This afternoon I ordered a family meal which included Teryaki Chicken, Orange Chicken, Rice and Chow Mein. When we returned home we found that the chicken was dry with no teryaki sauce. We also had nothing else in the bag, not even fortune cookies. To top it off at the drivethru window the employee handed us a bag and didn't say much of anything. I called the restaurant and the employee stated that they typically do not put teryaki on the teryaki chicken unless requested by the customer. I also stated that they did not offer soy or hot sauce and there was no fortune cookies. I advised her that I was going to leave a review and she encouraged it. I was visiting South Bend for work so I don't frequent this location, but from this visit I'm not sure why they've got such a bad reputation. Food is good (you probably know what you're getting into here) and I didn't see any red flags personally. I didn't personally experience this since I arrived at the right time I suppose, but the line was long for the entire time we were eating. There were only 2 or 3 people working at a time and that hardly seemed sufficient for the amount of customers they had at the time. If you're in a hurry, I would make sure the line is short before you head in. With an extra staff member or two and shorter wait times, that extra star would be there. read more

I ordered teriyaki chicken and super greens on 06/12/19. As I was eating my food I noticed a worm in the greens. I returned to the restaurant on 06/15/19 and was told by the manager Sam I waited too long to get a refund. She said my order was no longer in the system. She said since it had been so long it would be a long process for me to get my money back and wasn't worth it because my order was only $8. I showed her a picture of the worm and she offered no apologies. She said it was a quality issue. I am highly dissatisfied with the food and service I received. read more

There's a reason Pandas are near extinction. Actually...naming this place after a slow moving Panda makes sense...they're always slow. I'll second what everyone else said. I can't believe a place like this can even have a drive through. Stopped in yesterday (3/15/19). The 20 something manager with black hair and gaudy black eye make-up got three points for agreeing to accommodate a special request I made. But she lost the three points by walking away while I was trying to talk to her, and her overall negative attitude. Was great when they opened but their current staff are terrible. The last 4 times, we have waited 20+ minutes when they weren't even busy. Today we waited in line 20 minutes then when it was our turn to order they were out of chow mein, orange chicken, and terriyaki chicken (the only 3 things we order). They said it would be 7 minutes for chow mein and orange chicken (it's always twice as long as they say). They said they had no terriyaki chicken. We left with no food. I also thought having the large plastic bags of frozen foods sitting on the counter to be "wokked" was quite the turn-off. I absolutely love Panda Express, this location not so much. Everytime I attempt to use the drive through I just sit there by the speaker waiting for them to acknowledge that I'm even there. Like, uh is this working? Do they even know I'm here? A simple I'll be with you in a moment is enough, but the customers don't even get that. Not to mention they're never prepared for rush hour. You should have idea of what foods you need to make extra for and if it's one car holding the line up, ask them to pull around front. It's not rocket science. read more

We have been eating at the Mishawaka, IN Panda Express since it opened. We have always loved it. The employees were always nice, the portions amazing, and they always had fresh food coming up, even when it was an hour before they closed. The last couple times we have gone, including tonight, the staff have been rude. There was a lot of food that was empty and so we had to wait a long time. The young, dark-haired girl behind the counter (no name tag) barely put a full scoop of chicken into both my container, my husbands, and other customers before and after us. Which is ridiculous considering the costs. If this is a new policy, we are done going to Panda Express. Which is a shame, because we used to love your food. We could almost have over-looked the small portions if the employees hadn't been so rude. But, we also saw the way the awesome drive-thru girl piled the food on for the people in drive-thru with a smile, the way the other employees used to. But, we never go through drive-thru because it is soooo slow. But, the cost of the food vs. the lack of portions and the really crappy attitudes combined with the long waits are not worth it. Especially with Taste of Asia and other Asian restaurants around Mishawaka. I really hope this location can get its workers and managers (a lot comes from the leaders) into shape, or this place will not be open much longer. Sadly, I don't believe my husband and I will be going back to find out of anything has changed. read more

Pros: We have used their drive-thru on several occasions and they have NEVER messed up our order, it's been %100 correct every time. This might not seem like a big deal, however, we are usually ordering for a group of 5 or more with a vegetarian in the mix. Large orders/dietary restrictions often confound other drive-thru employees *coughtacobellcough* so accuracy is refreshing. Also food quality is consistently great and the side veggies are always fresh, never soggy. Cons: Wait time is always 20 minutes or more. The price. I could easily get more for my money at a traditional Chinese take-out joint, however it can be hard to access accurate nutritional information of local ethnic cuisine...so I'll pay extra. The spring rolls and crab rangoons are typically over fried. Also their drive-thru menu is a limited version of what's available inside which is unfortunate. read more

I love Panda Express, always had good food ... Until yesterday. The staffing seemed adequate in number, but they didn't get much done. The food was slow. My chicken dish wasn't hot. My vegetables were barely steamed and they had just come out if the steamer. Tables were dirty. Two of the three iced tea choices were empty. The floor was dirty. I want to like this place but this location keeps having staff issues. My last visit, we had to wait because they couldn't keep food stocked, no real communication between coworkers and no reasonable compensation for those who ordered. They basically took your order, asked you to pay, then way. Completely took the "express" out of their name. I've seen new employees over and over at this location and even new managers. The two steak entrees were very good, they actually tasted like steak and the shrimp were big! The sweet heat chicken was pretty good as well. That's about it, the rest of the chicken tasted like any other generic Chinese food. The egg rolls tasted like they came out of the freezer and the chow mien noodles were dry and bland. read more

I would avoid this place at all costs. I was recently going to eat at this panda and as I walked in I witnessed an employee bringing in raw chicken from the back of his car. Not on ice or anything. A few pieces of chicken had actually fallen into the trunk and he just quickly put them back in the bin with his bare hands. I might also mention it was 101 degrees that day and was again in the trunk so it was probably even hotter back there. It's always been my experience that the free standing Pandas are better than the food court counterparts and that especially holds true with this new location. Lots of comfortable seating and a great selection. You won't leave hungry either! We love the sweet fire chicken and the black pepper chicken is my personal favorite. Wow is all I can say. Not only did I get cold food at 8:30 pm, I watched them using the same dirty pans over and over to put fresh food in on the service bar. The worst Panda Express I've ever been to. The service there was very slow and it seemed like nobody was trying to make a difference. Everyone was waiting on a certain item because the people cooking weren't trying to get it done fast enough. I was in there for 30 minutes waiting to get my two plates, a bowl, and a side. That was the longest I've ever waited in line at a Panda Express. Usually the workers are at a very fast pace at any average panda. When they first opened, all was good. However, the last 4 times we've gone here and they're consistently out of something "out of Shanghai" or "out of vegetables" or out of our favorite chicken. How are you "out of vegetables" when you're right in front of a Meijer store? We LOVE Panda Express food but will not be going there anymore. Would rather go to the UP Mall Food Court as their Panda Express still has 'bourbon chicken' on the menu and they've never run out of vegetables. Their drive-through should be called Panda-not-Express because they ask you to pull around and 'will bring food out' to you, then they forget. So, I opened the lid and the food was cold form sitting, so.... maybe they do better during the day but the evenings and weekends have been subpar. read more

Seems as though the "cooks" here have no sense of urgency. Main food chinese........normally accompanied by rice. However, when I get up to order, they are out of fried rice with none cooking. You've got one job.... Now I am going to have to wait 15 or 20 minutes. I left. Every time I want to go to Panda I have to mentally get my mind prepared for the wait. I patiently made it through the line and now am told another 15 to 20 minutes. Also betting the additional wait time, I was quoted, was if I was lucky. I wouldn't normally post after 1 bad experience, stuff happens, but multiple times I've witnessed this at the Mishawaka, IN location.
