I can't believe I'm reading so many negative reviews! Went to the nearby mall with our toddlers and decided to come here for lunch. For two adults it was only like $26-$28 (don't remember exactly) and our kids ate free which is AWESOME! When we go to any fast food place it costs easily $40 so this was nice. I thought it was very clean and quiet, the staff was super friendly, and we loved the food! It was actually nice to be able to choose all of our kids favorites and sit down as a family for a meal! Today was my first time eating at this location. I eat out at many places frequently with my family so I was curious about this location. The food was good, the service was pleasant? However there was a very disgruntled female manager there. I was 9 months pregnant and we had our 3 year old son with us. My husband and I were also there. At the end of our meal I grabbed 2 cookies, one for me and one for my son. It was a treat for him eating up so well and we were leaving the restaurant. All of a sudden a lady screamed "MAAM, EXCYSE ME!". I immediately turned around thinking I must have dropped something! There was a female manager who screamed "THOSE ARE ONE PER PERSON!" I said, "oh, yeah, there's a family of 5 here and I have two cookies. I then turned to walk out the door and she SCREAMED "YOU CAN NOT TAKE THOSE WITH YOU! IF I LET YOU DO IT THEN I HAVE TO KET EVERYONE DO IT!" I was SHOCKED. Like, it's two cookies, one for a 3 year old and one for me - a pregnant lady. I looked around for a second shocked, and EVERYONE near the back door was STARING. I said, "Ok. I can finish them right here, no problem." For my tastes, the food is still mediocre. I don't expect much from places like this, but occasionally I like to go. I usually have the baked chicken, but this time it appeared to be steam cooked, having soft pale skin. It tasted okay, but I do like a bit of crispy skin. I always stay away from the meat station. The ribs looked over-cooked. The area around the griddle was dirty. The only choice for fried chicken was breast. No wings, legs or thighs. Utensils were dirty. The plates/bowls, being plastic, are getting scratched; look worn out. It's always necessary to inspect them first. It took a good five minutes before I could get a soup spoon. Too many tables were not cleared in a timely manner. The floor was filthy everywhere. I didn't dare venture into the bathroom. Liquid items like the gravies had a skin on them. I don't plan on going back. If I happen to win a certificate from doing their survey, maybe I'll try the other location, but both are around twenty miles from home, and it's not really worth the trip. Now I'm thinking it was slightly better quality back when it was Old Country. The menu is pretty much identical. As per my review from seven years ago, it is better than McD's, and better than TV dinners, so I can see why some people think the food is quite good here. I love it here at the Golden Corral it's always a nice place to go eat after we're done visiting the mall of America because there food prices are so expensive but here at the golden corral the food is at a good price. The food is pretty good here, not the best. One thing I would really like people to be aware of is that I saw a few health code violations that worried me. As I was walking out of the bathroom past the soup I was sprayed a little by some glass cleaner by a worker there. She went, "oops, sorry." But she was spraying RIGHT next to the food and also did that everywhere on all the glass around the food. There was another time where a lady was taking out all of the condiments for the ice cream and I peaked around the corner seeing that they were storing sprinkles in a large plastic container without a lid or any type of cover on it. One last experience was with the same lady that was just cleaning the condiment area, she did not put any gloves or wash her hands before helping my daughter and I grab some ice cream that was behind the counter. When we sat down to eat this time, the restaurant staff only spoke to us once, asking if we needed any help, and then they were busy for the rest of our visit. It's hard to say whether I would recommend it or not. If you're bringing your daughter and are concerned about her being picky with food, this buffet can satisfy a girl's needs. I'm not sure why this place has a low rating. It's not fine dining. It's a buffet. Get a grip! I was pretty excited coming here because of my childhood dining experiences with OCB. GC has a slightly different atmosphere than OCB, but it's got everything and then some. Service was good. Drinks were filled and refilled promptly. The thing about buffets is you get to choose what to eat and if something is in low supply, you can ask for more to be made. If you can't find something palatable, it's your own fault. It's not like they serve mystery meat. Quit being so finicky! Items were stocked and replenished. I found the bacon to be well-made. I thought it'd be soggy and bleh, but it was crisp and so good! I love the rolls. Get the rolls! Also, the dessert bar put a little bounce in my step as it had gummy bears! I might've snagged a handful to go. The only issue I had was with the salad bar. I went there on a Thursday to check the place out and take a look at their "party room" that they make a big deal about reserving. I reserved it for 1:30 pm on Sunday, for a birthday party for my father, and watched it get written in on the scheduling calendar. When our party of about 18 people arrived, the party room was full of a church group who, we were told, had "reserved" it for 1 pm, but no one in the place knew who had reserved it, and it wasn't on the schedule. We all had to sit in the dining room for 20 min, waiting for the group to leave, then we went in. The food was mediocre to poor. the place was packed wall to wall for 3 hours, and food was spilled all over the floor around the buffet serving areas. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Had he nicest day today for dinner, got there around 3:30, sat down and the nicest bus person greeted us, his name was Greg and he was so nice friendly and polite even when I teased him about being so handsome (he was) he was prompt to clean away the dishes and asking if we needed anything, like drink refills, he raised my spirits as I have been depressed and down due to illness in my family and his polite and charming ways lifted my spirits, wish all restaurants had wait people like him, by the way, the food was very good, too. Decent salad bar with typical mayo based salad and vegetables. Didn't try the soups but they looked decent. Surprisingly the best item was the grilled sirloin steak that had a good flavor and better quality than expected for the $10 buffet cost (which included the drink) Overall decent but not great food but not expecting incredible food for a $10 buffet. If I go back I will stick to the basics ( steak, salad, baked potato). I will say that the desserts are decent also. Guessing they are pre made institutional items but still pretty good. Overall the staff seemed friendly and hard working. Overall I would equate Golden Corral to being "the Walmart" of food buffets. Finally!! Golden Corral has finally made it to the twin cities. I love buffets and I was sad to see the Old Country Buffet lineup disappear from the twin cities. However, Golden Corral will sure win those customers back! I've had Golden Corral in the past in California and would wait a long time to eat here. Buffet is well presented with plenty of desserts like chocolate fountain, cotton candy and ice cream and much more. They have a big variety so there's lots of stuff to like. I love fried chicken, mashed potatoes, carrot cake, etc... Yum yum. I love variety and buffets give me variety. It's priced competitively, not too expensive. Good service and food. It's buffet so don't expect too much! It's crazy busy here so prepare to wait! This is just one of the many locations they plan on opening around the Twin Cities and I couldn't be more happier. My husband and I were enjoying our meal. We went to grab seconds and as soon as we got back to our seats there was a large party of 15 people were connecting tables together. One of the server came to my husband and I and told us to move to a new table because there is a large group sitting to our table. That there are tables around us to move to. The server said she will even help us move our stuff over to a new table. Unless we are wanting to sit with the group. We said no and she said to move. She even said that the manager isn't available at the moment and that the place was busy.. So we moved. And group immediately took the table and connected it with the other three tables they already connected. At our new table another server came by and said that the only reason the server moved us was because the server knew the group and its something she cannot do. She offered to have a manager speak to us. My husband then spoke with the manager and the manager asked my husband what he would like the manager to do. The manager also said he was too afraid to get jumped by the group after work so he will not confront the group. He offered our money back or two free meals. My husband objected. It is truly amazing that a manager of a Golden Corral is afraid to speak up because he is afraid to get jumped by the customers. That because his server knows the group, he would rather let the group put four tables together and kick out another party because they needed the table. Wow. I'm am truly amazed. Is this how Golden Corral is run now? Is this their new mission statement? Managers letting their servers make decision and not speak up. Of course another server did come and take the tables apart because covid! And the group was not happy. The food was good but I rather not go there again.
