    Burrito
    Sarah M.

I wanted to try something different and landed on Palmas. There were a lot of good options here, but I ended up ordering a burrito. I also ordered some fried plantains, an order of guacamole, churros, and their gluten-free little cornmeal macarons (the latter individually wrapped to respect those with strong gluten allergies). When it arrived (ordered via UberEats) I was amazed by the size and quantity of the food. The burrito was massive! I was quite hungry when I ordered it but couldn't eat more than half of it (had it the next day, talk about cost-efficient). The fried plantains also had my heat. Simple, not too greasy, tasty, and still warm when I received them. The churros were also great, I love the chocolate and lèche dips they had for them. Just crispy enough on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The gluten-free macarons were also sweet and tasty. The only complaint I have on the order was that there were no chips included in the guacamole order. I was a little confused on that because their picture included chips but the description didn't, but there was no option to purchase chips separately either. That's the one drawback, but honestly it's so small in comparison to how tasty everything else was. I can't wait to go back.

Anticipated Opening in February 2020! (1/18/2020)

I got a sneak peak of Palma's - ok, technically a stripped down version - tomato, tomatoe, set to open in February 2020, for a Luau event put on by Aloha Aina (local food truck in town). I like the bright green sign out from - completely fits their style, and it catches your eye walking along High Street downtown. So here's the lowdown: Omar, owner extraordinaire of Barriluco food truck and, more recently, brick and mortar spot in Lynn Alley, ownes both store-front spaces. So, Parma's is also Omar's to claim (PS: if you haven't met Omar over the many years he's been developing a name in the Columbus area, you are COMPLETEEYL missing out! His story of making it to Columbus via Central America and workinng his ass off to provide for his family will leave a smille on your heart!). Set to be a cocktail lounge, the advertising has been minimal, so I can't divulge anymore; that's all I've gathered so far. Anywho, right now there's not too much to see - yet. The bar is ready to go, sits to the right as you walk in, so you'll be able to grab a cocktail and relax. I tried a Mai Tai, and it was a bit on the tooo sweet side for me, but my friend liked the taste. Being just a cocktail space, it was nice to have Aloha Aina's food to satisfy hungry tummies. Perhaps they will have food pop-ups on weekends, who knows. I do know Omar has an impressive business mind, and a huge love for his surround community!

This is a cute tucked away restaurant. First you enter and there is a nice bar area then you head to the back where you can order food. I got the Chicken Empanada($4) The Beef Empanada($4) the Plantains($4) and the Paella($6.50). The food was delicious. I think the Plantains were my favorite! The staff was very nice and the place was clean. I will definitely be back.

Great location, we REALLY need some cool places farther than the short north on high street. Sad to say I was really underwhelmed by Palma's but we were there within 2 weeks of opening. I would 100% say check it out, we definitely will again but overall it was meh.

Checked out this place last night after seeing it advertised on social media. There were a decent amount of people already there by 10pm. My friends and I walked in a decided to get a drink. Myself and a friend both got the paloma and our other friend got the mojito. It took a little while to get our drinks, not sure what all goes into it. The paloma itself was very sweet compared to others I'd had in the past. I was anticipating better to be honest. My friend who got the mojito enjoyed his. The overall vibe was nice, different than the short north bars I typically frequent. Mostly Latin music, very danceable. Overall I think this place is probably still working out the kinks. I'd be interested in returning if I here better things from others as time goes on.

They recently opened earlier this year and covid got in the way, but I was glad to be able to finally check them out and support! I ordered the paella with grilled veggies and their brunch version came with eggs. When I tell you it was flavorful, it was!!! I cannot wait to go back and order it again! Plus there drinks were so pretty and unique looking. Lastly, they have a beautiful wall right inside that is totally Instagram-able! Highly recommend!

I was a bit worried as it looks more like a night club from the outside, but the food was fantastic! We ordered the popcorn chicken, the Shanghai noon burger, mama Chien's dumplings, drunken noodles, a cobra old fashion and a local beer (paper cloud?). The chicken had some unique seasoning and the drunken noodles were phenomenal; the noodles were giant and cooked perfectly and the dish has some unique touches like pea pods that you don't usually find. You order at the bar, but even with that the service was great! A server brought out an herb for us to try that is in many of their dishes. They checked in on us several times and even refilled water, which you get yourself at the back. The customer base was very diverse. I'm guessing the place may turn more club-like later at night, but for dinner it's a perfect family restaurant.

I've been here for drinks and bites - and they have that distinction of being unique AND good. It's eclectic and Asian fusion, so if you don't like Asian flavors - you may not find something on the menu to suit your basic tastes. Plan accordingly - the food is good, the bartenders are awesome, but getting a seat can be all about timing!

It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.
