I have had the honor and privilege of working/talking with the owner David of Palm Desert kitchens. Actually I have spoken with him a few times and have a lot of respect for him. I am doing a remodel in the bay area and I went into his storefront and asked him some questions and he could not have been nicer and really shared a lot of good ideas and thoughts that helped me a lot even though I was not going to be using his services at this moment since I was already working with my contractor in Northern California. I wanted to pass this on because there are very few people that are willing to help you even though they aren't part of your project. Zephyr Cabinets and Palm Desert Kitchens: Five Star Cabinets & Five Star Service What started out as a "simple" remodel of a circa 1970s kitchen turned into a full-blown complete home remodel. But that was our fault, because as we saw the quality of the materials and workmanship slowly transform the kitchen, we decided it would be a shame to leave the rest of the house as is. Palm Desert Kitchens and Dennis McAllister were patient with us every step of the way, and the design input from Dennis was so spot-on that at some point in the process, we just relinquished all control to him and let him call all the shots. From tearing out two walls in the kitchen, to handling the engineering for the new support structure in the ceiling, to securing the permits and dealing with the city inspectors, to installing new floors, to remodeling all the bathrooms, to choosing the new lighting and fixtures, to the sound system (inside and out), to the new audio-visual, to the new appliances...the list goes on. There's nothing that Dennis and his team cannot do...and do they did, as they remodeled our entire home. If we could give him six stars, we would! We met Dennis at his showroom in Palm Desert and immediately fell in love with the Zephyr cabinets. They were not cheap, but nothing of this quality is ever inexpensive. We were immediately sold on the craftmanship of the Zephyr cabinets as well as the way that the finished product allowed for the grain to line up in between cabinet and draw gaps. This is an amazing product, and it's the little things like this that make the result worthwhile. What a huge difference to walk into a kitchen and have the wood grains all lining up from top to bottom, regardless of how many drawers are in between! When the final product was unveiled, we pretty much made the decision to move to the home full-time and no longer treat it as a weekend house! Was there a hiccup? There sure was...two of the panels were not the correct size; however, Dennis and his team quickly arranged for replacements and had them installed in time for our move. It seems Palm Desert Kitchens only knows "yes" when asked if they can do something. If we ever move again, we'll for sure lean on Dennis and his team to handle any contracting that we need. read more

I just had an awful experience at Palm Desert Kitchens. I dealt with Dennis McAllister, whose card reports him to be the owner. He is the antithesis of kindness, and rather unhinged. When I walked into the store he was on the phone, I explained I was there to look at a particular type of cabinet and color style. He was cordial, but as soon as he heard I was not making a purchase in the Desert, rather looking at what my husband, who is in Houston ( I am in Rancho Mirage for an extended period), was going to purchase, Mr. McAllister walked away from me, very shortly after that, he asked me to leave, saying he had customers. I walked to my car and phoned my husband, who is in Houston managing our extensive home re-model. My husband was in touch with a corporate contact for Woodmode/Brookhaven cabinet manufactures, as well as a local Houston representative regarding kitchen cabinets. Both the corporate office, and the local rep, were the individuals who suggested that I go to the local Palm Desert rep and look at the selections my husband was considering, that is how I found myself, sadly, at Palm Desert Kitchens. My husband made a call to Woodmode explaining the treatment I was receiving, they expressed embarrassment, Mr. McAllister was contacted by the Woodmode, and I was told to go back into the shop, I should have no more trouble. Well, that was not the case, Mr. McAllister, evidently upset that he had been contacted by the corporate office, or the reps in Houston, was ruder than before. He became belligerent, told me he did not want me in his store, he did not want me looking at samples, he ran up the stairs, appeared to be talking to someone, possibly himself because he came down the stairs and aggressively told me to leave, that I was rude, or he would call the police. Now remember I was simply looking at cabinets and taking photos of samples. I have been in customer service for over 20 years and have NEVER been treated so harshly. I understand that we all have bad days, and often our anger is not meant for the person it is being directed towards, but this is beyond the pale. No one should accept treatment like I was given. On a side note Angel, McAllister's associate was very kind, McMillian did not like that either and told her to stop talking with me. read more

Palm Desert Kitchens is a "one-stop shop"--they coordinate the demolition, construction, cabinet installation, granite fabrication and installation, tile installation, plumbing, and electrical work. All of the guys who worked on our project were smart, friendly, hardworking, and very good at what they do. They went out of their way to accommodate us since we were living in the house during the construction, cleaning up after every day's work. They also kept us fully informed about their schedule and activities. We've done a lot of remodeling over the years. This project was by far the most pleasant remodeling experience we've ever had. I worked with David on my kitchen which included the design of the kitchen and the cabinet plan. I can not say enough good things about how my kitchen turned out. It has been two years and I still love every minute I spend in my dream kitchen. David came up with an innovative design to open up the space, and I made some tweaks to the plans throughout the process. As mentioned in other reviews, David was very patient so that I knew I would have the perfect kitchen. The cabinets are very good quality, the installer they used was excellent as well as the fabricator used for the countertops. I highly recommend David and working with him at Palm Desert Kitchens.
