I first tried their pizza when I randomly found a whole pepperoni pie in the Palms casino that someone left behind. It was so good, I was still thinking about it after going back home to California. It was a very short trip home and I was heading back out to Vegas not long after and just knew I had to stop by here again. I've been here two times now, and find it great! They serve NY style pizza with a thin crust, and a BIG slice. The pizzas are prepared and ready for you to order a slice. When you do, they pop that slice in the oven again to heat it up. I got the meat pizza both times I went and dang it was good and very filling. Service is efficient. The ambience isn't much given that this is just a large alcove in the wall for the most part. They don't have much seating in there, so you might want to take the pizza away. I love the Palms Hotel and Casino overall, however someone in Mgt needs to review the Pizza Restaurant. This is the worst pizza I've ever eaten. The last time I purchased the pizza the Pepperoni was so "greasy" and "salty" it was not edible. This pepperoni is obviously of very poor quality. Warning; you'll probably need both palms to carry their huge pizzas. I got a player's card from the Palms Casino Resort earlier this year, which came with a $20 dining credit for locals. Ever since then, I've been eating my way through their restaurants. Tonight's exploration was this hole in the wall that is simply called Pizza on the outside and slightly more descriptively named Palms Pizza on the website. It's between the corner where Scotch 80 Prime and La Popular are, and the hall with Serrano Vista Cafe and the pool access. After glancing at the prices and realizing that I could cover a full pizza between my dining credit, my mom's dining credit, and some comps, I picked out a whole Meat pizza ($33, ~22" diameter). After a short wait for the 25 min prep/bake time, I got to haul this giant box out to my car and home to enjoy. Well, at least I was hoping to enjoy it. The way they chopped the sausage so coarsely was already a turn-off, and the crust was kinda limp despite being thin and often tearing in the middle of a slice. Perhaps the whole oversized concept detracts from nailing pizza textures? Even after I reheated it, it didn't really crisp up all that much. The flavors didn't pop overall either, perhaps due to skimping on sauce and cheese. I've had far better pizzas over the past month, so I just can't recommend Palms Pizza unless you're staying at the Palms and want pizza without having to wade through the buffet line. He's friendly, attentive, and has a great sense of timing--always there when you need something, but never hovering. If you have a party larger than 4-6 people, you may not have enough space. Service is straight forward and good. Order at the counter and then wait for your food. This visit I only had a slice of their white pizza and an Italian salad. Their pizzas are tasty with a good amount of ingredients. Salad was fresh and generous. What makes this place extra special is the size of their large full pizzas! They're huge! And the size of their large boxes are huge! So much so that people will be staring at you as you carry a large pizza through the casino. They do have slices of pizza displayed that you can get if you don't want a whole one. They also sell alcohol and energy drinks. The pizza is New York Style and not bad. Big slices and like I said before , it's huge ! The Meat Pizza is $33. It will feed a couple people easily. When I came the first time and got the Meatball Sandwich , I asked another patron how the pizza was and he said it wasn't very good , but I think it was better than some out there , but not the best New York Pizza I've had in town. The Meatball Sandwich I had before was big meatballs and pretty decent sauce. It will fill you up too. They also sell a Chicken Parm Sandwich that I will probably check out next time. I think this is a good option for the Palms. The Cafe there I've had several things at and the only thing I would recommend are the steaks and potatoes. Even the desserts aren't that good. It's hard to find a place in Vegas that can feed a large group without breaking the bank. For our party of 7, the bill can easily reach over $100 at most places. This place was especially good for our large party; for $64 we were able to get a huge pizza (half veggie/half meat), chicken tenders, fries, and a dozen garlic knots. The individual slices of pizza are $4-5, so getting the full pizza is more cost-effective coming out to around $31. Even though the price may seem high, it's worth it when the slices are about twice the size of your typical pizza slice. The pizza is even bigger than a Costco pizza! The garlic knots were sitting in this layer of buttery garlic sauce and the chicken tenders were a good size. They serve up respectable New York style pizzas, calzones, salads, and such. It's a casual place with self seating. The drill is you order at the counter, and the let you know when your food is ready. Albeit limited given the business model, the service was friendly and welcoming. We got a couple slices, an Italian salad, and two fountain drinks. The food was good and hit the spot. It's fun to sit facing the casino to watch the goings on. So, why not five stars? In a word, prices. Our meal consisting of two slices, an Italian salad, and two fountain drinks was just a little north of $37.00. The pizza was JUST all right. We ordered 3 slices of pizza (2 meat and 1 pepperoni) and also an order of garlic knots. The pepperoni pizza took extensively long to be made. The cashier mentioned the cook in the back accidentally made the wrong pizza slices which delayed us getting our pizza. The garlic knots were very salty and the bread was not soft at all and the marina used for the garlic knots was very bland and lacked flavor. The pizza was also mediocre, not much flavor at all. Things can be improved by improving overall taste of food and service. Most likely would not return. read more
