THE ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant is on the water with bar seating and white cloth table dining in several rooms. If you're looking for seaside dining Pirates Cove will suite you fine. THE FOOD: Our appetizers... My French onion soup was made like a traditional French onion soup with plenty of melted cheese and oodles of onions. There were plenty of mussels bathed in a delicious white wine and butter base for my brides mussels appetizer. Our entrees... My seafood platter featured a small serving of white fish, which was nice and juicy, two small stuffed shrimp, which were quite tasty, two scallops made properly (not under cooked and slimy or overcooked and rubbery). My brides shrimp scampi featured 5 small shrimp over a bed of linguine. The dish was well made with hints of garlic and butter in the balanced cream sauce. The dessert: Our caramel cheesecake dessert was creamy and rich. THE SERVICE: It's always a challenge for a server to serve large parties, but our server did great. Delivered our drinks in a timely fashion watched over us for any needed refills and clearly explained any questions we had. THE BOTTOM LINE: As always with my reviews, the "customer so what" would I return is complicated for the Pirates Cove. My answer... probably not. Why not if the food was prepared properly, the ambiance was fitting for a seafood restaurant and the service was fine? The answer lies in serving size, price and add on charges. I don't mind paying premium prices for a premium meal but Pirates Cove charged $40 for a seafood platter that should more realistically be called a seafood sampling. At $36 My wife's shrimp scampi should have featured large shrimp instead of the small shrimp she received. And, finally, the add on prices which included a 3% service charge and a whopping 21% tip. I don't mind tipping heavily for good service and our server would have probably gotten 25% if it was my choice. However, I HATE having a restaurant dictate what I'll tip! I understand mandatory tipping for a large party but I've never seen it set at 21%! As for the service charge, it was placed on every bill whether you paid with a credit card or not. One of my guests asked if that was a credit card fee (which I hate as well) and was told if he paid cash, our servers would take that fee off. How many people didn't know enough to ask that question, and end up paying that fee when paying with cash?? I hate underhanded trickery like that and discourage it by not returning. In summary you'll have to ask yourself before dining at Pirates Cove, is the food, ambiance and service quality worth the rest? If it is, enjoy. As for me, I'll skip it. There are too many other great seafood places that will provide quality dining, great service and atmosphere without the unwelcome luggage included.

This tiny park is located at the east end of Cove Road where it meets the Intracoastal Waterway …read more It is the kind of small waterfront park you see in Stuart that looks like it was going to be a house lot but the city somehow managed to save it for a park. The park only has three picnic tables and a dirt parking lot. Although the view is stunning, the real reason to come here is to launch your kayak. This park is part of the Martin County Paddling Trail. If you have your own kayak you can launch from the sand beach and head east across the 3/4 of a mile intracoastal to reach the St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park which is the northern tip of a barrier island, ending where the St. Lucie River meets the ocean. It is one of the few undeveloped barrier islands on the east coast of Florida. This state park can only be reached by boat but it has restrooms, a free tram, picnic shelters, a 3,300 foot boardwalk, and an unspoiled hidden beach, From Cove Road Park you can also paddle south to Pecks Lake or north to the St. Lucie Inlet. You can have a lot of paddling fun launching from the park but note that the small parking lot fills up fast.

If you interested in checking out the park, it is pretty close to the Florida landmark restaurant, Tropical Acres. This is a large park located on the Dania cut-off canal. Once you enter the park, if you walk to the left there is a picnic pavilion, mangrove cove, and a fishing dock and platform. From the fishing dock you can observe a number of birds that have made this wetlands their home. There is also a smaller fishing dock in this area as well. Native plants were added to the park to eliminate the need for irrigation and to attract butterflies. While walking around a saw a mango tree dropping its fruit. When creating the park it was designed to preserve the Oak Hammock ecological system found here. The right side of the park has an archeologically significant midden that dates back to the Tequesta Indians. This site is named the Holbinger archaeological site because for many years the land was used for tomato farming by the Holbinger family. A midden is a kind of garbage dump that was used by the prehistoric Tequesta Indians. You can see the elevation of land that was a result of them discarding materials over many years. An analysis of the animal remains found in the midden revealed it was from between 500 B.C. and 1513 A.D. A midden can tell archaeologists a lot about the people who lived here until Spanish occupation in the 1500's wiped them out. I really enjoyed my visit to the park. It is great for bird watching and I enjoyed reading all of the signs throughout the park. Dania Beach was the first city in Broward County and there are signs that tell about its history as the tomato capital of the world and its famous antique row, as well as signs about the butterflies and plants in the park and the manatees that can be found in the canal and mangroves. There is so much history and beautiful nature here. Another thing about the park is that seems to be directly at the end of the airport runway for Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport. The planes taking off were so close that I am sure they could see me clearly. It is fun to see but I don't think I would want to live in this neighborhood.

This is a popular spot on the weekends, and some folks bring out tents and equipment for the whole day. This is a perfect first-time snorkeling spot for beginners, because the water is so shallow. We swam with a sea turtle this time. Even not at high tide, it's still a lovely way to be on saltwater without waves or seaweed. It seems that dogs and fires are welcome.

The boardwalk was closed for repairs so we had to walk thru the sand with our stuff (coolers etc). Part of the beach was on a small like hill, you had to jump down to get towards the water which was annoying. The beach was filled with seaweed. I did like there was a lifeguard on duty. It wasn't crowded for a Sunday. Probably won't be back to this one.

When I sold my house they decided to keep charging me for dues for the following year that I was clearly not going to be there for. Then they wanted to charge me late fees on that and nickel and dime me. When I called to speak with them about it Kelly Iceman would not let me speak or get a word in and just kept cutting me off. This is unacceptable from a "top club". This place is obviously all about the money. I will however say the golf staff is great and I did enjoy that.
