Manager Shaya is very friendly and honest. Hallways are cleaned daily, and restrooms are always clean.

The hotel corridors are a long maze, but once you find your room, you're in for a comfy stay and a scenic place to eat your fresh baked, Double Tree cookies...! The bar area was nice and they stayed open late. The hotel breakfast was not worth what they're charging for the buffet. It's Hampton Inn caliber at premium prices. All in all I'd stay here again, but have begun to notice that Hilton is not updating their properties very often. Although almost a "Diamond for Life" I'm gravitating more and more to Marriott properties after re-achieving Diamond status for the year. Marriotts have upped their game and have some gorgeous places to stay with modern accommodations which has now become a reason not to stay at Hilton properties...! This resort honestly belongs in Hilton's Curio collection. It's much like the old Embassy Suites in Port Hueneme, it didn't resemble another Embassy Suites on the planet so ultimately became a Curio collection named Zachari Dunes. This Double Tree will remind you of no other like it, but still a cool place to stay!

Check in was decently prompt and the warm cookies are a plus. However, that's about where things started going downhill. After checking into my first room, I noticed a faint smell of mildew, and the hallways being abnormally muggy and humid. As I started unpacking, I noticed several ants in the bathroom. Not a big deal usually - but they were sporadically all over the place which was annoying. After calling the office, they promptly got me another room on another floor. No big deal, right? As I walk in, there's a mold across the comforter and the AC unit had an error message. I called the front desk again and the person said "that's not mold on the comforter" it's just the liquid that dripped down from the AC unit onto the bed since it was just fixed (it wasn't fixed). Also, there were ants in this bathroom too! The office then put me in another room...guess what? Ants there too, along with the entry of the hotel carpet being lifted and frayed from use. At this point, I asked for a refund which they had no issues providing and I left and booked a nicer hotel. I don't like writing these type of reviews, but I've stayed here before in the past and had no issues. I'm wondering if there was a change in ownership. For a hotel to don the name Hilton, you expect something good and consistency. Unfortunately, this hotel missed the mark. I hope they figure out whatever it is they need to figure out to refresh this place because the location is great and it could be a pretty awesome hotel being so close to the port. For now, I'd recommend avoiding.

The staff really does go above and beyond to give every guest the "Wow" experience. Our room had the view of the ocean and pool so it was a little loud during the day when kids were at the pool. It wasnt a big deal to us since it was during the afternoon. The room was spacious and had high end furnishing. I did enjoy being able to walk around the property from one restaurant to another or just for sightseeing. You get your workout that way. There are several restaurants inside the property so you dont really have to leave just to eat. I would like to also comment on their catering since we get to experience them during our work meetings at one of their meeting room along with a hosted dinner on one of the nights that we were there. Thats where I had to deduct one star. It was a hit or miss. The weekday lunch and dinner werent the greatest. My partner and I felt it was lacking in flavor. The NY steak that they served for dinner was more on the rare side. I do not mind it but maybe cook it just a little bit longer. We had to improvise on seasoning it too. Like what I would always say "its better under seasoned that over seasoned" as you cant do much if the food is too salty. They might have a different chef on weekends as the catered lunch was really good on saturday. Thr food was perfectly seasoned. Definitely no complaints there. I am looking forward to staying here again in the future maybe for a staycation.

I put a lot of trust in their word since they've previously stayed at this specific hotel a few times and they choice was perfect. Driving from the bay to Southern California was a whole trip in itself with two kids and the last thing we wanted to do was to rush the moment we got in the car and into the hotel. That being said, we decided to stay two nights prior to embarkation day. We wanted to walk in, get settled after the 7 (=/-) hour drive and relax. The hotel had everything we needed - a full kitchen, a clean and perfectly running shower, clean and comfortable beds and a wonderful view. The proximity of the hotel to the port was perfect. All eight of us were able to get our belongings together and not stress on getting parking. The continental breakfast was great as well. The staff was beyond amazing and during one of our nights we were able to watch the UFC fight downstairs in the lobby with a crew of construction workers. One of the staff attendants gave my girls crayons and coloring paper. She sat down and helped them with their art and it was honestly precious.

Okay for a quick one-night stay, but I'd choose another hotel for a longer stay…read more We booked this hotel using 35K Bonvoy points for a one-king-bedroom suite with a kitchenette and complimentary breakfast. We originally booked because the photos on the Bonvoy app made it look like the pool was on the rooftop, which was a big reason we chose this hotel. Unfortunately, that wasn't what we expected once we arrived. We also asked about upgrading to a two-bedroom suite when we checked in, but they didn't offer it to us even though we later saw that one was available. We mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday, but unfortunately there wasn't much the hotel could do. A few things to know before booking: * Ice: There is only an ice machine in the lobby. If you're staying on the 5th floor, you have to go back downstairs for ice. * Rooms/common areas: The carpets are pretty old and dingy and could definitely use an upgrade. There was also a noticeable old/smoky smell in the hallway. * Pool/whirlpool: The pool area is nothing particularly special, but we were lucky enough to basically have it to ourselves because the weather was cloudy, humid, and lightly sprinkling. We specifically booked this hotel so the kids could use the pool and we could use the whirlpool, so at least we got to enjoy it. I wouldn't choose this hotel specifically for the pool, though. * Breakfast: The breakfast was probably my biggest disappointment. There were quite a few gnats flying around the food and even around the tables while we were eating. The selection was on the smaller/basic side, but we did eat our fill since it was complimentary. I just wish there had been a little more attention to the gnats, as they took away from the overall breakfast experience. There are some definite positives about the location. There are a lot of restaurants within walking distance, so you have plenty of choices without having to drive. We took a nice walk last night across the bridge, caught the sunset, and had a view of the Queen Mary. We ended up choosing Chili's, but there were plenty of other options nearby, including Yard House, Hooters, Bubba Gump, and more. That was actually one of the nicer parts of our stay. Another positive was that, because of our status, they gave us a 4 PM late checkout, which was greatly appreciated since the regular checkout is noon. The location is also convenient for the Aquarium of the Pacific and for people catching a cruise near the Queen Mary. Because of that, I can understand why someone might choose this hotel for a quick overnight stay. Overall: If you need a convenient place to stay for one night or less, especially for the aquarium or a cruise, it may be perfectly fine. The location is convenient, there are lots of restaurants nearby, and we were able to make the most of our stay. But if you have a choice and are looking for a nicer hotel with better amenities, atmosphere, or breakfast, I would recommend considering an alternative hotel for a longer stay.

When I asked where our 5th person was supposed to sleep, as we were charged $20 for having an extra person (and ok ages were input so you could easily see we had no infants or children under 5) I was told to pay $30 extra for a roll away bed. Then the air conditioning in the room kept showing an error code and did not work our entire stay. There was only 2 towels in the room and the hand soap was empty. When we asked for more the gentleman rudely rolled his eyes, slammed the door behind him and then brought the items back to me. We had stayed here before with no problems or issues but this time was so unpleasant we definitely won't be back. So to recap, we have rude guest services, an AC that did not work, not enough towels, empty hand soap, and treated like an inconvenience when they didn't make the room up properly. Do better Sir. Usually location isnt something I place great importance on since I have a car and dont mind a little drive. However I'm very pleased with the number of stores and restaurants withing walking distance. PRICE: 5 STARS! I always get a killer rate with this place. The photos used in the listing do not accurately reflect the actual condition of the property. One of our biggest concerns was parking. There is no dedicated hotel parking lot, only limited street parking that is available on a first-come, first-served basis. We were also unable to find a single designated handicap parking space. As the spouse of a disabled veteran, accessibility is extremely important to us. We found the property to be difficult to navigate and not particularly handicap-friendly. We also discovered that many of the electrical outlets were so loose that my husband's CPAP machine could not remain plugged in reliably, which is a serious issue for someone who depends on medical equipment while sleeping. Because of these concerns, we made the decision to cancel our stay before check-in. We actually visited the property the day before our scheduled arrival specifically to make sure it would meet our needs. After seeing the conditions in person, we knew it would not be suitable. Despite providing more than 24 hours' notice and never occupying the room, the property refused to refund our reservation. We are now having to dispute the charge through our credit card company. Had the property been accurately represented online and provided the accessibility features we reasonably expected, we never would have made the reservation in the first place.

Comfortable but could hear the plastic mattress cover right under the sheets when moving about. Cons: No soap. Or shampoo. I've never seen that. My room had no remote. I asked for one. It turned on the sound but no picture. I gave up. No elevator; steps in and steps to many rooms. This was on the website so I wasn't surprised. One pillow per person and one small towel per person. No mini fridge and no ice available. Skunk sprayed outside so room has smelled all day/night (coming in through air conditioner; 1st floor room) Someone has been getting sick outside the room for the past half hour. Daytime had lots of noise from nearby homes, kids, music, banging as though someone was putting up siding All in all, it's safe, inexpensive, and no frills. I am staying one night before a cruise. This is fine for my needs. I would stay here again. Safety and cost are great. Bummers might be one offs, except for the soap. Soap should be provided!
