I am the type of consumer, who sells for a living. With that being said. If I walk into any business. And you're going to sell me something. You better be proficient about your product. Tanning, for me has always been a touchy subject. I had questions. Amie is a professional. She answered my questions. She made me feel welcome. She listened to what I had to say, without disregarding my opinion. EVEN if I was wrong. She's a gold mine for this company, and they are lucky to have her. The tanning beds are good quality. Majority of the reps/workers are very kind, helpful, and hard working. I sadly was coerced into buying a package I did not want; the service I received was 100% unfair and I basically paid for 3 months worth of tanning and only got 1 month. The rep/manager left out so much pertinent info (fine print), rushed through unfreezing my account before I even knew what product or services I wanted to move forward with. Their products are so overpriced it's awful. This will be my last month tanning unless they make their wrong, right. I think it is best to tan locally and back away from corporate companies moving forward. Local companies go our of their way to provide excellent customer service and customer retainage. read more

Worst place I have ever been to. It takes 10-15 to even tan because they are trying to hard sell you like cheesy car salesmen every time you tan. Never a quick process. They lie about tanning packages and what you get and then act like they never said that. People quit/ fired weekly so whoever signs you up won't be there next month so good luck getting what you signed up for the next month. I have never see a tanning place where it is ran by meatheads high pressuring you in buying stuff. I mean I heard one guy compare the tanning lotion to a Lamborghini. For god sake it's tanning. Relax and let people tan. If I was a girl I could imagine how uncomfortable it would be every time you walk it. The beds are good when you get what you pay for. I would NEVER go to any location run by palm beach. every time i walk in they never let me just go back and tan. i have to stand there for 10 minutes while they try to sell me that days deal of the day. when i dont buy whatever it is they are pushing that day, they are rude. i have literally been begged by one of the staff to buy something so they could win a sales contest. at one point someone tried to sell me something and the other employee said out loud "dont even bother trying with her" and walked away. As if their prices arent high to begin with why would i want to buy something else every time i walk through the door. go to planet fitness to tan even if you dont work out, incredible beds and staff and its only $20 a month for level 5 beds! read more

This is an update of a previous review. After I posted my original review of my negative experience with Palm Beach Tan, I was contacted by the company. They were extremely apologetic and very anxious to do whatever possible to fix the situation. Since my spray tan didn't work last time, the district manager promised to come in and personally ensure that my experience went perfect. This experience, compared to my last, was wonderful. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Both the district manager AND the store manager called and apologized. They went above and beyond to make me feel like they truly cared about my experience, and they both wanted to make it right. The manager gave me a very thorough explanation of the spray tanning process using a Versa Spa, and I felt confident that I had enough information to ensure a flawless tan. It was nice to have someone personally familiar with the process walking me through the steps because he was able to provide additional tips and insight. The tan turned out wonderful. I got a level 3, and I am very happy with the color. My only note to others is to leave it on as long as possible. I feel like the suggested four hours does not really give it enough time to develop. I got mine at 8:30pm last night, slept in it and I will rinse this afternoon. (I only washed my face this morning.) However, it is a beautiful color and not orange at all. I think this was an instance of a great company that simply made the mistake of placing a new employee at the front desk by herself without the proper training. I appreciate the excellent customer service and efforts ensure a great follow-up experience. I will most certainly go back to this location in the future for my spray tanning needs. I went here for a spray tan right before a wedding. It turned out awful!! My hands were orange like an Oompa Loompa! The manager who checked me in was more concerned about trying to get me to sign up for a monthly tan package than instructing me properly on how to use the stand up spray tan bed! After speaking with friends who tan on the reg, there should have been complimentary lotion in the booth to put on your hands so that the orange color did not appear. Palm Beach tan, you should invest in this lotion for your clients! The rest of the tan looked good though and lasted for more than a week. I would recommend if there was a way to stay away from the Orange hand syndrome! read more

I went in for my very first spray tan that I have ever had in my 49 years. It was 5/27, my birthday AND my daughters graduation. The associate helping me wasnt sure as to what products I should use and she went in the back to ask for guidance. After conferring with her coworker she returned and my $15 coupon spray tan then became a membership, primer and additive purchase of well over $100. I figured well its my birthday so may as well splurge. I went in the back and got ready for my tan. All went well, the machine was pretty cool and easy to use. I stood in there until it made me leave because I still felt really wet and sticky. I looked in the mirror and i had a thick streak running down my shoulder, I touched it and all of the color came off of the spot I touched. I went up to the front and showed the associates, they both appeared shocked and stated they never saw a spray tan do that before. They told me to go home and sit in front of the fan and it should dry. I went home, sat in front of a fan for an hour. It was still sticky and coming off on everything. I couldn't even get dressed. I had to take a shower and scrub it all off and then apply my self tanning mousse instead. (jergans is awesome) I contacted management who refused to refund anything but the membership fee and cancel the subscription. I was charged full price for the failed session and the additive. Be prepared to spend 45 minutes here due to sales pitches. It doesn't matter whether or not you're a paying customer- if you don't buy a package, you'll be talked down to and dismissed. I've bought single spray tans multiple times over a couple years because I only need them for special occasions and still whenever I go in for another single, I'm borderline harassed to buy an overpriced package. The way the staff roll their eyes and talk to you is extremely inappropriate. I'm still a customer. the employees are also always backtracking everything they say whenever you ask a question. Nobody seems to really know what's going on. I wouldn't sign up for a membership here even if I needed one out of fear of giving this company my information. The whole place has a MLM vibe. -p.s. it's bad business to try to sell so many extras on a spray tan (booster, primer, etc) by saying your tan won't look good if you don't. read more

I went in about a month ago and had never been to a salon with so many options for beds. I paid a little more than I'm used to for tanning, but it's WORTH IT! Raven was insanely helpful in helping me pick a package, lotion, and getting me the best deal possible while thoroughly explaining everything. *Edited on 2/21/2018 - I went to the salon yesterday, and the store manager, Shannon, could not have been more wonderful. She acknowledged the miscommunication and took full responsibility for the error. She even appealed to her boss one more time for permission to fix things and apply the charter member price I was originally offered. He, once again, said no. So, I did go ahead and cancel my membership. Shannon was very understanding, and I want to stress that the staff in Lakewood has always been friendly and welcoming. I'm leaving my review at one star and went through with my cancellation on principle. It's disappointing that upper management does not trust individual store managers or allow them the leeway to fix PBT errors and retain good clients, especially when it's the store managers who know and deal with clients every day. read more

Palm Beach Tan is ok. It is kind of expensive but you get what you pay for when you tan. I had difficulty understanding the first person explaining the upgrade process to me but Taylor was really great at explaining it. She also went over the spray tan with me really well and it came out flawless. She is super educated in all their beds and has helped my alabaster skin become golden brown without burning at all in about ten days for a wedding coming up. She's so friendly, knowledgeable and always smiling. She keeps me coming back to Palm Beach Tan. read more

Some of the staff is rude and overly pushy to the point that it's inappropriate. Some certain people think its my obligation to hand over my money every single time I go in there which I understand it's your job to sell... but to act annoyed is a bit rude and makes me feel uncomfortable to be honest. Most of the staff here are fine, more than fine, very nice, remember your name and sweet. That's not the only thing though I decided to cancel my membership for money purposes which I feel I need to not explain to anyone even when Aimee is being pushy and tries to tell me with an attitude that "That's not the best bang for my buck and to just put the account on hold." It's all about tone and attitude. It makes me not want to buy anything when she acts like that. When she did explain it though with an attitude might I add I did think about it still because that did seem like the best option put it on hold and then come back but then I decided on no because she said "So like your never going to go tanning again" in a clearly annoyed voice and in my head I thought not here that's for sure!! Its a shame because I loved the products that you guys had, most of the staff was respectful, and the place is very clean and nice. I will give Aimee that she is a hard worker, she is always in there and always doing her job but she needs to do a better job of reading people and understand when they aren't interested it's just that and to let them tan and move on. Not to be so annoyed and pushy when I say no. Also, I ordered four upgraded beds I had two left and I was told twice that I could use those until May 3rd. So I finished the rest of the month in my non-upgraded beds and then I planned on using my upgraded beds until May 3rd I was reassured TWICE that I could do this. Well turns out when I went in today that the two times I had been told that I could do this it was by new members... so I guess just my loss. I would have been fine with that but I could have used the upgraded beds before the month was up instead of going in the lower beds. Just a shame, lost a customer for stupid things!! Good clean high quality beds and polite staff...only negative I'll say which I see has been said before so I definitely endorse it is every time I check in I have to stand through a 8-10min sales pitch! I get it, I admire your knowledge your staff has on your products and wanting to upsell but literally every time I'm in its never just checking in its...did you know this lotion is 20% off, did you want to upgrade your package you pay almost $50/month for the next one up? Spray tan? Primer? It's seriously uncomfortable, I'm not going to interrupt the girl but geez....just let me tan! So I have been a member for years and yes, they can be annoying with their overbearing sales...but I get it, that's what they do! The only other time I took issue with an associate she was on the phone and remained on the phone long after I walked in to tan. She simply ignored me until she was done on the call (which lasted for a couple minutes). She didn't excuse herself from the call and say she'd be with me momentarily...nothing. While that incident was some time ago my recent gripe has sent me over the edge. I went in, there were a few people in line and obviously the beds were busy. I pay a premium to get into better beds but they were full so instead of upgrading me (again been a member for over 10 years paying monthly for a service I maybe use once a week and more typically use twice a month) they downgraded me. I was in a room so small I could barely move let alone undress and with a bed that had seen better days. What??? I pay for this???? No more! I am cancelling my membership after seeing the light! They also closed down the location I used that was closer to my home so that too is a negative. read more

I wanted to try out a new place to tan so I decided to stop by since I live close. Well for starters, the guy with the Johnny Bravo haircut is super hot. He gave me a tour. Showed me how every bed worked. He was really thorough and asked if I had any questions. I was interested in tanning lotion and I had no clue about any of them. He went through each one and told me what would work best for me. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends! Also the beds are freaking awesome. read more

I've never written a review before but I had such a horrible experience at Palm Beach Tan I felt others should know about it. On 12/26/2015 I went to the salon twords the end of the night, I asked the girls to explain how the "free month" worked, she explained to me that I had to pay a $20 start up fee but that my first month was technically free since there packages start at $40. Which of course left me confused because it's advertise that their level 1 beds are $20 a month but either way i felt like $20 was a fair price for a month of tanning so I proceeded with the transaction. I tried to pay her in cash and she told me that was fine but that I still had to give her my credit card to have on file. This was also weird to me because I've been tanning for years and I've never had to put a card on file but I reluctantly did it anways. My card was charged $23 after taxes and fees. (I was also charged $4.75 on the first because I started my account at the end of a month) She then spent the next 10 mins trying to sell me lotion and when I declined she told me what room I could use, never offering me a tour or even offering to show me how the beds work. From then on the experiences only got worse. Every time I walked in the associate would spend 10-15 mins trying to sell me $80 and above bottles of tanning lotion or trying to get me to upgrade my package before I could tan. It got to the point where I would set extra time aside for tanning because I knew the process would take an extra 15 mins for them to try and sell me lotion before I could tan. There was a few day when I walked in and they were too busy harassing someone else to buy lotion to bother with me and those were my only few relaxing tanning experiences. I obviously decided I would not be coming back to this salon again and when I went back and read their extensive contract it said I had to cancel my account by the 25th of the month in order to not be charged on the first. On the 25 I explained to the managed that I wanted to cancel my account and after 10 mins of him trying to talk me out of it he processed what I thought was the cancelation Nd told me that if I decided to come back there would be a $7.50 fee which I said was fine because I never planned to come back! When I got home and read the cancelation paperwork I realized that he did not cancel my account he froze it and added me to their stay and save program which ment that they would charge my card a $7.50 fee until I decided to come back. At this point I was enraged, I was so upset that my boyfriend decided to call and speak to the manager. He explained the situation to the manager Anthony who told him he understood and that if one of us could stop by the salon before his shift ended at 7 he would personally tKe care of the issue. My boyfriend called the salon at 6:30 to make sure that Anthony would be there, and when he did the the associate working explained that Anthony had left before her shift started at 5 o'clock but that if we could stop by before the close of the business day she could take care of the issue for us. Long stor short I had a horrific experience at Palm Beach Tan and would recommend to that everyone just go down the street to Max Tan. Palm beach Tans has a very confusing policy and unprofessional pushy staff. read more
