I tanned here once, a year ago. Paid for a block of sessions, and "froze" the account. Not so much. They started charging me monthly. Went in to close the account and they asked what I wanted to do with the balance. They told me they'd hold it available for me. Today I went in and was informed I'd "redeemed the balance when the account was closed in December". Redeemed, how? I asked? There was no refund. "No it was redeemed through sessions or products". Yeah, no. Now I'm out that money. I'll tan elsewhere, thanks. Word to the wise: get those promises in writing, y'all. read more

My husband and I wanted to try spray-on tanning because we're both pale ghosts and I can't tan if I even try (have before with disastrous consequences). What I appreciated was that when we went one of the girls took the time to really explain the whole process of MysticTan and what it would do, really talked to us about the different colors and took the time to give tips and suggestions to make them go on evenly and last longer. That one-on-one attention was nice! On that first experience I would have given 4 stars, but since I've been back they've been a little pushy on the up-sale items. If I say I'm broke and can't buy them, I really don't need to know that I'd be saving $17 if I bought them anyway, you know? Just kind of off-putting even if the lotions and such are super helpful. I have a basic membership, I go in a couple of times a week and haven't had any issues with employees or beds. I definitely think the beds could use a deep, annual clean (under the glass panel) but I'm not butt hurt over it. I went in last week when the system was down, they offered a free updated upon my next tan, it was awesome! I really wanted to like this place. The membership works at all locations and the hours of operation are great. However, I walked in to Planet Tan wanting a cheap, basic membership, and I felt so pressured by the sales reps to get the more expensive package. Even after opting for the more expensive package, the sales reps kept trying to upgrade me to an even more expensive package. I got talked into buying some ridiculously expensive lotion when I first signed up, and then every time after that, the sales reps would try to get me to buy another expensive lotion for my face. I got so tired of the constant sales pressure that I asked to cancel my membership. I couldn't seem to get anyone to agree to cancel my membership and no one responded to my phone calls or emails. I eventually had to rely on my credit card company to block Planet Tan from auto-billing me each month. As far as the beds, they're in pretty good condition and have always been clean. The beds for the two cheaper packages seem like the light bulbs aren't changed too often. The beds for the expensive packages are almost too intense that I can't go back for a week after using them once. Like I said, I really wanted to like Planet Tan, but I'll be avoiding it going forward. read more

Spoke to a girl on the phone who told me they offer specials on Monday for $10: One spray tan cost $10. So I drove across town and when I got here they said that special is no longer being offered. The new price I was quoted was $25 for one spray tan. I then saw their yelp special listed here, and it says 19.95 for one month of unlimited tanning. The problem with that is it does not include spray tanning. You get one spray tan for that price - 1. They are very misleading and their sales associates keep trying to upsell you on things. Very used car salesman-ish As you can see by the other reviews this place has some serious problems with being consistent in pricing AND customer service. If you have a membership and you go to the Gaylord and Preston planet tan and the lady at the front desk with the pink sparkly nails and attitude is there then you just need to leave. And you better not have any questions to ask her because it is a complete and total inconvenience to ask her for anything, even help. I was tanning in a bed for the first time that does not turn on from the inside, instead it was connected to the wall and I was unaware of this. I asked her about it and she treated me like i should just know and was totally confused at why I was asking her to help me. By the 3rd time I asked her to help me she rolled her eyes and stormed down the hallway. When she got to the room i was in, she started the bed time instead of showing me the button like i asked, taking away from the tanning time that I pay for. Regardless of the minute that I lost of my tanning time, I would never want to have her as an employee of mine. This place is huge - good looking staff (not so important but it helps ;) Clean beds? You betch! That is very important.....I don't want to have to lay there thinking about who was there before me sweating all over the place. They have multiple tanning packages that start at 20 bucks a month and go way up. I got the 20 a month package and they threw in a couple of tans in the nicer beds and a spray tan (I'm not saying the beds I'm using are gross or anything, they are just not the newest.) 37.50 spray tan?? My Experience was so- so. As people were coming out they were complaining about the beds- one said this was her 3rd time to report a fan not working in a room and it was still not working. The poor girls seemed frazzled. My husband said he paid $75 for 3 spray tans as a gift for me and that the first was supposed to be ultra premium based on what the salesgirls said. All they gave him was his credit card receipt. I went in (not knowing this) and they asked what I wanted. I got my usual spray tan. When he asked if I got this ultra special thing I was confused. I got my normal spray tan. I told him as long as he did not pay more than $75 for 3 tans it was ok. He said he paid $75 but they told him he was paying for 2 and getting 1 free... That was not right. I had been a member of PT since they opened. I had cancelled my membership as well as put it on hold for numerous years. My last cancellation was March 2020. I just realized Planet Tan NEVER cancelled my membership and continued to bill me. I know for a fact I cancelled my membership even though their electronic data does not show it. Corporate was zero help to this longtime client and only offered to refund 90 days or 25% of the $1269 dollars charged. Very frustrating! When you know the procedure to cancel your membership so this doesn't happen and then the charges continue, it is very frustrating. All PT says is, we don't have a signed electronic cancellation notice. Again, zero customer satisfaction here with this expensive incident! Look elsewhere! read more

Always have an issue at this place. They never honor the sessions they say they will comp. They had messed up a couple times on packages I purchased and said they would give me two free sessions to make up for it. Said they would write it in the notes. Last time I came in I made sure to ask if it was still in the notes - the guy said yes he saw it in there. Of course when I come to use one now magically there's nothing in the notes. This is not the first time this has happened. GM (I think her name is Krista) would not do anything for the situation so she gave me the DMs (Ashlee) number which I will be calling after the new year (since she's on vacation right now). They have also upped all their prices and the 8 min stand up I used to do is now $50 per session (from $30 before Thanksgiving). Just totally not worth it. Kept trying to talk me into an unlimited package but I really don't tan often enough for it to be worth it. I literally go only a couple times a year but I will just be skipping it now. There is nothing special about this place where I think it's worth that and the customer service is a mess. Last time I came in there was also large clumps of hair floating around in my stand up which I can't imagine was cleaned very well. I have only had that happen 1-2 times though. GM was also a little rude but nothing too crazy. Basically told me it would be a waste of time to call the DM but I asked for the number anyway because I for sure feel like I was cheated out of these two sessions. read more

Manager was super rude when I called about my billing. I called in may about my account and was told I would not get charged unless I came in. I never got an email about being charged in June and she argued with me. She told me I could call corporate and wouldn't give me a number. Told me to look it up then I said okay thank you. This place is a nightmare. They have stolen so much money from me that I could of bought my own bed by now. They have very unethical practices. Do whatever they can to get you to buy specials then they just disappear. One manager says one thing then another says something else. They never keep people in the same location long. Just recently got my first tanning membership ever and I am so glad I chose to Planet Tan! Everyone that works here is super sweet and welcoming they walk you through everything. I love the tan I am getting and it's so quick to go in the room and tan and leave! If you want a good tan, at a good price, good atmosphere, and clean beds I would recommend to come here :) They can be a little too much when buying the lotions but that is there job, but they do have a great variety to chose from! The tan I am getting is such a pretty color and I just love it here! read more

Cheat me once, shame on you. Cheat me twice, I'm a former customer. First 10-pack I only got nine visits. "You ran out of time," whatever that means. Second 10-pack I got seven. After telling them I travel and was told when I purchased them the account can be put on 'hold', they still cut me short and didn't give me as much time after the hold period as I had prior. Makes no sense as who cares if it takes 3 months to use ten visits? Must be a ploy to get you to just keep purchasing visits because EVERY time I was there they told me there was a better deal and I should buy a different package. I don't know what has happened in the last couple of month there at the Frisco location other than the people from the McKinney location now work there and it has gone down hill. I live two miles from the McKinney location and when I first went to sign up I went to Mckinney. It was dirty and the people where rude so I didn't sign up. Than one day after work I went to the Frisco location and I was shocked at how clean it was and how friendly everyone was. I signed up on the spot. The people working there always took the time to say hi and where very friendly. Than a few month latter around the end of May beginning of June 2014 the people from McKinney started working there and in no time at all I was just as disappointed in them. They never want to clean beds and seem to always try to get me to downgrade to avoid cleaning. One time they actually tried to upgrade me and told me I would get a better tan if I did and when I said no just put me in a level 4 bed she said well we don't have any available you should do a 3 it will even out your tan. I said no just clean that room (the open / dirty Level 4). I canceled my membership 2 weeks latter the new people are rude and lazy and half the time they are just messing around when I went in. My wife still maintains her membership but as an example of their rudeness today she took a picture of a flyer in the room that said 2lvl upgrade for 3 month for 69.00. My wife asked if it was available and the person just said you can have the 45 day upgrade or the end of year upgrade for 99. my wife said but I am interest in this one is it also available and the employee just said you can do the one until the end of year and my wife said I just want to know if the 3 month one is available because if it isn't than you should take it down but can you just tell me yes or no and the girl just walked way. I hate giving them one stars because the used to be awesome but with the new people there it is all they deserve. Now they suck! read more

I'm not one to normally write a bad review but this is the one exception. I went in this past week and am happy with how my spray tan color turned out, yet I am not happy about the unsanitary condition of the machine I used. When I stepped out of the machine I immediately noticed that the bottoms of my feet were brown from someone else's previous use of the machine which had not been cleaned properly or at all. Love this Planet Tan! All of the staff are helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about all of their products. Sometimes when you go to tanning places, the staff are stuck up and snotty girls-- but the girls that work here are awesome. They know you by name, which makes you feel like a valued member, their beds are always clean and you hardly ever have to wait. Yes- they try to upsell you products that are outrageously priced, and sell you their promotional items, but like any other place of employment--that is their job. Don't be fooled by the difference between planet tan and palm beach they are owned by the same corp. when you cancel, they will continue to charge your card and tel you it will take two weeks for reversal. When I signed up I was given the VIP treatment, and that is saying something because most young people working these days don't pay much attention to us senior citizens. If you are like me you remember places where you get nice service, from a friendly person, and don't feel like you are bothering the employee. And what surprised me even more is when I went back a few days later for my first bed tan the staff were just as nice. In fact, I mentioned the need for a guy type of bag to carry my lotions and one of the staff members said the company doesn't sell them any more but she would check with corporate to see if they had any more in storage. Now is that customer service or what?!! All I can say is if the staff at Planet Tan in Frisco make this old guy feel special they no doubt do it with everyone. Awful place beds are dirty as usual so I brought my own cleaner. 7 years ago i tried to cancel my account, they put a freeze on instead. Being a teen I never checked my account to find out I had been charged for a whole year without tanning. Gave them another chance for my wedding last year. Same thing ive been charged $8.25 a month since august 2016 & when I signed up this time I told the guy TREVOR that I wanted my plan CANCELLED in august. I finally went up there again in december to get it CANCELLED AGAIN & kept the reciept. Just to get my january bill of $8.25. I will never give yall another another chance. Im a hairstylist & i will get the word out but baised on your reviews looks like your doing that yourself. Have another wonderful year screwing people over!!! read more

I'm a fairly new member at this Planet Tan, however I really like it. The location is GREAT, the salon and all the tanning rooms I've been in have been clean and in order, the service selection is HUGE and the staff is VERY friendly and helpful! I haven't met a single staff member who hasn't been really sweet - and kudos to Planet Tan for hiring younger staff members (I love it when high school and collage kids get the chance to get out in the worklife and get some experience, it's character building :-D )!! Of course they want to try sell extra stuff - I've got the all inclusive membership level though - but that's part of the service. AND not once have I had any one of them been rude about getting a no. This is one the best tanning salons I've been to and I'll stay a member as long as they keep up the good work - which I'm sure they will for a long time. I have been actively searching for a new tanning salon, as I am fairly new to the Frisco area. I read most of the reviews on this particular Planet Tan prior to coming in. I decided to give it a try. When I arrived, I received the most exceptional customer service. The employee who gave me the tour and rundown of prices/memberships (I cannot remember his name) was extremely informational and friendly. I have read all of the reviews regarding the employees being pushy on sales and as a former sales associate for a big tanning corporation, I have to say I completely respect their sales approach. They are simply doing their job! I was never pushed into buying a more expensive membership. However, I did it anyways simply because it was a great deal! I also bought a top notch lotion in which I received a discount. The sales associate even tossed in a free spray tan for me! Because of my experience in the tanning industry, I am very educated on the equipment. With that being said, this Planet Tan has amazing beds and I highly recommend this location. I'm giving this place one star because there's not a zero star option...I asked them to cancel my membership and somehow it ended up just being frozen and I have been getting charged $8/month since!!!! They didn't inform me of the monthly charge or that they actually didn't cancel my account. They conveniently left that part out. Along with that, when I was actually tanning at the salon, the employees were extremely pushy. One of them grabbed a sample packet out of my hand and said "No honey you want the bottle not the sample packet"! When the bottle was around $140! I've never been pushed so much to spend money at a place. I've been coming here for awhile now and most of the workers are snobby and entitled. Today, I was in the stand up bed and they put the sign up that said it was clean and they lied. There was other people's hair flying everywhere and chunks of other people's lotion on the glass part. It is absolutely disgusting. Drive to the next location. This one isn't worth it. The staff varies between stuck up, plain rude and clueless. Brook is all three. They lack basic customer service skills and they attempt to force you to upgrade your membership and/or buy their overly priced lotions. I bought a $150 lotion from them, then two weeks later they told me it is "old, no good, there's better..." They have the ability to discount things, give a free bed upgrade and alter membership prices, but it's all based on if they like you or not. Every customer is NOT treated equally. I wish I knew the girls name who stood behind the counter on the phone and carried on a conversation with her boyfriend about how she thinks she has a yeast infection while I stood there waiting to be checked in. Or the time they were talking negatively about a customer who was in the bed while everyone in the check in area could hear them. Or when they argue over who is going to do check in and who is going to clean beds. Or the "manager," Kaylee, who always looks like she just rolled out of bed. All examples of unprofessional business and conduct. This location used to be great in the years past, but as of now, I would not suggest it to my worst enemy. read more
