robin henry Local Guide·29 reviews·1 photo…read morea week ago New Lunch | $10-20 I ordered their Mandarin Deluxe with garlic which is supposed to come with Chicken, beef, and shrimp and mixed vegetables and fried rice. What I received was only the chicken and no beef or shrimp. When I called to complain the Chinese lady said it's what I ordered when it plainly wasn't. Also, the fried rice was like steamed white rice with no carrots or peas. I was raised that the customer was always right and to fix a problem when one arose. This place did not offer to do anything unless I brought the plate back. I told them I would but we only get 30 minutes for lunch so I had to eat what I got, like it or not. I won't be back to this "Blue Roof" Fortune Village restaurant because it's getting added to my banned list. China One is SO much consistently better!!!

I thought it was this place so today when I wanted some Chinese I called and ordered from here but once I pulled in a realized this wasn't the same place, but was hopefully it would be good. It was not. I'll mention the positives first. I called in my order while leaving Kroger. It was ready by the time I pulled into their parking lot. So it took maybe 3-4 min. The service was friendly and the food came out fast and hot. Unfortunately it was horrible. I ordered the crab angels and the fried wontons. The crab angels were super super salty. Inedibly salty. And very oniony. The fried wontons were on the opposite side of the spectrum where they were pretty bland and flavorless. I ate two of each item hoping that my first impression of them was wrong and trying to convince myself that they weren't as bad as I thought. But they were. I hate wasting food, or money, but I had to throw these away because I just could not eat them. Both were also extremely greasy. I could feel the oil in my arteries and pores. So that was $14 wasted. Maybe other things on their menu are better but I'm not willing to try it again. After eating food from the Ashland city Chinese restaurant I thought it was the worst I've ever had but this place was just as bad or actually worse. I think the place I liked was called china one after searching more following this mix up. So I'll try and remember to go there next time

Last week I was in Goodlettsville for business and I saw China Cottage in the same center. It was lunchtime and I went in to see what was on the menu. I opted for this dish that was mainly bell pepper, mushrooms, onion, a few scallops and sliced beef in a brown sauce. While it was tasty, I thought it would not stand up against any of the Asian cuisine I was used to eating in the San Gabriel Valley. I would return because it outshines any of the Chinese fare I have eaten in the White House area. I truly enjoyed my meal; it is just hard to measure up against where I came from.

I have a few go-to Chinese spots around town, but was in the immediate area recently and wanted to scoop dinner up, so I made a call to China Cottage and about 20 minutes later I had to goods. I ordered the classics of sesame chicken, house fried rice, wonton soup and an egg roll. All were tasty, not the best, but certainly far from the worst. Portion size is huge here, I mean they pack the containers to the brim. Food was also clearly cooked to order as it was still piping hot when I got it home and opened. Space inside is decorated as you would expect. They have a good size dining room with booths and tables, and even have a few seats at a small bar near the entry way. The place was clean, and well kept. Service was friendly and helpful from the phone to pick up. Overall, solid experience at China Cottage. Definitely worth adding to the rotation.

The owners of the restaurant are very kind and go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied. They even opened up a buffet when we asked for one, but it had to close because they did not have enough business to support it and too much food was going to waste. This is unfortunate because many of the items on the buffet were wonderful and not something you would order every day. We have watched their children grow up and now our working the family business themselves and doing a great job. We look forward to many more years of wonderful Chinese food that is so convenient to run and get any time they're open. we send a huge heartfelt, thank you to the owners for their 20 years of service and kindness, God bless!

I went back to my hotel room only to realize that I did not have the white rice that I ordered to go with it. I contacted the restaurant to let them know that my order was not complete and was advised that I could come back and pick up the rice or get a replacement the next day. When I went back I was only offered the white rice no shrimp but with two sodas to complement their mistake. The shrimp was dry and turning white and couldn't eat it even without the rice. Would not be going back there ever again.

The prices are very reasonable & parking is not hard to find as it is located in a plaza with Kroger right next to it. Everything in the menu is worth trying. There is not a single thing I have ordered that I have regretted. When I first came here I would only order the seafood noddle soup. The flavor from that soup is something I have never experienced before and my taste buds have always been satisfied with that soup, but the more I go the more I try something new and each time I don't regret it! That's so rare for everything in a menu to hit?! Some other entrees I have tried are loved are the sweet and sour chicken, beef yaki udon, Thai basil fried rice, pad Thai noodles, and the Singapore beef mei fun noodles. The appetizers all are incredible too some of my favorites are the crab Rangoon's, coconut shrimp, scallion pancakes, and the shrimp shu mai. The Thai iced tea is a must here! I get it every single time I visit.

I ordered the coconut fried rice because I love coconut and thought it sounded delicious. Wrong. It was so bland and odd tasting. It wasn't so bad I couldn't eat it but I had to add some of my friends regular fried rice to it to make it enjoyable. Now on the veggie spring rolls. They're definitely frozen and not freshly made. I could tell because of how mushy they were. All in all it was a pretty disappointing meal. I think this place might be good for standard American Chinese but they missed the mark on the dishes I ordered. I'll stick with my usual thai spot for freshly made and seasoned food. I did takeout and the food was ready quickly... maybe another reason it wasn't good? Idk go at your own risk.

Peking has quite the positive reviews overall so we decided to try them out by doing pick-up. It's so refreshing living in a town that everything is opened past 8pm. Our go-to Chinese restaurant back in NC closed at 7pm, so this was a nice treat. My husband went inside to get our order, which was made very quickly. The building definitely looks on the older side and parking is only one way, which was confusing at first. I ordered the pork fried rice, egg drop soup, and wonton soup for myself and my husband ordered chow mein, lo mein, and we shared beef with broccoli, something else I've been craving. The food in general was okay, some outstanding more than others. His lo mein was delicious and my egg drop soup was honestly the BEST egg drop soup I have ever had. It was more broth-y than the standard Chinese restaurant's version and it had a few carrot strips and green onions in it. The pork fried rice was probably the biggest let down. There were no veggies in it and have very little flavor. The wonton soup's broth was nice but the wontons themselves were borderline flavorless. It was very hit or miss with everything we ordered. My husband and I have both been having stomach cramps the past two days since ordering here, both day of and from leftovers. It's unfortunate but we will have to continue to look for our next go-to Chinese restaurant.
