We've been to Panchos a few times now and overall I'd say our experience has been good. The big plus is their portions are generous. Their quesadillas are large and their fries are filled to the top in the to go box. The food has been tasty and good. I really like all the salsas. The lady taking orders isn't the most friendly but she does double check your order before you pay which I like. The restaurant is very small for indoor dining so it seems most people to go their food. There is a small parking lot right next to the restaurant. I paid $20 and I got 10% Carne Asada and 90% french fries and guacamole and sour cream sauce with a touch of bean paste.. halfway through my burrito was falling apart. Im disappointed. I came to this establishment in the morning around 11am to buy a california burrito, carne asada burrito and a carne asada taco. First off the cashier was very nice but she did not speak any english. I i should say it was limited . It took for me to say my order very slow in order for her to put it in the register. But thats okay what do you expect? The reason for my 2 star rating was because of the flavor of their food. The california burrito fires looked like it was overcooked or recooked from the day before. Overpriced food. The menu price is a cash price! I was very disappointed to learn this at the end of my transaction. A small fountain drink was $4.01 and my two fish tacos were $12.78. I did a double take when I saw the amount and I asked the guy "what's the deal with this" when my receipt said $18.26. That like $6 an item. Is this a California thing or what? He seemed apologetic so I do respect that as I know he understood my concern. The salsa bar was not well maintained or stocked at that time. Messy but maybe they were busy before I got there. Ok. I ordered through doordash and my experience was pretty pleasant. I only ordered the #5 chicken chimichanga, and i thought it was so good. It was decently priced and it's (surprisingly-ish) hard to find a burrito/chimichanga with shredded chicken and bell peppers & onions. Most places are usually just rice and/or beans with huge cubes of meat inside. So win for me! It was extremely juicy and flavorful, I honestly expected much worse bc of the reviews & the fact that there's a million Mexican restaurants in SD... and it was like 11pm. Watching the boxing matches and decided to grab some Mexican food. Haven't eaten here in a few years and decided to give them a try. They are located across the mall on busy "H" Street with a small parking lot. This go around we opt for a big breakfast burrito and a ham/carne torta. The big breakfast burrito is HUGE (see my hand reference pic) and the torta is big too. Now I didnt try the breakfast burrito but apparently it was a good, very good... (although in all honesty he's had a few beers but has also had a ton of breakfast burritos from different locations).... as for my torta. Ive always liked their beans... but the carne asada was too overcooked and flavorless for me. Otherwise the torta was perfectly cheesy... perfect flavor. The other downfall, no salsa... how do you order food from a Mexican taqueria and NOT get Salsa!? That is definitely a no-go and just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Such horrible customer service. Ordered a burrito and was given and charged the wrong one. Cashier kept saying that's what we ordered, we just wanted to pay the difference of the two burritos to get the correct one. They used the same burrito and just added French fries to it. We asked to have it remade as this burrito they gave us has ingredients not even listed in the one we ordered. Cashier made us pay for a whole new burrito to get the one we asked for from the beginning. Spent $33 for one burrito in the end. I am not Mexican nor am I from Cali. But I will say that for great pricing, this food was delicious to me. I had the fish burrito which it did have a lot of breading but it was delicious nonetheless. I also had the Chile relleno side order and it was great, better than the one that I got from Carnival supermarket. The guacamole was just basic blended avocado, not much love into it. As I drove through the drive thru the place was packed! I think this spot deserves more stars. I will definitely be going back for quick, cheap and tasty Mexican food! Just left the place about 20 mins ago... I should have taken the signs and asked for my money back before my food came out. Every single salsa was salty beyond compare. I hoped that maybe it was a slip of the hand... Then we received our food. Two chicken bacon ranch burritos. As soon as you took a bite the texture of your mouth would immediately change, the amount of salt was unbearable. We did not eat our burritos because in all honesty, I think consuming that much salt can cause serious harm. Probably more salt than we eat in a week condensed into one burrito.
