This place is like a nazi breakfast place. Avalon Island is small so we all walked from the hotel to this restaurant less than 5 mins. When we walked in I said party of 5, and they ask if all my party is here? I said couple step away, the girl was about the walked us in, the lady at the front was rude and they give us attitude said everyone must be here. As soon she said it they right in front of her. It not like we in the city traffic or need to parking.. we just all walking around island. Then, sat down with 3 kids 2 adult and been more than 5 mins no one came to read us and with kids we all looked through the menu ready to order. I raised my hands to asking for help. The host at the front ignore me and the lady at the front also ignored me. Then I raised my hands got attention to the man might host (manager) just standing around doing nothing. I said we are ready to order. In most case at all restaurants they all politely said I will let your server know. At this restaurant they give you attitude and said you have to wait for your waiter. Then, him and the lady laughing. Well, I don't even know who is our waiter. Then another girl cleaning the table said loudly you must wait for your waiter. Well, I don't Know how good is the food here. I got off and left because I don't feel like they want my business. They give you the impression either you take it or live it. I went to another restaurant close by called Original Jack's Country Kitchen, it was much better service and food was great. My mom and I were very excited to try out Pancake Cottage. We were spending the day at Avalon and unfortunately wanting to try their gluten-free pancakes ate up a good chunk of our day. We got here at 9:45a and there was a 45 minute wait for a table, even though there were plenty of open seats around us. The space smelled of bad B.O., our server wasn't the most pleasant, and it was over 100 degrees out which made our wait even more miserable. We weren't served until after 11:30a. The pancakes were good but definitely not worth the wait. The hashbrowns were half cooked. There are other gluten-free breakfast options just across the street. We would not recommend dining here and we don't plan on stopping by here again should we have another opportunity to visit Avalon. read more

This place is the bomb.com! It is very busy but you don't have to wait too long to get a seat. They have a great selection of drinks especially for brunch. My father got the Irish Car Bomb drink with the bacon waffles which he really enjoyed. He ate most of his food which was impressive for him. My mother got the fit scramble with home free potatoes and sourdough bread. She liked her food but was not able to finish it all since the servings are VERY GENEROUS. I got the prime rib sizzler with egg whites. IT WAS HUGE and delicious. I ate it all with ZERO guilt. It was too good to not eat all of it. They were accommodating and did not use butter and let me sub corn tortillas for the bread since I am DF and GF. Highly recommend. Food is good and huge portion sizes! read more

The reason for 3 stars is that the eggs benedict is smothered with a milk based white gravy instead of hollandaise. There was no discernable lemon taste making the dish very blah. there are 3 different versions, so i thought they were pros at it. Our server Alexa was very good and attentive, especially for how busy it was on a Sunday morning. The ham steak and bacon is quite good, the avocado is fresh, but the hash browns were undercooked and mushy. looking over at the next table, the steak looked good as well. I was really hoping for a stellar beni, but was not impressed. I will return next year and ask to taste the hollandaise so I can determine if they fixed it. Seriously good. Friendly, quick service, clean and bright interior and food is beyond acceptable. Provided everything we needed without having to ask - extra napkins, extra plates, pot of coffee and pot of hot water for tea, tea selection, spoons, etc. We were NOT neglected. We ate every bite. The food was dry and when we asked to change it to something else they didn't want to change it for us. Also the dishes were dirty. When we expressed our concerns we were doing so respectfully but the manager was being very disrespectful and rude to us. The cup was very dirty. I took my family there for breakfast after this being recommended. It took forever to get our food and the waitress was less then attentive. I had pork chops and eggs. The pork chops were very overcooked and dry with no flavor. My boyfriend and I wanted to try out this restaurant for breakfast. We got there at 930am and was told it would take about 20-30 mins, which we were okay to wait for. We got called to our table a little about 30 mins later. We sat at our table and was asked what we wanted to drink and eat. We got our drinks within minutes. Our food on the other hand, we never received it. Forty-five minutes went by and I noticed that 3 tables by us arrived around the same time, ate left and 3 new groups of people came and got their foods as we were STILL waiting on ours. I asked our waitress what happened to our order and she said she didn't know and would check on our order and give us a discount. Twenty more minutes went by and my boyfriend and I decided that if another table got their food before us, we would leave and go elsewhere. Another table did get their food, so as we were getting up to leave, one of the hostess (I believe she could have been a manager or owner) said, "goodbye, have a good day." I replied back saying, "it would have been if we got our food." She looked at us with surprise. My boyfriend and I repeated ourselves and I pointed at all the tables that got their food before us. We said we were just going to go elsewhere. She said she would check on our food, but we said we made up our minds to go elsewhere. When we walked out, my boyfriend said that they were lauging at us. I walked right back in and walked straight to the waitress and hostess and asked them what was so funny? They were surprised that I came back to ask. Then I said that it was very rude to laugh at the fact we never got our food and I walked away. The hostess came out and told my boyfriend that she never laughed at us. My boyfriend said,"I heard you or the waitress laughed at us, which was very rude and disrespectful." Our overall experience was horrible. I can see why they only have 3 stars. Would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was very good, pancakes were fluffy and syrup was very hot. Their chicken and Belgian waffle was so good, it was an extra crispy chicken breast. NEVER EVER EAT HERE!!!! My friends and I just got off the Catalina Express and headed to the Pancake Cottage around 10:45 am for breakfast. The location is on the beachfront boardwalk which makes it very convenient for tourists and locals who want a meal with a view. We got seated pretty quickly but everything went downhill from there. Our server came to our table about 10 minutes after being seated. My friend and I ordered the Fitness Scramble and my other friend ordered the Nutella Crepes. The Fitness Scramble had more Spinach than Egg Whites and Feta Cheese. The Spinach tasted like it was frozen and not fresh and it was very soggy. The Nutella crepes were nice looking until you looked inside and there was no NUTELLA inside. We called our server over and he argued with us and said the Nutella was in there. He basically insinuated that we were lying when we showed him the plate. He got extremely rude and walked away from our table. My friend went and found the Manager and she said she would send the server to our table. Basically her attitude and demeanor spoke volumes that said she couldn't and didn't wish to be bothered. The server said he would take a DOLLAR off the check because of the Nutella. We paid the bill but didn't leave a tip because of the server's horrible attitude. read more
