This is the first time I've felt like the Yelp (average) rating is undeservedly high. It's a motel. On a busy street on Redondo Beach. There are blackout curtains and an A/C, so I slept pretty well. Linens are standard motel linens. (The A/c was loud but I used it as white noise.) Front desk was transactional. No warmth. But I got my key. I don't need warmth -- but it would be a nice touch. There was no soap in my room so I went back to the front desk to request a bar; he gave me one and apologized for the oversight. (Note: you need to ring the doorbell on the counter if you want anyone to come out of the adjoining apartment to help you.) Room was small -- but I made it work as a solo traveler. Refrigerator was on high but it only got cool -- not cold. Not ideal, but I made it work. They have a small lot, but there was plenty of street parking so I parked on the street. This place will work in a pinch. But don't think this is some wonderful motel property. read more

Pros: super affordable, good location, and free parking, although a small lot but there seemed to be easy to access street parking nearby. The room and bathroom are incredibly small but the bed was comfortable. Decent water pressure Cons: the room was dirty, there were multiple stains on the walls, ceiling, mirror, and headboard (photos attached). The bed cover also had a small stain but I didnt get a photo. This made the stay uncomfortable for me as the room felt unclean. The room also had an odd smell, may have been due to the stains. They almost look like coffee? Maybe soda. The motel is on the street so you will hear street traffic. Also, the air conditioner is INCREDIBLY loud, like, sounds like an old truck trying to start loud. If you're sensitive to noises, you will have a hard time sleeping. Overall I think if the room wasn't dirty I could have looked past everything else but it tainted my stay overall. I saw other reviews saying the place was clean so maybe this was a one-off but as you can see in the photos there were multiple stains. read more

Stayed in room 21 (family unit). AC only in bedroom. None in living room, kitchen. Small Shower only. No coffee or toaster. Limited dishes, silverware. Unit not appropriate for families. Small tv in bedroom and living room. You can hear traffic all night and day. Limited parking. Beds (2 queens) were ok. Price is good. Located about 10 minutes from beaches. Restaurant are closely located. Staying there is more like a model 6. Must pay a $50 security fee which will be refunded after 7 days. Staff was not friendly and did not speak English. We only sleep there at night because friend had a nice rental on the sand which we spent the day. When front office is open, they have a coffee machine. Also there is a Starbucks across the street the street. read more

Not only that they have premium looking toiletries and remote controlled air conditioning unit that enables you to regulate room temperature from your bed with a touch of a button! This motel also has guest laundry facilities, an ice and vending machine and complimentary WiFi! In the rooms you get Samsung flat screen cable TV, microwave, refrigerator, mini dining table with chairs, work desk with chairs, king bed with ancillary small bed, luggage rack, ironing amenities, premium looking toiletries, alarm clock and telephone! There is a Starbucks coffee shop right across from the hotel as well! Motel is also close to Redondo Beach and manhattan beach! Only issues I encountered here are: $50 deposit required at check in! Bathtub was clogged due to lots of hair in the sink drain but I was able to extract the hair and remove the blockage! Also NO swimming pool! NO fitness center! read more

What a great find! The staff including the Hotel Manager, Bobby Patel, were outstanding. There is a great Italian restaurant two blocks north, and a good Mexican place two blocks south. The room had more in it than I thought it would. A big 3 shelf fridge, microwave, good size tv with about 80 channels. An ironing board with iron, lamps with plugs for your stuff. The bathroom had a lot of soaps and lotions too. With the room, came two bottles of water, which was great. There is an ice and soda machine on the first floor. I stayed in room 25, on the second floor. It was so quiet and the bed is nice and firm with three pillows. I wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.. read more

This cool retro motel was built at a time when nobody had ever heard of a queen or king size bed. Just full (double). Consequently the queen bed takes up a lot of space in the tiny room. But the owners have done something very smart: they have looked at the experience of staying at their motel from the standpoint of the guest. Even though there's not a lot of room to get around, at least in #45 where we were, a lot had been done to make our stay convenient and pleasant. The bed is just the right firmness, the sheets are silky smooth and there's the right amount of comforter and spread. The updated camel and pale grey wall colors are fine and the white crown molding in the bathroom and main room adds a lot. There is opaque glass in the one window which gives privacy but also light. At first I didn't like it but then I saw what a good idea it is because the parking lot is right outside your door. The heating system is quiet and efficient, the comfortable shower has plenty of warm water. And one of the most important things about the guest experience is perfectly satisfactory: the toilet paper is soft and substantial. (during Covid we all learned how important toilet paper is to us) in room 45, The following need attention. -- The bathroom sink drain stinks whenever water is poured down it. A little vinegar and baking soda would economically fix this. however, when it comes to soap, economy has been taken a step too far. One tiny piece of soap smaller than a flash drive? For two people to wash hands and take a shower? Jeez. . (guests have to switch it back-and-forth from the sink to the shower ) Spring for a second piece of soap please. Bigger too. I admit that the soap and the smallest-ever tube of body lotion both had a nice scent. The desk and its chair are unnecessary and cause a lot of crowding. I would replace them with 2 inexpensive rolling bed tables that slide over the bed so people can sit up in bed and use their laptops. Service was courteous even though we were not able to get early check-in as we wanted. I want to especially mention the beautiful outdoor plants. Someone clearly cares about them and is taking good care of them. Because this motel dates from decades ago, The location is prime... There are many excellent restaurants within walking distance. Price was far better than we expected: under $120 during holiday time. Overall I would say that the minuses were small and the pluses were big. We'll be back. PS I am not convinced that this motel has been in the same family for decades as someone said, but the relatively new owners I believe have done a really nice upgrade. read more

It was updated, clean, quiet, has private parking included on the property, a fridge, ironing board, luggage rack, and a small coffee station in office. This place is clean, and maintained well for independent non-chain establishment. The owner/front desk was friendly. The parking is limited 1st come 1st serve, but plenty of street parking. It was quiet and the AC worked well. Not too far from Hermosa and Manhattan beach. Stayed here a few times and have never been disappointed. The service is friendly and to the point. Easy check in with none of the hotel deposits and fees. The manager was very rude and disrespectful to me all because I thought I already paid through hotels.com I was wrong I didn't prepay and I apologized to him. He continued to raise his voice at me and even played the race card by saying that people think he's trying to rip them off because he's Indian. I don't know if he's the manager or owner either way he does not belong in the hospitality business. And the parking is horrible there's not enough parking for all the guests. I had to park in a handicap space and stay on the balcony of my room waiting and watching for a parking space to open up so I can move my vehicle. This definitely a diamond in the rough, great location!! Kay Patel was an Amazing Proprietor who's recently retired, Bobby is now the new owner and he's as wonderful as Kay. The rooms are clean and well maintained!! You get daily maid service which is practically unheard of in the pricier hotels!! The price of the room is the best in the area. We were greeted by Kay Patel & Bobby as this is Kay's last days. They take really great care of you. Found them when I had to come out because my dad was in Hospice!! Best discovery!! We've stayed there the last 5 times and this weekend we brought our family and had three rooms. We are coming out in a couple weeks and will be staying there again. There are several reviews here that validate our concerns about the rude management of this motel. So it was not a 'random' bad experience just for us; seems others have had similar issues with rudeness. Management was rigid and rude. Slammed his door after one of our guests asked for a remote for the second tv in our suite. He refused us extra bed sheet, one of our guests was going to sleep on the couch. He wanted to know why they were sleeping on the couch if we had two beds. As if our answer would determine if he was willing to provide a clean bedsheet. He said they do not do that (give extra sheets), but acted as if I was lucky to have him decide to give me one. I asked if I could have a bottom sheet too. He said no, offered no extra pillow, or extra blanket. We booked a suite, for two nights, and he couldn't provide consideration, and quality. He was rude, abusive, and ruined our stay. He and his family I believe seemed to be an in-residence manager. He is in the wrong line of business. He is not 'service' oriented. Seemed to be rigid and throwing tantrums the two days we were there. Unfortunate stay. Find another place. We would not recommend Seaside Motel, Redondo Beach, on Artesia Blvd. read more

This is where I always stay when in the South Bay Area. Kaye, the owner, and his family are so very hospitable. In a culture where we are generally in and out of impersonal lodging settings, Sea Side Motel is a great exception. I love that Seaside Motel has been family- owned for decades. The rooms have recently been upgraded. The rooms are immaculately clean , and the beds are very comfortable. I've probably been booked in at least a dozen different rooms, over the past few years, and some rooms are larger than others, but I've always appreciated the $$ value, cleanliness and comfort. This was a little motel, but don't let the name fool you! It's located a short distance to the redonda beach & LAX airport, without being in the sketchy part of town. You do hear street noise, but they did a good job at updating the rooms- which include private, solid windows to help. The room was super clean and updated, the maid did our room up each day (which you don't hear of these days since Covid), and the gentleman at the front desk was friendly and helpful. read more

Can't believe I'm giving this spot a 4 stars but it really is guys. We stayed here for a week while in transition for a move, and this spot was surprisingly really affordable and clean. Nothing fancy and when you need a week somewhere it was reasonably priced. I ended up securing this from an app Hotel Tonight, for I think $340 for 5 days. Overall really nice, I recommend an upstairs unit away from the foot traffic. There was a distinct smell of curry coming from downstairs, but if you can get over that and just need a shower and a bed in a safe area, within a reasonable location. this spot did the job. read more

These days it seems like 1-2 story Motor Inns are becoming more and more questionable, but fortunately there are still a few diamonds in the rough, and this is one of them. Structurally it's just like any other two story motel, with entrances on the outside and barely a lobby. But it has been well maintained and meets my one and only criteria when staying somewhere, and that's that it's clean...and at under $100/night, it's also fortunately priced just like any other two story motel. The room is comfortable, big enough, and most importantly, spotless. There were also a few nice touches like a full-size desk and a bigger-than-average-for-a-motel refrigerator. It's true that AC is noisy and TV is small, but neither of those bothered me. It gets 4 instead of 5 because it's also true that there's a sewer smell from the bathroom, especially when the sink is on. The name is a bit of a misnomer...it's not exactly by the sea (and not in a particularly interesting location) but not a bad drive from the sea or other interesting locations. The guy at the front desk (the owner?) seemed a little emo, but he was polite and helpful. read more

I reserved this place based on ratings of 4.5 out of 5...... that wasn't our experience. While they do a great job on the exterior upkeep and curb appeal the inside was disappointing. maybe it our particular room? Nonetheless, this was the most uncomfortable bed we have EVER slept in and we have done my fair share of traveling. the towels were poor Quality as well. And beware, parking is first come first serve!!!! There was also a party of sorts going on in one of the nearby rooms that went on all night..... nothing from the management to keep things down. Went on until around 2pm.... Oh and did I mention when we returned to the Hotel the Redondo beach police department was also there!!!! all this on the same night .... needless To say we will not be staying here again. We arrived at Seaside Motel at about 3am on June 15, yes that was 3 am, due to airline delayed and LAX lockdown ( unattended suspicious bag at the terminal ). Mr. Patel checked in our daughter in law as she arrived earlier than us, he just asked for her identification not credit card, though the reservation was on my name. I called ahead, of course, just to be sure she would be okey. In the early morning we couldn't find parking so we parked on the street. He asked for the our rental car key, so that he could moved the car from the street in the morning as it was street sweeping day. He didn't have to do that but he did it, much appreciated gesture, and we didn't get ticket. The motel is old but our room is updated, clean, has refrigerator and microwave, and location is perfect for us, and airport is also not far. We will return to stay there if our business trip come that way. Thank you, Mr. Patel for your hospitality. read more

It's not fancy but it's clean. The owners work and manage the property, are responsive, and customer focused. The location is excellent with 4-5 places to eat within walking distance. I was happy to stay at the Seaside Motel during our three-day trip to L.A. For well under one hundred dollars per night, I got a clean, comfortable room, friendly staff, covered parking, and a nice outdoor ambiance (the tall palm trees and neon pink Motel sign were the perfect touch). It is in a great location, just blocks from the PAC, and fifteen minutes from LAX. The beach was just a short drive away. There are plenty of inexpensive but tasty restaurants around too (we ate at a Thai place, a fish place, and a diner, all delicious). We would stay here again read more

Made reservations on line look good so I booked one night stay. Was very pleased about the whole thing . Rooms and grounds are extremely neat and clean. The manager is wonderfully helpful in directing me to places for meals and about the surrounding area. Parking is limited on site but again the front desk will explain the street parking policy. There is no elevator in the motel so if you have a problem with stairs let them know in advance. The price is much better then most in the area. This is truly a gem close to the beach, the gym and shopping. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are cozy and clean! There is a laundry room onsite, wash $1.25 and dry $1.00 for 45 minutes. This is a nice place and quiet at night. I like it here! read more
