Delicious hidden gem. Would be 5 star for take out. Requires you to know how to navigate, but once you do, it's awesome. Lots of details below to help other first-timers... Food/drinks: This is home cooked Caribbean cooking unlike any other restaurant I've been to in Seattle. The veggie platter was flavorful and spicy (pumpkin choka was excellent; the kale was actually spinach and it was just ok); the side of ribs were tasty; the curry goat was fall off the bone; the plantain was ripe; and I saw the chicken dish get destroyed! The roti is the anchor of the meal - I'd recommend the dhalpuri, which i think was the plain and buttery one. The other one had some spices inside and was good but a bit crumbly. To drink, get the rum punch! The sorrel punch was sweet and easy to drink (you can just get the juice if you don't want the alcohol); the ginger punch was less sweet and had a punch to it. Service: Rough start! We had no idea how this place worked, and unfortunately, for the first 30 minutes, no one seemed to notice. I was overwhelmed and frustrated trying to use the digital ordering system while googling what each item was. Eventually we flagged down a staff member who was SO helpful. He took time to talk us through the menu and the app, and even let us sample some drinks. Ambiance: Very casual. Seat yourself. My highlight was the music, flags hanging, and the mix of people. Went here for a birthday party. Showed up a tad bit early and as soon as i walked in I was greeted by staff. It's Caribbean Food with the atmosphere. It's a laid back spot where you can sit back and enjoy yourself. Even the bartender walked up and started talking to me. The menu you scan on ur phone to view. You order food and pay on the app as well. They have all kinds of food but it seemed like a lot of the food I wanted was sold out and not available. When I stepped into Pam's Kitchen, there's a sense of comfortability that radiates off the vibrantly painted walls. The crowd was in good spirits, and there was a super welcoming & friendly vibe to the place. Plants in the windows give the window seating the essence of homeyness that really made the whole experience that much better. There was one bartender on duty and I had the best drink I've had in awhile (tequila drinkers, this is where it's at) - the Furious Five. Excellent and even better with the chicken curry. This is the kind of place I'd choose a vacation destination for. Thankfully I don't have to, because I'm a 20 minute drive away! We visited Pam's last night for the first time and were blown away with deliciousness. The inside is warm and welcoming. Seating is comfortable. We sat in the bar, and asked the very friendly bartender what he recommended if we want a vodka drink with tropical flavors. He made us some sort of magnificent tropical lemonade cocktail, with coconut and citrus-y flavors. It was perfect, and he was awesome. For food, we went with the jerk chicken dinner and a side of plantains. GOODNESS GRACIOUS. I'm still thinking about the flavors on that chicken today. I couldn't decide on just one thing so I ordered the jerk chicken sandwich ($16), plantains ($9), and the 1/2 portion of pelau ($12). I ordered through Uber eats so the prices might be skewed a bit but everything was really tasty and I was happy with my choices! Jerk Chicken Sandwich - 4.5/5 - I'm happy to report that this thing was really hefty and packed with chicken. The chicken is spiced really well and has a good kick without being overly spicy that you can't enjoy it. The bread provides a little bit of sweetness to cut the heat a little, although I will say it was a bit oily and couldn't hold up to the weight of the chicken very well. Plantains - 3.5/5 - half of the pieces I got were super dark and overdone. They weren't bad, but there's really nothing special here, just your average plantains. Pelau - 4.5/5 - I've never tried this before and it was really yummy. It kind of reminds me of a paella or jambalaya even though it's a completely different dish and it has a much milder flavor profile. Karaoke!!!! Had so much fun at Pam's Thursday night featuring KJ Shua! He sings and dances between the diner's songs! So fun! Food and drinks came out quickly. Pam was the absolute cutest:)) Lemon colada: this rum based drink was sooo freaking good (and strong). It was very refreshing and coconutty. I would get this drink everywhere if I could!! Jerk chicken sandwich: the chicken was so tender and almost melted in your mouth. Didn't think the flavors were anything crazy but the coconut bun was awesome. It has been a while since I had Caribbean cuisine and they hit the spot! The curries are made by the owner so limited amount each day. We came later in the evening and a lot of the options were sold out. We were able to try their jerk chicken wings, jerk chicken dinner, goat curry, and pork ribs. If you like flavorful and recognizable spices in your food, Pam's is the place to be! Pam's Kitchen is black owned and located on the main thoroughfare of 45th Street in Wallingford. They specialize primarily in Trinidadian food and also offer some Caribbean food. I'm guessing the front desk lady is Pam, because she said all the formulas are hers! I requested dishes that are Trinidadian over Caribbean. She recommended the "Stew Chicken Trini Style". I also asked about Jerk vs. Curry, and she said her Curry formula is exclusively Trinidadian. So those are what I ordered - Stew Chicken and Curry Chicken. The Food: Stew Chicken Trini Style - 5 Stars This chicken is simmered in a tomato and caramelized sugar base, seasoned with fresh herbs. This is fall-off-the-bones delicious! If you're interested in this, it takes 1+ hr to make from the opening time, which was 4pm. We were there at 4:30, and she said it'll ready at 5:15. But don't go too late or it'll sell out. Curry Chicken - 5 Stars The curry with its habanero peppers smelled absolutely amazing! I decided to take advantage of the sauce by adding a bit of onions and red bell peppers. Sautéing this curry at home yielded the most amazing aroma. It tasted really good too. Sweet Fried Plantain - 5 Stars There's a tenderness of the flesh (properly cooked through) and caramelized edges. Very tasty! Roti - 3 Stars She recommended a roti to go with the curry, so we bought it. It's probably better if eaten at the restaurants but it's a tad dry when we were eating at home. Callaloo - 5 Stars She seems to have gifted us an order of "Callaloo" - a creamy spinach and okra soup with coconut milk. It's not on the receipt and the menu doesn't say it's part of either entrée. Pam's kitchen has the best Caribbean food! I know jerk chicken is not traditional to them, but they do it very well! I got the jerk chicken sandwich, it's got nice heat, and very good flavor! My boyfriend got their Goat curry, which he loves. Has a little spice to it, very flavorful. The peanut punch is also very delicious. Our friends got the jerk chicken wings, they said they were very spicy! The aloo pies are delicious! Soft and filled with yummy flavor, and a hint of heat. The food here has lots of spice and flavor. This was a difficult one, I was juggling between 3 or 4 stars, but I decided to give it a four because the service was spectacular. Although it took about 45 minutes for us to get our food (the owner/chef did come out of the kitchen and let us know that she's the only one cooking so there would be a wait), but the food had great flavor. I can tell that the dishes were made out of love. The curry lamb dish was delicious, the sauce has the perfect thickness, burst with warm spices and the meat was tender. 3.5 if I could rate it differently. To start, the food was good, but with the amount of other issues I don't plan to come back anytime soon. To start the waiter walked away before we had even finished ordering, not even asking if that was all. The pumpkin choka was served room temperature, and upon ordering the waiter tried to mansplain to me that it "wasn't like American pumpkin pie" despite me assuring him I didn't think it would be and he continued to insist I was wrong decision it coming out completely as I expected despite it being cold. The oxtail seemed as if it was put in the oven for 5 minutes, parts of it were cold and hot at the same time. It tasted incredible but I don't believe it was worth $30 for two pieces with some rice and kale. The jerk chicken was very good but like the other food it was slightly above room temperature and not worth $20 for two drumsticks. The green beans were the only food served hot worth the price. The coconut fry bread was a complete rip off, it was one piece of small bread for $6. The complimentary hot sauce was very delicious and needed as the food lacked spiciness. Finally the waiter made a comment at the end of the meal in total shock that we had finished the food and didn't need togo boxes which felt judgmental but it could just be personal, but the servings were quite small and not shocking at all that two people finished them. Along with the food the ambience was fine, only complaint was that the person playing music was using a service with lots of ads so it was constantly interrupting the meal. It is a must try!! I have been here twice and the food has always been exceptional. I had never tried food from Trinidad before this place and it is amazing!! Both times I have ordered the Pelau and loved it. It doesn't have seafood but it kind of reminds me to the taste of paella. As a Trinidadian, I can vouch for the authenticity of the food. I went in with zero expectations and was blown away with how incredibly good the food tasted. I was also really nervous to take my friends there but they loved the food! Branded as a Caribbean restaurant, everything but the jerk chicken is from Trinidad. We ordered aloo pies, curry chicken combos, curry goat combos and chicken pelau, and ordered a couple of rotis (pharatha and dhalpurie). As a heads up, the order of aloo pies comes with two aloo pies cut in half, which is perfect to share among four people. If you're worried about what to try, I'd recommend starting with the aloo pies and getting a curry chicken meal with a roti on the side. You won't regret it! read more

This place is a gem! The service is so nice, like you're coming into someone's home for a family dinner. We came on a Saturday night around 7pm and had plenty of seating available inside. We got the jerk chicken, goat curry, roti and fried plantains. Everything was soooo good. Chicken was moist, had great seasoning and fell off the bone. The chicken is spicy (I am also not very good with spice) however it was definitely worth powering through as it tasted so good. Goat curry was tender, delicious flavor and also very moist. Rice with both dishes were cooked well and had nice flavor. The salad was also nice and refreshing with a light dressing. Plantains were sweet and soft with a nice chewiness on some the more carmelized parts which were delicious. Lastly the roti is a must. It's buttery but light, it's thin and was delicious wrapped around both the chicken and goat. One thing to note is the sauce they give you on the table is SUPER spicy. This place is so good I went back to it within 2 days. Everything was great, the aloo pies were crunchy on the outside and the aloo filling was spicy which goes perfectly with the sauce they give. The jerk chicken was delicious! This was the first time I have had jerk chicken and i am going to keep coming back for it. The Pelau had a very homely feeling. Extremely flavorful. Loved it. I tried a bunch of other items on the menu, everything was good. The sweet fried plaintains were great the first time it was sweet, sticky and caramelized however the second time it was a bit dry.
