So UNREASONABLE and NOT accommodating at all... 3rd time eating here. First 2 times were good. Nothing to complain about. This time 3rd time: I had a HUGE group of 11 people out for a celebration dinner. Time was 5pm. Outside was HOT weather, so we wanted to go inside and wait for the rest of the party. The other 2 cars were on the way but still in traffic due to rush hour and crash on 694. We came from 1 hour drive away!!! Place was totally empty. No customers yet. The buffet has 2 big table areas for huge dinner groups. 6 of us were waiting and manager only has 2 chairs for waiting area. She REFUSE (and I mean REFUSE) to allow us to sit at 1 of the large dining table that we would be sitting at to eat dinner. Manager could WATCH us if she was concerned about something. It's not like we look sketchy or anything... 2 adult ladies and 4 girls - ages ranging from 10 to 23 years old. Manager reason: just in case another big group comes in. Policy is that everyone in party needs to be present before being seated. (Understandable if place was busy and people were eating). The place was EMPTY!!! Manager also said we could NOT pull some chairs from the big table for us to sit near the waiting area. We wanted that option because she would NOT allow us to sit AT the table. We would be blocking the entry way. We are ALREADY blocking the way anyway with 6 of us standing there!! Since she was manager, guess I will need to talk to owner. After the remainder of our party got there 5 minutes later and paid, she says: You can sit wherever you want. NEVER GOING BACK EVER AGAIN! Guess the amount of tip that was left this night for an over $200 transaction?!? I purposely spoke LOUDLY the whole time I complained to my family so manager would hear my thoughts about how ridiculous this experience was. It's a buffet so I never have cover much. The chicken curry noodle (kapoon) is as actually more flavorful than I expected, however I like mine more creamy so I could have used more coconut milk. The Thai boat noodle was a bit water down for my liking. The soup selection was very nice, we didn't get to try all of them. The selection of food was what you would expect. There are a couple Hmong dishes, the cold chicken, pig feet and knuckle (kind of disappointing they didn't just make it into sweet pork). The papaya salad was very bland, the Hmong pepper was good, could have been more spicy. The location has a big parking lot, the inside was a typical buffet setup. Very dim lighting. The staff doesn't interact much with you at all. When you arrive they give you your utensil and you seat yourself where ever. They come around to pick up your used dishes but thats it. It's unfortunate, I don't think anyone check on us at all to make sure everything was ok. I understand that it's a buffet so everything is self serve, but it was honestly the weirdest experience not having any interaction with the staff. The most interaction was when I was ordering my noodles. Also, they close at 8 PM everyday. The will no longer seat customers after 7PM so if you wish to dine in, make sure you arrive early. Food was okay. There are some options you don't typically get at other buffets so that ups the star factor by one. My favorite part is the build your own Tricolor dessert drink. The place could use more seating as it gets crowded and the line moves slowly. The staff were kind enough. A little dingy, but its a cheap AYCE buffet spot so it's in-par with expectations. It gets pretty busy but staff clears the tables quickly. I love how you can get both Chinese and Hmong food at this buffet which was so surprising and nice for me because this side of the cities don't usually have a lot of Hmong food options (at least compared to St. Paul). There is both a DIY pho bar (Hmong style) and tri color dessert bar which makes it fun. For other Hmong food options there is Lao style papaya salad, boiled chicken and yes even Hmong pepper! Everything is pretty much self serve including drinks. I do agree that some of the dishes weren't fresh looking or needed to be filled but also it was just starting to get busy so I think they were just keeping an eye out to not waste food. Hmong buffet! They have papaya salad, sticky rice (ask the person who distributes the pho broth), pork belly (dinner menu), Hmong sausage, pho, curry, and make-your-own tri-color! Fun American dishes for the kids such as: cheese pizza, chicken wings, and ice cream (and not the soft serve kind; the real deal in an ice cream freezer). Food tastes fresh and well balanced flavors. Other pluses: big parking lot. Quiet service--if you don't want anyone to bother you, this is a great place to be. It's also nice that you can grab your own drinks so you don't have to wait for a waiter to do it for you. Affordable prices. Remember, this is a buffet, so don't expect high restaurant quality. Perfect to bring your Hmong elders for the crawfish, boiled pork feet, cold boiled chicken, and other Hmong favorites. I don't know any other place that does a Hmong buffet, so this is my new favorite place to go to. Went there on a Sunday afternoon for family of 4. They have a temperature taker right before you get to the cash register to check in your party and pay first before they bring you to your table. The buffet has a smaller selections compare to all the big chain buffets. It's more of a Hmong buffet. They have a pho station where you can requests for pho, curry noodle soup, spicy noodle, boat pho, white rice and sticky rice. I had the spicy noodles (where they only do it in the weekends.) it was pretty good. The boat pho is pretty decent too. I say compare to a lot of places it's not bad at all. The nab van was not bad but I feel like the coconut milk they have is a little bit water down. I'm thinking they use the powder coconut to make coconut milk. Spicy chicken was good as it has a hint of sweet and spicy to it. Chicken drumstick was quite crispy. Overall the food was pretty good not bad at all. Only downfall is I feel like they were a little bit short staff as many tables didn't get refills on their beverages nor were they collecting away dirty dishes. The selections of hot foods weren't being stock fast enough. There were a few times when we went up and there wasn't any thing stock. (Which is why it's not a 5 star.) So we went to the pho station more. I have to admit the lady that was working the pho station did a great job of constantly stocking the pho station, checking on the tri color station, and making sure everything on that side is stock. VERY rude employee working behind the noodle/pho counter. When I first asked for some plain rice that's behind the counter where she works she already displayed rudeness through her voice. When I went up again for some noodles I had accidentally overlooked the small post-it sticky note explaining which tong to use and ended up using the wrong tong to grab cilantro/green onions. So then the same lady working the counter walked up to me and asked me, "Do you read?". - I understand that she could've had a long day, or maybe she already had to deal with many people before me who used the wrong tong too. Butt there were just so many other things she could've said other than what she said. And if many people before me had also used the wrong tong too, then doesn't that just mean the restaurant should invest into a bigger sign? or maybe even just putting that sticky note where it's least likely to be missed? For a Asian Hmong buffet, it's really good. They are clean and the food are so organized. The waitress is super nice and sweet. I have no complaint about the food. Went today at lunch time and it was disappointing. The food was not refilled in a timely manner, bathrooms were dirty, and service slow. I understand there is new management and they may not be ready yet, but they shouldn't have opened if they weren't prepared. There's a latent sadness with Panda Garden Buffet. It could be a great place, but it comes off the wrong way, and that is really sad. As others have mentioned, the host seems to be perpetually cranky or curt and not a master of first impressions, to say the least: a gatekeeping guard, rather than a welcoming host. The kitchen manager stands near the food and watches eagle-eyed over the food, to ensure that things don't run out, but he does it in such a way that he stares at you and it creeps me out. There is such a visible mistrust and apparent disdain by the owners that it creates a bad first impression as well as subsequent impressions. (We've been here three times.) The grill is closed early too often. That's disappointing. It feels like they're tired, letting the place go, lighted panoramas are fading, and that they don't really care. Hopefully I'm wrong about that. Food is pretty good and there are lots of choices, some of which are better than others. Good stuff: veggie lo mein, fried bananas, mocha cake. However, given the perception of the quietly confrontational attitude here, it will be hard to return. read more

I love to support local business, we are new to town so decided to try this place. I probably wouldn't come back though because the food is not to my liking. I can honestly say the only thing i enjoy here is the tri color. I LOVE buffet. Its my to go to but this place just doesn't set right with me. I tried the boat noodles and flavors were off, taste like water with just noodles in there. I can smell the herbs but its just not flavorful, even when i put the condiments in it, it still wasn't good. My girls LOVE crawfish, they can eat plates of it but my Little one had a couple and wouldn't eat it no more, my oldest had one and said no. The coconut shrimps, my favorite dish, taste like sugar shrimps. It was dead sweet. The orange chicken was so sweet as well. The food here is either too bland, dead sweet, or very salty and there's no balance. Got thai ice tea for us as well and i cannot even taste the tea because it was way too sweet, i had to add extra ice to balance it out. The crab rangoon has so crab, just cream cheese. You can tell The deep fried shrimps was old because it was very dry. My oldest love pizza so she got a slice of pizza, she told her daddy, "I can't eat it, its hard as rock." To our surprise, its so hard even my husband cannot bite into it. I was afraid to waste food because they charge for that, plus every time i eat i think of the people who has no food to eat, therefore i always try my best to finish what i eat. For $21.00 plus tax there are no beef options, not even sweet and sour chicken or the sauce! All the chicken dishes that they have were mushy or slimey. They told us they don't serve sweet and sour chicken at dinner only at lunch time. Where is the beef and broccoli? This place had very few options. Not even white rice. I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. If it was a $10 buffet I'd maybe think about going there. The idea of a buffet is to have multiple options to eat. That is not the case here. Hard to rate fast food style Chinese. If I was to compare it to some of its neighbors, like Leeann Chins I would give it another star. Really just for the fact it doesn't taste like you're licking a block of salt it deserves a star over LAC! That said, this place does have a pretty good selection of items to choose from. We have frequented this business over the past couple years. Our last visit we were appalled to discover that they had increased their dinner prices by roughly $5 per person. For two people our bill was $41.84 which is outrageous for what you get. The menu selections were very limited. However when my card was charged the total was $48.12. They added a 15% wasted food charge on an already inflated buffet price. The food is marginal at best. The establishment does not seem clean. The salt and pepper shakers were very sticky and gross. We tried contesting our bill and they refused to do anything about it. We will never eat there again. read more

I've been going to this buffet for years, although I've never actually stayed and dined there. The whole concept of to-go buffet is both hard for others to understand and a godsend once they do. ("What? You take it with you? Isn't that against the rules?") The quality at PG has gone downhill over the past couple of months, but the selection is decent. If you don't mind going the distance, the C-1 buffet in Brooklyn Center (across the street from the Brookdale library) has a much better selection, food that's easier to digest, and a cashier who doesn't creep people out. The cashier at Panda Garden is one of the strangest human beings I've ever met. She's extremely slow and almost robotic in her movements. She's never said two words to me. I've even asked to buy soda from the fridge behind her and she ignores me every time. It's a losing battle. Dingy looking and expensive. My husband & I came in a Saturday for lunch and it was $37 for the both of us. Even that wouldn't have been bad if everything had been good, but it wasn't. Some was pretty good, but then other stuff was subpar. There were crab claws that had cooked so much they were nothing but mush. I have been here a few months ago and it was good.
