I had high hopes for this place, especially when I saw the strawberry croissant French toast on the menu. Unfortunately, the flavors completely missed the mark for me. The French toast was a bit soggy and piled up with preserved strawberries that tasted kind of old. Would have been much better with fresh strawberries. We also had to ask for whipped cream despite the menu stating it was included. We also had the Italian sausage and cheddar omelette with hash browns and both of those items tasted bland. Even after salting it, it was disappointing how flavorless they were. Portions were huge, which meant we wasted a lot of our meal. It wasn't even worth taking it to go! OMG, first off let me tell you that I ate pie for breakfast!! As I was waiting in line I saw the most yummy-looking Peanut Butter Cup Pie ever. I ate it before my main course, too!! This restaurant is amazing. So many friendly folks. I ordered the chicken crepes as my main course. I was expecting chicken sauce inside the crepe, but it came on top of two cremes. After eating the pie I could only finish one of the crepes and took the other one to eat for dinner. It was so good both times. It has been a long time since I ordered a crepe and absolutely loved the yummy chicken sauce with the celery and almonds. I will always come back to this restaurant when I am in town :-) read more

We enjoyed a nice brunch here over the weekend while visiting town. We had good service. The restaurant has a homey nostalgic feel, which works for this type of food. They were busy with a bit of a wait before we were seated, though the line moved fast and they have a comfortable waiting area. Food was good (not great). In particular, we enjoyed the pancakes served with a strawberry jam syrup which had excellent flavor. I was less impressed with the egg omelette, which had a bit of a spongey texture, and I thought the hash browns could have been cooked a bit darker. We were there about 10:00 am on a weekday for breakfast (translated; not screaming busy, and we were seated almost immediately).. We were taken to a small booth right by the bathroom's which meant we watched a constant stream of patrons enter and exit the bathrooms. This also meant we were serenaded by the constant flushing of toilets in duos and trios, too. Our table had been freshly washed when we were seated. However, insultingly, it was quite wet, not damp. Like water/solution had been thrown on the table. It took some time for the table to dry. The Food After a fairly lengthy wait, our food was delivered. Although the servings were ample, I wasn't impressed with mine -at all. I ordered a sandwich on sourdough bread and a side of hash browns. The hash browns arrived barely browned; and were NOT fully cooked (think somewhat raw). And the sandwich; on toasted sourdough bread was a large disappointment, too. Clearly they do not bake their own bread, for this greasy, grilled disappointment was served on what appeared to be cheap grocery store "sourdough" bread. The server mention their patrons always leave full (due to the ample servings). However, if I wanted to eat at a trough and simply fill the gap, I could've gone somewhere else and not had to sit at a table that had been "slopped" clean while serenaded by multiple toilets flushing throughout my dining experience. read more

I was excited to bring my family to the Pancake Mill, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. It took a long time before our waitress came to take our order, and although she brought drinks, she never once came back to offer refills (all drinks come in very small glasses and our kids powered through their water within seconds). Eventually, my wife had to refill the kids' waters herself, walking out and grabbing the pitcher. When she ran out before all waters were filled, she politely asked the host for more, he snapped at her, telling her not to help herself. When she explained she couldn't find anyone earlier, he responded sharply "well you asked me just fine", then he spilled water all over the table, my son and wife before walking away without offering to clean up the water mess. The food also fell short of expectations. My hash browns were undercooked and gooey, and my eggs had so much raw egg white they were inedible. Last but not least, there were so many flies and bugs swarming us and our food while we tried to enjoy breakfast. I would say the building could use a good scouring! I had been excited to show my family the Pancake Mill, but between the poor service and poorly prepared food, we left very disappointed. read more

This was a good stop on a beautiful, scenic trip. I had the warm apple pie GLUTEN FREE waffles...boy were they decadent, rich and delicious! I added a side of bacon and it was so worth it: it was the really thick cut good stuff! Yum. The people dining at the next table told us that the Sunset Beach about 15 minutes off the beaten path in Columbus (?) was worth the drive...and boy were they right! Our waitress was friendly and so were the guys by the bakery. I was so glad we stopped! There was just a giant fly by our window, which our waitress said she'd take care of once we left. Didn't actually eat inside but from the pictures it looks like an absolutely adorable local old style diner! Had a couple of the pies brought to our Thanksgiving dinner. The Pumpkin Cream Pie ($23) and Double-Crusted Blackberry Pie ($25.50). The pies are sizeable and look absolutely magnificent! The blackberry filling was fresh and luscious and the whipped cream was clearly homemade. My only nit - Love that the crusts was THICK and sturdy (I am a crust gal) but there wasn't much buttery flavor in the crust itself. I suspect the crusts were gluten-free also as they were slightly grainy. read more

We were on vacation at the coast during the worst storm ever. It was a little bit hard, sitting in the RV, listening to the rain and the wind blow us around. All we ended up doing was eating. We found ourselves at the Pancake Mill restaurant. The ambience is what you expect of an older restaurant, but the food was absolutely delicious. The chocolate chocolate chip muffin was insane. Also, the blueberry cream cheese croissant with butter on the side was delicious. The waffle was great my husband wishes it was a little bit hotter. I had the most delicious pancakes ever. The only thing I would never order again is the ham and cheese omelette. They're literally was about four sprinkles of cheese on top. Normally cheddar cheese and ham is on the inside with the sprinkle on top as well. So we had an egg and ham omelette we felt. Now the prices were a bit higher than we expected. But the service was incredible and the food other than the omelette were outstanding! Definitely next trip back to the coast will be in the summer when it's sunshine is out and I will be having pancakes at the Pancake Mill restaurant again. read more

Great breakfast place in North Bend! Ate here twice on a recent trip along the Oregon coast and both times the place was buzzing and packed with customers. The waitresses were really friendly and the menu has all the classic standbys- with eggs, potatoes, breakfast meats, pancakes, waffles etc. The first day I was here I had the blueberry pancakes. They were outstanding and I couldn't finish the plate, it was 3 large pancakes and were very filling. The second day I had poached eggs and potatoes which were also more than adequate. We came into town for a week at bandon dunes and spent the night in Coos Bay the evening before. Not a lot going on in the area so expectations were low, but for breakfast the morning before our golf adventure started, we stopped by Pancake Mill and I'm very glad we did. I was with a large group and collectively we ordered just about everything on the menu. The pancakes were of course excellent, the omelettes were lights out, the muffins and pie were delicious. I was told how good this place was by friends so I gave it a try. Had to wait 30 minutes for service but that's fine. Once I ordered things went to hell. All my food and my wife food was Cold. I sent my eggs back but my wife did not want to send her food back because she gets worried what might happen when she get her food back. So she didn't eat. The coffee was hot but if you want more then one cup you will have to ask the server for more or she would just walk on by. Service sucked! Spent 75 dollars for cold food. Won't happen again because I will not be going back. I was excited to try this place . From one to ten. 3 all I would give this place and that being nice. Very disappointed in the service! My husband has 2 prosthetic legs and walked in using his cane. We were ignored, there was a waitress at the cashier counter (ignored us even after she helped a customer and even after he left) another waitress walked right past us without acknowledging us. Ok so I have been there quite a few times and every time I have gone for breakfast which is three times and there will not be a fourth the foot always comes out cold or almost cold they don't warm the plates and they don't actually toast the toast so much that the cutter won't melt at all the eggs all 3 times had to be sent back twice on one occasion and would have been a third time but the rest of my food was ice cold. By this time as they take the whole plate to redo the raw snotty eggs when I ordered them over medium each time . Good definitely substandard compared to three other local restaurants in coosbay that serve the same menu items . I highly recommend mom's kitchen in north-bend over this place I will not return ever even though a decades long resident. read more

Solid option for breakfast between North Bend and Coos Bay. You have to write your name on the check in sheet yourself. We would have never known this until a local pointed it out. Seems like a hostess would have been an easier option since I heard other people saying their names were crossed off as well. They are very strict on their mask policy, even though the CDC says otherwise. They had multiple employees repeatedly yelling at guests walking in that didn't have a mask on, which was comical. The food arrived quickly and everything was prepared how we asked. The portions were large and we left full. The pricing was fair for a place that's a little nicer than a typical diner. There's two parking lots, front with 4 spots, and back has two rows with questionable neighbors (as we were leaving two police cars showed up). Do NOT come here if you are on a hurry. Or on a Sunday. You wait to be seated 35 minutes, just to wait to order, 15 minutes, then wait to get your food 40 minute. Just to have "basic" food. See pictures. Maybe I couldn't enjoy the food due to the long wait. The staff were friendly, and over-worked, with 3 ladies on the floor, and 15 booths/tables. Not kid-friendly, cups is glassware. I saw two kids spill there drinks because they don't have kid-friendly cups. The portions are very big. read more

Over the past year or so I've ordered 2 cakes and 2 pies from the Pancake Mill. The cakes were both for birthdays, one was a German Chocolate cake that was excellent...big enough to feed an army too. The other was their Missouri Apple Cake and it was not good...very dry (overcooked) and crumbly with no apple flavor at all. That was a big disappointment because it was for my Mom's 96th birthday. Then we decided to buy pies for Thanksgiving this year rather than make them and the Pancake Mill's photos just looked so good. However, the actual pies were anything but good. We got the Almond Joy and the filling was a thick very chewy mixture of sweetened condensed milk and coconut with some slivered almonds. All of our guests commented on how they'd never had a pie so chewy and that it was "very rich" and they all left most of the pie on their plate. The cherry pie...my favorite kind of pie...was way under-cooked. The crust was pale without the golden crust you would expect a double crusted pie to have, the bottom crust was absolutely uncooked dough and stuck to the pie pan. The cherry filling tasted like the thickening agent and had that milky look rather than the translucent jelly appearance you expect of a fully cooked filling. Only a couple of small pieces were taken and they weren't even eaten. It was a real bummer because those were the only desserts we had and they cost over $70. I did let the cashier at the restaurant know and she apologized, and I emailed the manager but received no reply. read more
