It probably was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had.... being a former waiter I have seen alot. We had a 6:30 reservation. There were probably 6 tables upstairs with one bartender/server for the upper floor. Our food didn't come out of the kitchen in order with the other tables. We finally at 8:20 said the food is coming out or we are just walking out. It came out at 8:23. Food was not bad but literally by this time no one was hungry! The bartender was nice and explained they were understaffed but 2 of the reservations for the evening had been made days in advance. They were aware of people coming in. read more

We live right around the corner, so we were excited to see a new restaurant in the area that was trying to have a food point-of-view outside of Chinese, BBQ, or Mexican food which saturates that part of town. The Pros: Nicely decorated new restaurant feel, and the server was nice. We sat outside on a nice night on the second-floor balcony and enjoyed that. Some of the food was very good, including the snorkels app (fancier tater tots). The Cons: They were out of our first few choices of food. Wife ordered this, and they were out, wife ordered that, and they were out. Want a rice side, they were out. I ordered a beer; they just ran out just that moment, go figure. Want this sauce.....too bad, guess what?....they're out. At 8pm on a Friday and your top menu items are out of stock? As someone who spent their career in Inventory, this seemed to be poor planning. The server might have saved herself some heartburn if she told us up front what they were out of, cause the list was significant. My wife ended up getting a steak and fries (not the more tropical themed food we came for and wanted because they were out of stock), and I got the jerk chicken and coconut shrimp combo with fries. We waited upwards of 45 minutes from order for the food to come out. And while my wife's steak was good, along with the jerk chicken and shrimp I had, the fries were not even room temperature....they were unfortunately cold. For that price point, fries should never, ever be cold. The server never asked if we enjoyed our food, and no hint of a GM the entire time ever checked on us either. Probably because they knew and were afraid to ask. Also while I did like their take on jerk chicken, it's diverts from the original pretty significantly. It was not cooked using any wood for flavor, and the sauce was more sweet BBQ than actual jerk seasoning. I will say the coconut shrimp was my favorite, but just needed more than four medium to small shrimp. Overall, I know they are new, and it was maybe an off night. But they have some kinks to work out. We may try them again but are in no hurry to do so. read more

We ate here for the first time. What great food! There were four of us in our party and we each ordered something different. We all said we would definitely return! My entree was the coconut shrimp. I think they were the best I've ever had. Delicious!! The service was wonderful as well. We also lived how the restaurant was decorated and the patio was fun as well. We had read some great reviews of Palm & Paddle and loved the Caribbean offerings. Tried it for lunch today and the food is amazing. I could not finish my jerk chicken bowl. Service was very friendly and attentive, although they were not very busy for lunch. They have two floors with a bar upstairs. They have two outdoor seating areas. The waitress says it gets pretty busy in the evening. I would definitely go again and would definitely try it in the evening. Great ambience. read more

I was so excited to eat here for the first time! I didn't tell my wife where we were going, so it was a surprise for her. We were seated on the upstairs balcony and waited too long for service. When our server showed up, she was very friendly and helpful. We ordered our selection by pointing to it on the menu and saying the name. She told us it came with two sides. We ordered our sides and asked that the soup be nearly boiling hot because that's how my wife likes soup. The food was delivered in a reasonable time, but after the food runner sat it down, I realized it was missing so many things. The menu says that the Mango Habanero Chicken Island Bowl is, "Tender chicken breast slices grilled in our Mango Habanero Sauce and served over Island Rice topped with grilled fresh pineapple, Seasoned Black Beans, cucumbers, avocado, Flame-roasted Corn, and pickled red onions. Drizzled with more of our Mango Habanero Sauce." Our meal had no pineapple, no black beans, no cucumbers, no avocado, no flame-roasted corn, and no pickled red onions. The chicken was barely even warm. The soup was barely warm. I went inside and found our server tending bar. I told her we didn't get what we ordered. She said she'd be right out to see. A few minutes later, a different woman came to our table. I assume she was in management. Her people skills were lacking. She made me feel like it was my mistake after I explained the issue. I had to explain the issue four or five times. Every time I explained it, she would ask questions that proved she wasn't really paying attention to my explanation. When she finally understood the situation, she had our food replaced in a reasonable time. Again, the chicken was barely warm and the soup was barely warm. This time, however, the order included the right items. The taste was off, the temperature was off, and the mood of excitement and anticipation was lost. My wife only had one bite of soup and only two or three bites of the meal. I tried to eat more but eventually felt like there could be bacteria or food poisoning in food served at such a low temperature. We left with our meal uneaten. I paid the bill, and then we left and went somewhere else for dinner. The reviews I read before going painted a glowing picture, so I was shocked by the reality of what we experienced. read more

We are a military family in town for a family weekend to relax and try new things. We arrived around 5:00 and from the outside the place looked like it was closed. Upon entering nobody greeted us at the door. After waiting several minutes we had a server take one look at our family (we have four kids) and he sent us upstairs to have a "great view and ambiance". We took the elevator up and when the doors opened to an empty room with a bar, we asked to be seated and a mortified looking woman told us to go back downstairs because we would interrupt their important meeting. The impression I had was that nobody wanted us to be in the restaurant with four kids. There is a kid's menu so we were surprised by this We went back downstairs and the server reluctantly sat us and then quibbled with someone else about who had to take our table. Overall a horrible first impression. We were told it was happy hour which meant half price appetizers but only a limited amount of specialty drinks. No wine or beer included. The server brought us a happy hour drink menu, told us it was new and he had never seen it before. There were no prices listed on that menu. We chose to get several appetizers to let our kids try some new things. They arrived hot and were pretty good. The snorkel tots were unusual and good. My husband and I ordered the recommended jerk chicken bowl and it was okay. Overpowering sauce that wasn't my favorite. His food had a hair in it from the kitchen. They did remake his food and discounted the meal 10% and the server apologized. When we got our ticket all of the appetizers were all listed at full price even though we ordered everything during happy hour. When my husband talked to the server there seemed to be a lot of confusion. We were told the manager is new and has never managed before, the kitchen staff was slow, the system is old and doesn't work. When my husband asked about the manager we were told there wasn't one on duty. I can't see this place staying in business. We watched several lost people trickle in and get mixed massages about seating. Some were told to seat themselves and others were escorted to tables. Inconsistencies across the board. Messaging and menu were not clear. Specials and pricing should be clear. I appreciate wanting to offer something new and unique but service and quality are so important and almost rejecting potential customers at the door is a guarantee someone would leave and not return. read more

I stopped by because it was conveniently next door to my hotel and the menu looked interesting. First and foremost, the hostess was chronically absent (maybe distracted by other responsibilities?). I waited for her almost 10 minutes. I sat on the first floor and watched multiple other parties arrive with the same experience... standing around waiting for the hostess. Once seated, service was fine and food was prompt. Sunshine Shrimp - delicious! Plump, juicy, well cooked, well seasoned. And the serving size was ample. Mango Mojito - also very tasty, but I couldn't really detect any alcohol. And I am usually very sensitive to it. Ahi Tuna Island Bowl - the strangest combination of flavors and ingredients. The environment is certainly versatile with a light, airy indoors; a large adjoining patio; and a balcony upstairs. Many walk-in patrons had to wait outside & given menus to peruse because the waiting area(?) is vastly insufficient. We had no wait to be seated but were there early with reservations. The waitress was extremely pleasant but apologetic as they had only one bartender. In fact, our cocktails, though appealing on paper, were not fresh & not delivered until after we received our appetizer, shortly before our main courses. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as to coordination as many eateries are short-handed. We shared the jerk chicken nachos which were tasty & plentiful for our table of 3. Our entrees included: Rasta Pasta (characterized as "too sweet"); Jerk chicken (excellent flavor); and coconut shrimp (panko breading a tad heavy yet flavorful). The portions were ample & sides nicely paired. While the jerk chicken entre was flavorful, I prefer not to fight hastily sectioned, sauced, bone-in chicken with silverware. I attributed the general "sweetness" of the dishes to liberal use of coconut products, though I could be wrong about this - but not the sweetness. I really wanted to give P&P a higher score but struggled to weigh the service properly with the food. This is definitely more of a Jamaican restaurant than broadly Caribbean. Our table's judgements about Palm & Paddle were polarized - either liking or disliking it - but I think we agreed that we'll give it another try with different menu choices. read more

Dry skinless boneless chicken breast was served topped with cheese which was not listed in the menu. Someone with an allergy could become ill.
