The place is ok,outdated rooms, crappy tv and signal,no wifi,a Nazi for a manager,to expensive for what it is,the rooms are cozy and good sized but out of date, some people may like it but I wouldn't recommend for the money

The hotel corridors are a long maze, but once you find your room, you're in for a comfy stay and a scenic place to eat your fresh baked, Double Tree cookies...! The bar area was nice and they stayed open late. The hotel breakfast was not worth what they're charging for the buffet. It's Hampton Inn caliber at premium prices. All in all I'd stay here again, but have begun to notice that Hilton is not updating their properties very often. Although almost a "Diamond for Life" I'm gravitating more and more to Marriott properties after re-achieving Diamond status for the year. Marriotts have upped their game and have some gorgeous places to stay with modern accommodations which has now become a reason not to stay at Hilton properties...! This resort honestly belongs in Hilton's Curio collection. It's much like the old Embassy Suites in Port Hueneme, it didn't resemble another Embassy Suites on the planet so ultimately became a Curio collection named Zachari Dunes. This Double Tree will remind you of no other like it, but still a cool place to stay!

I was immediately filled with nostalgia and excitement to have a comfortable stay. However, my excitement was short-lived and immediately crushed by disappointed as I got a whiff of a terrible mildew stench upon reaching the sliding door entrance, which was very noticeable throughout the building. The facility could clearly use an upgrade.... in everything -- paint, carpet, furniture, curtains, coffee maker, lack of mini fridge to name a few. It's a shame because this place has every potential to be a nice hotel. It is located at a tranquil marina with ample good eats and a walkable park and beach nearby. Safe to say that we will not be staying here ever again. And you shouldn't either. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else. Two positives to note: 1) free warm cookies (upon request) 2) friendly housekeeping and maintenance staff (unfortunately, we didn't experience the same warmth and friendliness from the front desk staff)

The hotel is located on Hawthorne Blvd in Central Torrance. The parking is now a paid lot. The Penthouse event room is very nice and offers a nice view of Torrance. The work event that I attended was grand and with excellent catering. As for the restaurant and the mural experience, those are separate reviews. Have to mention the famous DoubleTree cookies. Those are always a delicious treat! Overall great experiences at this DoubleTree. 4 stars!

Short hair like that seems to be trimmed from somewhere unsightly in my opinion) on the very pillow I was going to lay my head on!!! Genuinely disappointed, mildly disturbed, never again. The 3.7 rating or whatever ratings has by the time you view it are lying to you. You'd be better off staying somewhere else. Normally Hilton has some pretty decent places, but I'm ashamed to say this place generally felt very... meh. I'm not making this one star because the receptionist was nice about my reservation, even after having a bit of a hard time finding our reservation (someone else's reservation showed up for us somehow) and found an accessible room for my family and I (elderly individuals in my family). Very old and outdated, no valet or bellman as mentioned above. Very deceiving looks. I would say goodnight (as of the time of writing this), but I doubt I'll be getting any sleep after the "pillow hair incident" of haunting my dreams.

Malibu Beach Inn - Look at the raw onions cut and soggy rotten salad leaves. Not bad for a five star hotel breakfast right?

The building is three stories, I believe and each room has balcony access. I got an oceanfront room. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning! The best part of my stay was the breakfast room service where I got an omelette, potatoes, steel cut oatmeal and fruit juices. I ate outside to the stunning ocean views and crisp sunny beach weather. Each room is very cozy and has an electric fireplace. Since I went at the end of April, I definitely used the fireplace at night. I ordered a large baked chocolate chip cookie à la mode in the evening before bed and ate it in front of the cozy fireplace. Another impressive feature was the heated Toto toilet in the restroom. I'm normally grossed out by hotel toilets but this fancy toilet made the toilet inviting and attractive. The toilet was sensor flush and you could use it as a bidet too I think, though I didn't use it that way. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had many settings that made it feel like a spa shower where the jets were able to hit different parts of your body like a jacuzzi massage feature. The reason I'm giving four stars is for the cleanliness of the restroom. The room was nearly $1000 a night so I expected the whole room, including the restroom to be spotless. However, there was some leftover hair in the sink and shower from the previous occupant. That really grossed me out and affected my general impression of the place. Hopefully they will improve their house keeping maintenance so I can change my rating to five stars. Overall, it was a great staycation however.

Unfortunately, our experience was incredibly disappointing. When we arrived, we were greeted by the manager, who appeared tired, disengaged, and completely uninterested in helping us. We asked about the advertised Happy Hour, and he abruptly told us they don't have Happy Hour. When we pointed out that it was listed on their website, there was no explanation or apology. We then asked if we could sit in the bar instead, and he immediately said no because they were "too busy" and had a private party. However, there were numerous empty tables throughout the restaurant, making his explanation difficult to understand. Rather than trying to accommodate us or offer an alternative, he was dismissive and made us feel unwelcome. Customer service is everything, especially at a luxury property like the Malibu Beach Inn. If your website advertises a promotion, it should either be honored or removed, and guests should be treated with courtesy and respect. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed and chose to spend our money elsewhere. I hope management addresses both the inaccurate information on their website and the lack of professionalism we experienced. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I cannot recommend the restaurant. It's very disappointing because we have been there many times before the fires and even stayed at the hotel and never were treated this way before.

I was walking from my second floor room to the first floor and she had the audacity from the second floor to throw a really heavy stack of dirty laundry bedding in front of my path to the first floor into a really big black tub on wheels. Seriously she's so lazy, walk the dirty laundry down to the bottom of the step. It's not that far. Since the parking lot is obviously uneven, when the dirty laundry crashed into the large oversized tub, the tub rolled and hit a mint red Tesla that had no pre-existing damage. Photo attached. I told her that she hit the red Tesla with her bin because she threw it. She told me it didn't matter because there's no damage. I looked at her and said that is SO unprofessional. I shook my head and disbelief. I also went to use the microwave in my room and apparently the microwave in my room automatically locks your food in there. So while waiting for the maintenance person to come unlock it. (Obviously when you're microwaving food, you're ready to eat it right away). He didn't arrive so I figured it out myself, in the middle of the sea of buttons, there was an actual "unlock" button. I've never seen or noticed that before. Even though you don't lock the microwave, apparently it locks on its own and so I was able to figure it out and unlock it myself. I went to the front desk to check out and I told him about both of the issues and he did apologize but didn't do anything about it and just gave me my receipt. I also have never in my entire career with a company had to personally pay for the hotel room because it's billed out. This hotel actually billed my personal card instead of the company direct bill. This went all the way to corporate in order to fix it and all the way to our travel company as well. I will never stay here again. There is also no window facing the outside parking lot. It's just dark red walls so the room feels very enclosed and contained. I've never not seen a window no window facing the outside.
