I wanted to keep this place a secret but it is too good not to share with everyone. As you walk in the server instantly guides you to a table, each time I come the service is pretty quick and there is usually no wait. The prices are very reasonable & parking is not hard to find as it is located in a plaza with Kroger right next to it. Everything in the menu is worth trying. There is not a single thing I have ordered that I have regretted. When I first came here I would only order the seafood noddle soup. The flavor from that soup is something I have never experienced before and my taste buds have always been satisfied with that soup, but the more I go the more I try something new and each time I don't regret it! That's so rare for everything in a menu to hit?! Some other entrees I have tried are loved are the sweet and sour chicken, beef yaki udon, Thai basil fried rice, pad Thai noodles, and the Singapore beef mei fun noodles. This place offers a variety of Asian food. Chinese, thai, and Japanese. I regrettably ordered from the Thai side and it was not good. I ordered the coconut fried rice because I love coconut and thought it sounded delicious. Wrong. It was so bland and odd tasting. It wasn't so bad I couldn't eat it but I had to add some of my friends regular fried rice to it to make it enjoyable. Now on the veggie spring rolls. They're definitely frozen and not freshly made. I could tell because of how mushy they were. All in all it was a pretty disappointing meal. I think this place might be good for standard American Chinese but they missed the mark on the dishes I ordered. I'll stick with my usual thai spot for freshly made and seasoned food. This place was right next to our hotel so we went and it was amazing! Our server was very sweet, and we ordered a buttload of food. The salad is absolutely to die for. Considering the difficulty finding passable Chinese food in the Nashville area, we were surprised to come upon another location of The Rice Box. Not sure if part of a chain, but I'm reviewing this one independently because we were in the area and ate at this establishment. Scallion pancakes were a bit oily but quite good. Hot & sour soup was decent as well. The eggroll had good flavor and was very crispy, but the veg inside were mushy. Not my fave but definitely not the worst either. DH had Szechuan chicken and I had Pad Se Yo. Flavor on the Szechuan chicken was great. All white meat dish, veg perfectly cooked and served with rice. It was my first time having Pad Se Yo. The Thai basil flavor was very strong but overall the dish was quite good. Beef perfectly tender, wide rice noodle was perfect paired with the sauce and cilantro. We love Rice Box!! I haven't been able to have wheat for a while but Rice Box was the first place I wanted to go when I could add it back into my diet! I had orange chicken and hibachi rice and it was perfect! The kids shared lo mein and they ate it up! My husband had beef and broccoli and had no complaints. I Tried Rice Box Friday night for takeout since I didn't feel dining in. Ordering by phone was easy since the app didn't have online ordering available. The staff was polite, took my order quickly, and provided the total, though they didn't mention how long it would take to be ready. The food was done in about 15-20 minutes when I picked it up, and the server was friendly. I ordered the Basil Fried Rice with Shrimp and the Coconut Curry with Beef. Both were delicious! The basil fried rice was amazing--hot, fresh, and full of flavor. They were very generous with the shrimp, giving about 6-8 large ones, not the skimpy 3-4 you sometimes get. The curry was rich and came with a side of rice. While the portions were generous and the food was fresh, they didn't include any utensils, chopsticks, or napkins in the bag--just soy sauce and fortune cookies. Luckily, I was eating at home, so it wasn't a big deal. The restaurant is located in the Kroger parking lot, so there's plenty of parking. The serving staff was quick to seat us, and very attentive. When first reviewing the menu, I noticed in multiple areas that they use jumbo shrimp. We ordered the Happy family and the shrimp pad Thai. Our meals were so tasty we forgot to take pictures. The vegetables as well as the cuts of meat were generous and delicious. Rice Box is located in the strip mall but don't let that misleading you. I ordered the red snapper and was very disappointed. It was clearly just frozen fish ( I think) of some kind, I doubt it was red snapper, I could be wrong. I was expecting either a fried whole fish or filet. It was small cut pieces in some breading that was as grainy as sandpaper but soggy at the same time and tasted weird. This is my comfort Chinese restaurant. I used to go for lunch when I worked near by now I get it delivered for dinner. I love their wonton soup and their sweet and sour chicken. I'd like to see just a little more char on the chicken... I also got the sizzling shrimp (don't judge, I was ordering with the intent of having leftovers.)... it had some kick. We just moved here and there wasn't a lot to choose from on maps and went by the 4star rating which doesn't seem accurate when you look at complaints. We ordered to go. Staff was very nice. Food was terrible. Wonton soup tasted like it had a cleaning chemical in it! Im hoping for the best and praying the pot just wasn't rinsed well but it was a very strong taste. Chicken lettuce wraps- sauce is good but chicken was so over fried it was hard and had a rotten oil taste! Ruined the dish. Combo Fried Rice was way too dry. The only thing ok was beef with vegetables. Biggest problem was my husband, daughter and I all got horrible stomach aches after and ended up in the bathroom. We didn't even eat much and only each tasted the soup. Scary! Something needs to change! Will never go back or recommend. All of the food needs more seasoning, more flavor, just more love. I ordered the Tom Yum soup and it was extremely bland and it kinda went downhill after that. Everything was just meh, everything was under seasoned and lacking the wow factor that makes you come back to a restaurant. I would recommend to whoever is cooking the food or creating the recipes to have a tasting session and invite other chef's and get some feedback. The difference between ok and great is being real about your food, it's needs more flavor. Service was nice, place was clean, just need to work on those recipes and get them to pop. I left feeling like I wanted go somewhere else to get real Tom Yum soup. Go to other restaurants and order the same dishes, compare and contrast, maybe redo some of the recipes? My husband and I originally stopped to get fast food and ended up stopping at what we thought would be a little hole in the wall but were pleasantly surprised by the inside appearance! We were immediately greeted by Susan who sat us down and took care of us. I ordered Thai basil vegetable delight with shrimp & a side salad and my husband ordered Thai basil with beef and it was absolutely delicious. The side salad had its original toppings along with cranberries, pineapple & wonton crisps which was a unique and wonderful pairing with the delicious ginger sauce. There was no hostess but you wouldn't even notice because both servers were so hard working, attentive and did amazing team work even with the restaurant being nearly full. Even the bathrooms were super clean and nice. Basically, I cannot rave enough about this place. Highly recommend and will definitely be back if we're ever in the areas again! read more
