I have to say I was surprised at how good it was . chicken fried steak was perfect and waffle was amazing . Come check this place out

less than a ten min walk from the catalina express station. service: staff was quick but not very friendly. spanish and English speaking. food: the rice was very dry, the sauce on the chilaquiles was also very dry. portion size was huge and filling. the chips and salsa were yummy. great regular coffee, no latte's :( price: decent pricing total of 67 + tip for everything in the picture plus three coffees no re films were offered. read more

This was such a cute little spot to eat breakfast. It was a short wait and when we did sit down and gave our order, literally 5 minutes later our meal was already given to us and it tasted delicious. Service was fast as there was multiple servers walking around assuring everything was okay with my boo and I. We were in a rush because we had an activity planned so we were in and out in 30 minutes which was amazing. Next time forsure will go and enjoy the atmosphere a little more. read more

I seldom write a review but I'm stepping up this time because I read a couple recent bad reviews but went there anyway on a local recommendation. It was great. It appears to have been recently refreshed inside, and very clean. The whole staff was on it and every bite of the food was great. Fantastic location. I ate here on a Monday morning with my husband and two daughters (10 months old and 2 years old). We waited about 10 minutes for an amazing ocean view table with a delightful breeze. My Bloody Mary was INCREDIBLE! All our food was delicious. I got a breakfast burrito with some added veggies, my husband ordered an omelette and my daughters ate the cup cake pancakes and fresh fruit. Love the food! High quality, excellent flavor! Down side is the wait to get your table then plan on 30-45 min for food. When you are doing a one day trip you don't want to lose 2hrs on breakfast when you just get off the boat and you are hangry. We are regulars and each time we hope they improve on timing but they just don't have that aspect worked out yet. If you have time to kill, eat there. read more

I came to the pancake cottage after docking at Catalina. I asked them roughly how long the wait was, and they told me 45-50 minutes. So given that I asked if I could leave my number so I could go to the shop next door for the time being and they wouldn't take my number. So I said alright then that's fine I'll just be next door, I was there for about 20 minutes. While I was checking out I sent my sister over to see if they had called my name that way window shopping could have stopped for a little. So she told me they called the name but we have to wait for another table to open up. So I waited while my friend was finishing in a store. The hostess had announced my name and asked if the whole party was here I said my friend is finishing up next door. So the hostess goes back and tells the manager and the manager says why wouldn't she be here if she just came up and asked if I had called there name, then told her to call another table after I told them she was walking up from next door. The staff overall was nice but the manager needs to learn how to address problems with customers and not come across with the attitude she did towards me and my sister. I don't know if she did it because we were younger but regardless isn't a way to treat a customer. This was my second time giving this place a shot and I hate to say it will probably be my last. I love there pancakes but I don't love the way the manager thought it was fit to treat me or others. I understand it was busy but there are kinder ways to address situations than to come across rude, and like your above everyone else. read more

We came here yesterday for brunch. The food was ok. The eggs benedict was overcooked and took forever to come out. We had to remind our server who then brought it out. We were in a rush to pay so we didn't realize they then charged us twice for the eggs Benedict. I've been trying to call them but no one answers. Will not eat here again. read more

The staff is super friendly. They went above and beyond to get me a coffee while I waited for my table to be ready. The vibe is very positive and they have a great menu. Nothing to complain about here, will come back next time we visit Catalina Island. As a very detail-oriented perfectionist, I just have to say that I love the menu from a graphic design standpoint. Racist staff. We were told the wait time for outdoor seating was 10-15 mins but they gave the available tables to white people. We then had to wait 1 hour to be seated and even then we had to seat ourselves because the host sat some more white people down right after I had told him that we had been waiting for an outdoor table for an hour. This restaurant is AMAZING!!!! We've been in Avalon for 3 days and have have eaten here everyday. The quality of the food is excellent, tastes delicious and the service was spectacular. Also the view from the dining room of the water was a plus. They have huge windows to allow for fresh air to flow in, the restrooms were super clean. Everything seemed new, clean and fresh. We sat at the bar for faster service and while it was a little slow, it wasn't bad. We had a mimosas and baileys with coffee, which were great. Great food, good service and reasonably priced, we all had different kind of food but it all tasted great and we will definitely be back whenever come back to Catalina Island. The only 1 thing that is missing and might be improved would be using Yelp waiting list software solution that would notify us whenever out table ready rather than coming back and checking multiple times wheather the table is ready or not.
