We stopped by Pancakes-N-Things on a Saturday morning around 10am and it was packed. Thankfully, they have another parking lot right across the street, which is where we had to park, because the main parking lot near the restaurant was full. As soon as we walked in, it was quite a few people waiting in the small entrance area but we only had to wait about 10 mins before we were seated. The restaurant is very dated but in a good way. No frills, no aesthetics, just a normal, "down home" style restaurant and I loved it. Our server was nice and brought us over menus, waters and some coffee. Since it's called Pancakes-N-Things, I definitely wanted to try the Pancakes so we ordered one to try, along with the Western Omelette, the Catfish Breakfast, and a Fried Pork Chop. It took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive but everything looked good. Unfortunately, I wasn't a huge fan of the Pancakes but everything else was great. The Western Omelette was good and the Pork Chop was fried perfectly. The star of the show was definitely the Fried Catfish! It was phenomenal!!! We also ordered a side of Sausage Gravy that was also very good! Pancakes-N-Things offers breakfast, lunch and dinner so we will definitely be back to try some of their other items; however, I will definitely be getting the Catfish again lol! Ok I just had a flashback to my childhood and Sunday Mornings at Grandma's house. I had fried flounder, scrambled eggs and grits for breakfast today!!!! That combination only happened in my childhood so needless to say Pancakes and Things brought back some happy comforting memories today!!!! Then they started showing out and served me a homemade pan seared biscuit with Syrup!!!! What you talking about, I can't eat anything else for two days because of this meal!!!!! Sometimes you just want a traditional breakfast from a family owned diner. Pancakes N Things is perfect for that! The interior is simple, but the staff are super friendly and happy to be there. The menu is huge and includes all the breakfast classics you could want plus some extras. They also serve lunch items and have a kids menu. I went with a classic Greek omelet with home fries and a biscuit. The omelet was cooked perfectly and I loved the feta cheese chunks. I can be picky about home fries, but these were great- crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, with a little bit of flavor. The biscuit was probably the best thing on the plate. It's a small hole in the wall dinner but it packs all the love and ambience for anyone to feel right at home. I ordered a very typical breakfast, pancakes with eggs and sausage. The pancakes were huge and had the soft fluff everyone loves and eggs were nice and not dry and rubbery! This is a awesome location who also loves their community hero's (police) as I saw what I would assume was the owner take care of their bill without question. Second time here and this time came with a friend whom I gladly recommended this place; and she thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a wait around 15 to 20 minutes, but was worth it. Got coffee (free refills for $2.95) and steak omelet with provolone cheese (charged extra) with grits (or potato hash) and toast (or biscuit). Service was friendly. Just remember to bring cash since they don't accept credit card or check. They have an ATM in an alcove by the entrance. You pay $2 ATM fee but they refund the $2 if your bill is at least $20. This diner is a hidden gem. The decor is simple and fitting. The staff was wonderful. We ordered our food and it was brought to us promptly and hot. Absolutely DELICIOUS! With that you get the choice of grits or home fries and a biscuit or toast. My husband tried something new & ordered scallops on the side. We thought they'd be pan seared but they were fried and lacking flavor, so I wouldn't order that again. Our food was hot & arrived quickly. The waitress served us well. I usually always order to go, but today I ate inside. There was an odd odor inside & the decor is not appealing. I recommend just ordering to go. Please note that this is a cash only restaurant. I've passed by this restaurant for years and only recently tried them out. First disclosure is they are a cash only restaurant, so come prepared. The parking lot directly in front of the restaurant is usually very packed but they do have additional parking just across the street. This is a great place for good reasonably priced breakfast. Their fried fish is excellent. I also enjoy their corned beef Hash and omelets. Service is good and friendly. Only negative is both times I've been here their bathroom was closed, not sure if this is all the time or just the days I went there which were pretty close together. I also find it a bit strange that they also served Italian and seafood. These are not bad things because this business has been around for 40 years. For the service I got, it was pretty average. When I talk about the food, I can say that it was above average. The food was really good and very tasty. I ordered an omelet and some pancakes. I will say that the omelet tasted pretty good because it had various flavors inside of it, and it was really filling. For the pancakes, they were pretty good except for the butter. The butter tasted kind of salty, but it did not take away from the taste of the pancake. Overall, I would recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere with breakfast before or after work. I tried so hard to like this place. I even came back to give it another try but it's so mediocre. I will start this review by letting you know that this place takes cash only. A little stone age in my opinion, given it is now 2019 sis but ah kay... This establishment is not decorated any type of special way, it gives me good ol fashioned Annie Oakley diner vibes. I can imagine it has its regulars that keep it afloat. The menu is very simple. The drinks are even simpler. No lattes, cappuccinos, or specialty coffee. Just PLAIN coffee with PLAIN creamer, not even a French vanilla or Irish creme flavor sis so dont you even expect to get that. I ordered a hot chocolate and received a Luke warm watered down chocolate with what tasted like a fat free no sugar whipped creme. This made me sad. Our waitress seemed to have ants in her pants or was in a big rush because she dropped off the check right when we received our breakfast. I had to custom make my omelette since there omlette choices are very basic. It still had no flavor. I asked and paid for extra cheese but did not receive extra cheese. The Italian sausage wasnt seasoned properly and damn near tasteless. I thought all Italian sausage were created equal but I guess not. The service of this place was great. Walked in and was immediately greeted and told we could sit wherever we wanted. After receiving our menus and looking over them, we were immediately greeted by our waitress and asked if we were ready to order or at least knew what we were drinking. My first issue was that the steak omelette didn't come with cheese or any onions with it, it would be a add on charge which I added. I decline the biscuits and toast and asked with a single pancake which was also an added charge. Overall, the omelette wasn't that great, very bland. The home fries weren't much better but was good enough to eat. The pancake was probably the best out of the three items I ordered but for the price I was charge, I expected the pancake to big a little bigger. The sitting is opened space and another guest happened to order some type of fish which really woke you up with its smell. Oh and this is a cash only establishment.
