Myself and four of my friends went to the Decatur Alabama location. When we were done and had left the lady working at the front desk called me and my friends back into the salon and accused us of stealing a couple of pumps of tanning lotion that was on the counter. She called her manager and the manager told us we were to pay for the lotion of have the cops called. We asked to see the video footage of the theft, she then says well there isn't any video footage one of her regular customers told her. We were banned for something we didn't do and was not shown any video of any of us doing such a thing. We would have gladly paid for it if the allegations were true and actually shown footage. Really happy with Palm Beach Tan and the service they provide. There's rarely a long wait, and even during peak times, any wait is usually just a few minutes--especially if you're hoping for a specific bed (seems like everyone loves the same ones!). The beds work great, and it's nice to see that the bulbs are replaced consistently across the board--unlike some other places in town where you can end up with mismatched results. Lotions can be a bit pricey, but you're not pressured to use them. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and quick to get everything cleaned and ready to go. I was looking to purchase a month of tanning and I only had cash on me, I dont have any cards, I was told I could not do that without a card for autopay monthly. The price was 50ish for a month(with a card to put on file) but I could pay for a single visit in cash. 24$ and change. I really needed some color so I took the one visit but I won't go back. The quality of bed was great. The vibe was okay except for the ridiculousness of requiring someone to buy more than they want. I wouldn't want autopsy even if I chose to go more than a month. But if I couldn't reach the color I want in a month then something is wrong. They lost that 50$ one or two times a year. read more

You would expect that with the highest level beds all the extra amenities in the beds would function properly everyday. The aroma and the misters. But the misters just shot water in my face and the aromatherapy never worked. My tan lasted about a week after I stopped going. And I never got real tan to begin with. read more

So after the experience I had I contacted the company to explain how awful it was. They apologized and canceled my membership and said they would give me a full refund and also offered me a free spray tan just to give them another chance. I thought they were so nice and understanding. Until they didn't refund my $56. I had to start a dispute with them through my bank to try and get my money back. It's been a month and it's still going on. I never went back not even for the free spray so as of now I paid $56 to be sprayed by a clear liquid that gave me no results. Watch out for these people when you cancel your membership. If you cancel past the 24th of the month you WILL get billed for the next month regardless since it is direct debit. Also, check your account for their billing system sucks and I was charged for the following month, so 2 months charged against my account with only one month refund! read more

If you are going to do this..that is, join a tanning salon, ONLY get the $14.95 unlimited tanning a month..no upgrades, no high and mighty 90 dollar a month upgrades of overpriced lotions. Only get the $14,95 deal, Yes, you get the older beds but they still tan you just fine. With 30 days in a month you can go every day for 50 cents a session of once every 2 days for $1.00 a session. Just be sure to utilize your membership or it's like throwing money away. They might try to talk you into one of their upgrades or fancy higher, ridiculously priced memberships that can reach 90 dollars a month but don't bite. When I went in to cancel the auto draft I was told it had to be done before 25th so I would have to pay for another month. They just conned me into the auto draft I'm sure to meet a quota. I only lived in Huntsville, AL for a few weeks before our move to Florida. While in Alabama, I decided to tan before going to beach here.. I was impressed with the cleanliness and design of the building. The quality of beds was also very high. I started showing color pretty quickly and was very happy. However, in customer service I'd give them a D-. To begin with, I saw the same girl atleast five times in a row, she also opened my account, and every I came in she would ask me if I had an account, it was a little annoying when I had just spoken to her the previous day. I also felt like the people at the front desk were understaffed, trying to help multiple people at once, it just got confusing. Which, in their defense, it was consistently busy when I went. They just seemed a little to busy to answer my questions or even show me where to go. (For example, they just say "Bed 12", and had no idea where to go, so then was rudely told something like "last door on the left.") It kind of felt like I was uninvited and unwelcomed to a party for only very pretty very rich tan girls. Which was a bummer for the self confidence. Now to the main reason that I am unhappy with Palm Beach Tan. When you sign up, the monthly fee must be drafted out of a bank account. Then the account is continuously and automatically billed each month until you cancel. When you sign up, they make it sound so simple to cancel! LIES. It's an unbelievably prehistoric process. First, like I said I was only in Huntsville for a few weeks, so I moved. Bad Plan. I called multiple times to cancel my account only to hear the phone continuously ring during regular business hours. Understaffed? I think so. So, by this time I've been drafted another month of tanning, even though I live hundreds of miles away. $43.87 that I will never see again. So finally I get to talk to a real person at Palm Beach on the phone who tells me that I cannot cancel my account over the phone because "They need my signature." She told me to fill out a form online. I tried that, and it was a failure too- the submit button didn't work. (I tried on my laptop and on my iPad.. both failed.) By this time I was angry to say the least. I called the customer service line of the company. Guess what? They didn't answer either. But I left a voicemail and was called back.. She told me I have to mail in a letter to the Alabama office with my signature and birthday before they would stop taking money from my account. Have they ever heard of email or faxing? Guess not. Pretty convinced they just want me to forget so they can draft my account, yet again. IN SUMMARY: If your super pretty, rich and tan, they'll probably be nicer to you than they were to me. At least that's the attitude they seem to have. And if you don't plan on tanning forever, expect to jump through hoops to cancel your account. If you don't live in Huntsville, tan somewhere that lets you buy packages by the month or week or whatever. read more

I wish I could give negative stars because this place is a huge scam. I cancelled my membership and they continued to charge my card for 4 month after. Then I called to tell them and the manager Geri, said it would stop and that I would need to come in and sign a paper to get my refund. I didnt have time go sign the paper for a refund but then the next month they charged my card again. So I went in and talked to Geri and she got an attitude with me like it was my fault my card was still being charged after canceling. Then as I started out the door I overheard her mocking me. The equipment is fine, and most of the staff is nice, but there is room for improvement. As sunless is becoming increasingly popular, there are still way more sun beds than sunless options. On a busy day, they will allow you to check in and not provide an estimate on how long you'll be waiting for a spray tan. I've sat for upwards of an hour waiting to get sprayed due to this. When you walk in and see a bunch of people waiting, you don't realize what percentage of the people are waiting for sunless booths or tanning beds so it doesn't occur to you to that the wait will be so long. Another negative is that you have to physically cancel your membership in person. Even though you could sign a document and email it to them they refuse to take it and will require you to come in. Just for clarification: I arrived at 1:30 in the afternoon on a Friday and didn't get out until 3:00pm. The delay was due to only one booth being in operation, a fact that was not relayed to me, I didn't hear anyone else being told while I waited. read more

I started going to the location on Whitesburg last month because of their 14.95 special. I had educated myself beforehand in what to do to achieve the best spray tan. The girl who signed me up was knowledgeable in her job and explained everything thoroughly. She was very nice and displayed wonderful customer service. I was a bit confused but I blame that on myself as taking in a lot of info at one time. I was over all pleased with the spray tan, the facility, the customer service and the price. Even though I let them know that it didn't work at all last time they never offered to refund. Twice I wasted my money on it and let them know. They are good as far as quality goes. But their employees are ridiculous, and so is their automatic drafting. Warning: They will screw you over. I had been a customer for a little over a year, and one Friday I went in to tan. Well, I'm already signed up for automatic drafting (meaning, the money is pulled from my bank account to pay for my tanning automatically at the start of each month). That Friday I went in, apparently, they hadn't pulled the money from my account yet. The girl at the register said, "Would you like to pay on your accoutn today?" I kind of thought that was fishy but thought maybe something happened where the money just wasn't taken out. BOY - WAS I WRONG! After I had handed her my debit card, paid my $49 for tanning, tanned, and went home, I stopped by the bank. Two hours later, I had been charged an additional $49 for my membership fees. I had been charged twice by them, basically. So, I got my bank statement and went back up there the next day, showing where automatic drafting hit the bank, and where I was charged double. I was told the problem would be fixed, and I had to fill out paperwork, which I handed back to the manager, and she had to/was supposed to mail in to corporate to get my money back in my account. Then, SIX weeks went by, and STILL no money had been refunded back in my account nor a check sent to replenish the double charge. I said something about it again, and brought it to the manager's attention, and she just brushed it off. So, after that day, and me bringing it up again, I cancelled my account. I was still charged for the next month of tanning too. AND a year later - still no refund from the company, or a check sent in the mail. Scam artists to the max, but still not as much as a scam as SunTanz or whatever is down the street. I'm sticking to my local tanning bed now, where I'm NOT charged double, and then LIED to. My experience with palm beach tan on Whitesburg Drive in Huntsville Alabama was negative to say the least. I went in for a spray tan and it seemed like instead of explaining what to do after my spray tan was complete and how important bronzers are the girls seemed like selling add ons were more important than customer satisfaction. I woke up the morning after my visit ORANGE. Not just a little but like Charlie and the chocolate factory, Oompa Loompa orange. My boyfriend keeps singing the Oomp Loompa song which is actually how I feel right now. Which might be funny but given the situation is not. Devastated , since now I'm going to the beach like this, and we are getting pictures made. I tried to scrub it off in the shower....didn't work. I went up to the location and was basically brushed off,..saying that I should have showered twelve hours after the spray tan which was not explained to me the day before and my hands and fingernails were more orange than my body. My legs were unevenly splotchy , I didn't get that, but I do know when I was in the spray bed big drops were hitting me , not just fine mist. Also, if bronzers are the the way to go to keep from turning orange that should have also been a point that the girls should have explained , that is a huge point that I would have liked to have known. Maybe I should have known bronzers off set orange tones but I didn't understand that any spray tan place that is reputable would not heavily emphasize the importance of bronzers. Given that's their job to explain to customers what the outcome of a spray tan might be. If I good give zero stars I would. read more

I'm pretty pissed after my visit today. Only my 3rd time ever visiting a Palm Beach Tanning Salon. I was told, upon sign up (Whitesburg Drive, Huntsville, AL location) that although I signed up for the level 2 beds, I was given a free upgrade to the level 3 beds for 3 months. SWEET! I was completely ok with that considering I was pretty much forced into buying tanning products I don't need in order to sign up and I spent over $80 on a friggin month's worth of tanning which is RIDICULOUS! (That's two month's worth of gym/tanning memberships here in Alabama.) I walk in today and am informed I only got 2 upgrades, meaning I was only able to use the level 3 bed, TWICE. PERIOD. But of course, I was informed I could pay ANOTHER fee to upgrade my membership for 3 months and still get charged $40+ a month on top of it. NO THANK YOU. I also told the girl upon sign up that I will not use beds where I can't turn the face tanner off. Because I don't tan my face. She said ok, that was fine. I was put in a level 3 yesterday and a level 2 today where I couldn't turn the face tanner off at all. And today, the bed only blew extremely hot air, the speakers didn't work. I feel completely ripped off and will be demanding a refund tomorrow. And the whole "The last day for cancellations is the 25th of each month" thing isn't going to fly with me since I signed up on the 27th. Needless to say, I'm livid. Your workers are liars and are way too pushy. I will never be back once I get my refund. read more
