Needed a place to work for a bit and Drove a good distance out of my way today to give this independent cafe some business. I've been there a couple of times but never with my wife so wanted to give her a new experience, too. She's in a wheelchair and has a related bladder condition and really had to use the restroom quickly. I struggled to get the wheelchair in the front door... it's a steep ramp and tight door and she'd never be able to get in on her own. We were disappointed when we got there to find the dining room was closed. My wife asked to use the restroom and the cashier told her no, the restroom was closed, too, because the dining room was closed. The store was completely empty at this point except for my wife, me, and the barista. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I looked directly at the barista and said nothing. I was waiting for her to realize the absurdity of what she was saying. No, she stuck to it. My wife said you sell coffee, you should have a restroom available for customers. Rather than exercise basic common sense the barista started arguing that the law didn't require it. I wheeled my wife out and told the barista after busting my tail to struggle just to get my wife and her chair in the door We won't darken the door again, and I'll have fun on social media reviewing them. She followed us to the door still arguing with my wife that the law didn't require them to let my wife use the restroom. At that point lost my temper and shouted "oh f**k off." Which I regret. But I regret an independent cafe lost a customer for good. I'm pretty laid back and easy to get on with. Except where people needlessly screw with my disabled wife. Anyway, we left. Had to find a restroom quickly because my wife had to change. Eventually went to Holy Grain, who are always great to us. And much more wheelchair accessible. With better prices, and a dining area that's actually open. read more

This morning, my boyfriend wanted to take me to this fairly new coffee joint and I'm so glad he did! I'm most excited that this cute coffee shop is close to home. This area definitely needed something like this. I was pleasantly surprised that they served Panther coffee! The two young ladies working today were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. If you're in their and come across Lino, be sure to say hi! Seeing that they use Panther Coffee, I was very excited to try them out. Coming from Miami, I have drank lots of Panther coffee and have grown to love it. At Paloma I had a vanilla latte which was absolutely delicious! No sugar or anything was needed, the latte itself was flavorful and delicious. Also, all syrups and flavorings are made in house, meaning you won't get that vanilla flavor from a store bought bottle. Not to mention, they have a little side room which houses an array of macaroons, cuban sandwiches, and other breads. As others have mentioned, I would love for this cafe to just stay open a little later. Hopefully as they become more established they will extend their hours. I have only good things to say about this place. The atmosphere, the coffee, the staff, all of it just feels you with warmth and peace. The owner, Marcelino, is an angel, and extremely knowledgeable AND passionate about what he does. I've been back more than a couple times and he recognizes me every single one of them, and can even remember my regular orders and suggest new ones he thinks I'll like - and he has yet to be wrong about them. Their coffee is made to order and with care and you'll even get a great chat to go with it. There was not a single time I came in where I didn't leave with a smile on my face. So, my best friend and I drove the 35 min. and boy was it worth! upon arriving we noticed the beautiful aesthetic of Paloma but what made an even greater impression on us was the service Lino provided us with. We were warming greeted and kicked off our conversation over our mutual obsession on Panther Coffee. He asked if I wanted to taste his latte and it was by far the best latte i've ever had. I visit from Vegas often where we have a plethora of "cute little coffee shops". I honestly wasn't impressed with this place, the coffee was okay, it wasn't anything extraordinary. I love finding cute, local coffee shops and Paloma is just that and close to home, too! Paloma has been open for 7 months and brews Panther Coffee. Panther Coffee originates in the Art District of Wynwood in downtown Miami. Another trip for another day... I tried a vanilla latte and chocolate and cookies 'n cream macaroons. The cookies 'n cream macaroon was decorated like the Cookie Monster. Not only was I impressed at how visually appealing the sweets were, but at how good they tasted, too! The lattes are smooth and delicious. I told the barista, Lino (who happened to also be the owner) that I was taking photos to post on Yelp! and he went out of his way to make me a 2nd latte with an even more perfected design...and at no extra charge. Woohoo!!!! All the caffeine!!! Lino was very welcoming to all his customers and even writes his customers' names on his wall next to the espresso machines. He calls it his "Facebook!" The decor is welcoming, fresh, and hip. I came to do some work and the music was at a perfect level to be able to concentrate and focus on whatever you need to do. Paloma gets all of the stars for finally establishing a modern and stylish coffee business that the Windermere downtown district so desperately needed. Last weekend, a friend and I decided to meet there for casual girl time over some coffee and pastries. We both live nearby and hadn't been there yet. And that turned out to be a wonderful decision. Upon entering, I was met with the most welcoming atmosphere, filled with greenery and calming bright lights, as well as a friendly staff. I glanced over at the bakery room (because it's separate and closest to the entry) and walked over the coffee counter in the back. I then ordered a cortado, because I can't ever see it in a menu and not order it, plus it's usually really charged and it was quite early. I waited for my friend for a moment, and when she arrived, we both made our way to the bakery counter and ordered a few things. I ordered the quiche and the guava and cheese quesito (which resembles a cheese Danish, but much better!). My friend ordered a chive scone. Then, we both made our ways back to the coffee counter and ordered our respective beverages. She ordered a chai latte, and I got a regular 12-ounce coffee, French pressed using Nicaraguan beans (the staff member had given me a choice of 3 beans, and I just happened to pick Nicaraguan). They offer other brewing methods, but because I usually like my coffee strong, I picked French pressed. There are not many seats in the main "dining" room, but it's plenty accommodating for multiple groups of people. There is also a designated area where they have a variety of "milk" creams and sugars to dress up your coffee to your liking. I do wish there was a bit more of a food variety, but they do not have a kitchen, so I believe that the variety that they do offer is quite plentiful. This is strictly a coffee business, and any additional food is a plus at this point. And just to be clear, the food they do offer is quite wonderful. My quiche and my quesito were to die for. I'm so over the moon about this place. Being an easy drive for me it's obviously amazing, but it's also the significance of having a place this posh, with actual affordable coffee in this district that is the most exciting part. I remember going to Paloma's when it opened in 2017 and I immediately knew I found a gem in the quaint town of Windermere. Honestly, it's hard to find a quality, stand alone coffee shop and this place is the definition of quality. On Saturday, I visited this local coffee shop, which I have not been to in quite some time and was very pleased with the customer service. The barista who rang us up, provided us suggestions based off of the typical types of coffee beverages we go for and well, we definitely made the right choice. My bf got a Cafe Con Leche, sweetened, I ordered their Cortado and we shared a few sweet treats, which I will get into later. The Cafe Con Leche had a perfect blend of sweetness and was just right and the Cortado was smooth with the perfect ratio of espresso to milk. We knew we wanted something sweet to go along with our coffees and decided to order two slices of their loaf cakes, since we couldn't decided what we wanted. One slice was Blueberry and the ladder, was Double Chocolate. The best part about these perfect slices of heaven, was that the barista warmed up each slice of the loaf cake and sprinkled powdered sugar on top! I've been twice in the past week and have tried the Mocha and Matcha and upon checking out was offered to taste test their new chai recipe. Mocha was fantastic and the matcha tasted like actual, true, quality matcha. I am super picky about chai so I was reluctant but I can't recommend it enough, it was creamy and had a subtle sweetness.
