then other similar businesses started popping up around them. OK, it looks like an old, dumpy business on the outside (see my pic of the store front), but it is clean on the inside. The parking lot is just the dirt grounds next to the store. The service and treats are wonderful, though. I wanted the fresa con crema (strawberries and cream), but she was out of the strawberries. She gave me a (huge) sample of what strawberries she had left. It was muy delicioso! So good! I then ordered, on her suggestion, an escamocha, a parfait of fresh fruit with sweet cream and topped with granola. Delicious! I then ordered a "small" nachos. I ordered the small because she said the large could feed 3 or 4. So I got the small with extra toppings like red chili shredded beef, avocado, sour cream, and jalapenos. When it came out, my eyes popped out--it was HUGE. Three people could have eaten this, easily. Good thing I ordered a small. This, too, was tasty. If you are in the area, try this place out. I posted pictures of her complete menu. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. La Michoacana is a great place to stop for raspados and treats! The drive thru can get packed especially on those hot days or at night but it's well worth the wait. It's a little pricey but if you got it support your local businesses. They make everything fresh here. Ordered a large Guava Raspado with Ice cream it was soo good. It was packed with so much guava and tasted extremely fruity. The large was a nice size and was super refreshing! Also got a strawberry paleta con crema. I liked that they added a whole Strawberry at the bottom it was delicious! This is a great spot to have on the South Side and the drive thru makes it worth the stop, especially nowadays. Okay, not sure why Yelp deleted my last review, it wasn't even a bad review or anything, just detailed my experience. The snacks I ordered were good. I ordered the tostielote , a paleta con nuez and an agua de melon. All of which were very good. The agua de melon is my absolute favorite here, since it's hands down the best agua de melon outta every Mexican snack shop I've been to. The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is because every time I go to the drive-thru, it is the longest wait I've ever experienced for any drive-thru. The lines will literally take anywhere from 30 mins to an hour depending on how many cars in front, and it'll only be like 6 cars in front. For this reason, I have tended to avoid this place and just go to different Mexican snack shops in the area that are just as good and not as expensive either. I will say, I haven't walked into this place, I've only used the drive-thru, so I can't say if it takes a long time to receive your order while your in the store. read more

So excited this spot just opened! The shop is bright, colorful, and fully stocked with a million different homemade sweet treats: paletas/popsicles, helados/ice creams, licuados/milkshakes, raspados, chocolate covered frozen bananas plus savory snacks like tostilocos and cocteles de elote. I think everything is made in-house and it all looked delicious. I had a fresa con crema paleta (strawberry with cream) and it was delicious and full of big fresh strawberries. They have cases full of paletas, helados, and prepared fresh fruit toppings to peruse and a giant menu with all the options and prices clearly marked. There's indoor seating and a drive thru, bring the whole fam. wow... asked for a small banana split with vanilla and chocolate when I realized they gave me strawberry only. I was already heading home in the freeway. when I called to let them know they told me tio go back so I could give then this banana split back and they could replace it. I said I couldn't. I live in Rio Rico and I'm already on my way home they make this right the next time I'm in town then she said we are not giving away stuff. and I said it's your mistake. We were beyond excited to find out - finally - that La Michoacana had come to Tucson. We quickly got ourselves over there to get as many of our favorites as we could carry! So far we have had the coctel de elote, pico de gallo, limonada and some paletas. Everything has been perfect, just as we remembered. The staff has been busy! Every time we go there is always a line but they move through it very quickly. We have received great service so far, even as busy as they have been we don't feel rushed to make up our mind. Lastly, they don't have a phone but I'd read they respond to Facebook messages so yesterday we tried it and sure enough within less than an hour I found out they were open. Long name, yummy snacks! We came on a Saturday afternoon and after looking at reviews and pictures, I had my heart set on the Chimango. Apparently you can get it as a raspado or like a pre-made frozen mango snack so I opted for the premade one. Its mango pretty much frozen and put into a cup with tajin and chamoy and a tamarindo stick. It was pretty good, but it was frozen solid so it took me a bit to eat it. But the real winner was the banana split that my husband ordered! You can choose from whatever ice cream you want, including the Mexican vanilla ice cream that's yellow and extra yummy. Highly recommend that. Plus, on top you have all of these options! Way more options than the American banana split! They have galletas (which are like cookie wafers in English), granola, cherries, whip cream, sprinkles, chocolate sauce and maybe something else I'm forgetting, but my favorite part was the galletas. The strawberry ice cream was also really good. The atmosphere (according to my hubby) looks like like the neverias in Mexico, everything is pink and carnival like. Horrible service! I drove by and thought I'd stop in a give this place a try. I'm not very good at speaking Spanish but I can understand it 100%. I walked in and was not greeted. I then said hi and smiled at the employees. After that I was then greeted. I ordered nachos but I'm not very familiar with raspados. So I asked the girl what she recommended I order to drink. She looked at me like I was crazy. I then explained to her that I never lived in an area with raspados so all these drinks were pretty new to me. Still she's staring at like I'm from another planet. I then asked if there was anything sweet she'd recommend...nothing...I then ordered the only drink I had ever had from a raspado place. After failing to get a recommendation and ordering the only drink I'm familiar with, the girl asks if I'd like strawberries and pineapples. I smile and say yes please. The older lady next to her says in Spanish "make it however you want to". I am only in Tucson because of being a military family at the AFB. I was so excited to try this place out but was truly disappointed. As I approached the counter to get my drink I smiled and said thank you only to have a response of a cold Gracias in response. It kind of seemed like they were pissed that I didn't speak Spanish. Anyways, I would never recommend this place. Especially since there are so many other raspado places just down the road from here.
