I'll admit sushi here is fire, other then that wasn't worth the $30+ per person on a Saturday night @8pm. Had to quite literally get up to refill my cup inside there stations cause no one walked by us, if the food looks old, it's 100% is old. The grill food is great, but when I ask for spicy, I was also expecting my waiter to ask for a refill considering only one other person was sitting next to me. I hadn't been here for several years and I was afraid it might not live up to my memory of how good it. It DID ;) All the food was fresh and delicious. A few items could have been a little warmer, but not enough to complain about. The food was just as good as I remembered. They do not have the chocolate fountain any more, but that is ok. I was happy with everything. Service was great, the restaurant was immaculate. Price was reasonable. And I was able to easily get in and out with my mobility scooter. (A big deal for me.) Don't bother with your time or money. I have never seen such a sad buffet in my life. I've seen small 5-dish buffets that had more charisma and flavor than this place. The food was "meh" at best. The fried foods were basic. The chicken wings (which more like chicken drummies than wings) were cooked through but you could tell they had been sitting in the tray for a bit. The egg rolls were bland tasting, no real difference between the cabbage and meat (if there was meat) and the cheese wontons were probably the only bright spot in the mix, Of the entrees: The pepper chicken was tasty, the chicken broccoli was cold and the teriyaki chicken wasn't teriyaki at all. I'm still not sure what it was. From what my dining friend said, they have definitely gone downhill. All the LED lights, Chinese decorations, crystal chandeliers and koi fish couldn't save this place. The best thing for this place would be is to consolidate and focus on take-out. read more

We used to go to Teppanyaki at this location regularly pre-pandemic and this was our first time back. We'll never return. Unless you enjoy explosive diarrhea with simultaneous violent vomiting, intense intestinal pain, chills and sweats, I recommend you avoid it as well. It was Saturday evening so we were charged the full $18.99 per person. The sushi bar was not open, however, so there was no sushi available. The ice cream bar only had two types of cookies and single serving sealed ice cream containers (think the kind served in hospitals and nursing homes) in maybe three flavors, which had a sign warning that there would be an extra charge of $1.50 each to take your ice cream with you to go. Gone were the cherries, sprinkles, nuts, broken cookie pieces, broken candy bar pieces, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce and other treats that this ice cream buffet used to be stocked with. I went to the men's room and the entire floor was wet and felt as slippery as if it had soap in the water. The bathroom stall for the disabled had a large piece of human fecal matter on the seat and on the floor, along with a lot of waded up toilet paper and paper towels on the floor and walls. After waiting a long time for the other stall, I finally had my turn in there and found numerous wads of toilet paper and paper towels strewn across the very wet floor, a broken toilet seat and the toilet paper holder positioned so that I had to bend almost to the floor to pull any out. Unfortunately the toilet paper was so thin and narrow that I had to keep bending down and using more and more. The toilet then failed to flush completely, so I had to keep waiting for it to refill and flush again. On our way out we stopped to look at the goldfish pond. Their water was cloudy and smelled bad, which signals unhealthy water parameters and made me wonder how many dead fish they must have to fish out of the pond at opening each morning. The backdrop and stones were caked in unwashed, dried out algae which was flaking off, along with some paint apparently. I felt horrible for them living in these conditions. I woke up that night and had the most violent, painful simultaneous diarrhea and vomiting of my life. I was sweating, clammy and overheated at the same time and it wouldn't stop, my partner considered calling the hospital as the mass exodus of everything in my intestinal system had us both panicked. We will never go back to this, to our once favorite eating spot, and I recommend that you save yourselves as well. My partner didn't have the same seafood as I did and didn't get sick, so we're thankful for that but he was disappointed in the quality / taste of the food he had. read more

Overall food and service was okay. I would however be cautious of the hostess, I believe the name was Ruby. She approached my daughter (5) asking way too personal and inappropriate questions, such as are "you a daddy girl?" "Do you have a boyfriend" we kind of pushed it off and then Ruby proceeded to then touch my son's hair. My husband asked her to not touch our son's hair, she then got offended and started to tell us not to take it offensive and argued, proceeded cussing and being disrespectful. So i have seen several billboards advertising this buffet. After awhile i looked it up and no one had anything horrible to say and some even had some great things to say. I made the decision to try it last night with my boyfriend. First impressions? The location isnt in a calm suburb and stores around are okay. There is Aldi and Family Dollar plus a few other businesses. The sign for this buffet is huge. From the outside it doesnt look like an average Asian Buffet but it doesnt look spectacular either. Now when i stepped inside i was actually impressed. The place looks very clean and well spaced out. Theres a lot to choose from on food. Very nice inside. It took awhile before we were seated which was disappointing because we can visually see several vacant seats. I think the hottess took her time yo seat us. At first we stood behind a few people but no one greeted us. The desk where money is taken there were people but they didnt sat anything to us. Customer service wasnt looking good at this point. After being seated the service was good. Our drinks were always filled and our empty plates didny sit for long. It made up for the uncertain moments when entering the buffet. Price wise this place isnt bad.$11.99 for dinner but it does not include drinks. That is an extra $2. But even with that its reasonably priced. Now for the important part.... The food. It was.... Average. Nothing had an exquisite taste. You do though have a huge variety to choose from but taste wise it wasnt something you cant get from any other asian buffet. I can say i was happy that seafood was always piled high and me loving crawfish loved that. The ice cream section was nice and liked that. You cab scoop your choice of ice cream then theres several toppings to choose from. My final thoughts... It was okay. ZERO stars for service. First timers here craving AYCE unauthentic Asian buffet food who hail all the way from Eagan. Upon arrival on a Monday night, it wasn't busy, so we were greeted & seated immediately which was nice. I was impressed by the cleanliness of this buffet, as Asian buffets usually are grotesque; the food was actually fairly fresh & empty trays were promptly filled too. We wanted hibachi & there were two diners waiting ahead of me. The one chef (who had more than enough space for more than one plate on the grill), was too focused on his conversation with the two diners ahead of me. Myself & another diner behind me had probably returned four times each in a span of 20 minutes with our food still not ready. Our server, did a fairly good job of paying attention to our trash plates & beverage levels; neither of us had cash on us (cause let's be real, not a lot of people carry cash on them anymore & I won't apologize for me not having any on hand). Usually I'll just add the tip on the receipt as most places have available. Finishing up, three Chinese female servers spent their shift a foot from us on their phones & gossiping in Mandarin or Cantonese, hovering if you will. I thanked her & apologized for not having cash & as we walked out she said aloud in broken English 'of course.' Well lady listen up, even if I did have the cash, walking around with your RBF (that's resting $&@?% face) all night & hovering around my table while I eat, you wouldn't have gotten a tip anyway I'll tell you that; & neither would Teppanyaki's hibachi chefs. Chinese buffet bussers (I say busser because diners are basically serving themselves) are always hovering, stereotypical, but true. First rule of the service industry, NEVER hover & expect tips. I'm sure she is more than capable of being something other than a minimum wage buffet busser. If they're always upset at what little they make every two weeks on that pay stub or at the end of every shift, I guarantee they have the ability to hop on Indeed & find a higher paying job. & please do respond to this review Teppanyaki owners, cause there is no reasonable excuse for your employees to behave the way they do; your food can be sub par, but for a lot of people, service will make it or break it for potential returning customers. This was my first visit since the place reopened as Sumo. The space was enjoyable and the variety quite something for a mid-week lunch buffet. However, I won't be back. Absolutely everything I tried was salty as could be. I do not salt my food at home, but enjoy it when I eat out. It's almost a treat. But Sumo overdoes it big time. For just me and my girlfriend it was 35$ I understand it was busy and all but the service was horrible! We didn't feel welcome at all.. the server didn't ask what drinks we wanted and just brought us whatever, and we never got a refill. We've been going to this place all the time and give tips when we have cash but this is the second time we were harassed by the workers there. They stopped us while we were walking out and demand for tip. So both time we were harassed, it seems to be those ladies on the left side when walked in. We were fine when we were seated on the right side. I mean even when you pay at the front they make it seems like tip is a required thing and be like "tip is not included" when you pay but expect you to pay and leave it for them at your table. A friend bought me lunch here last week. The $11.95 lunch price includes a Mongolian grill and drinks. I ordered coffee, but it was the instant kind that didn't taste good. This is one of the best Chinese buffets in the twin cities. Service is always prompt and excellent. Food is fresh and delicious most of the time. The varieties and options available are 2nd to none. The other people who gave this place bad reviews either are too picky or don't know what they're talking about. Obviously if u go during a busy time, ie. lunch on a Sunday, then yes service and wait times will be slower. I suggest u plan ahead and go at a time when it's not so busy. The best time is m-f 11-12pm. For the people who said it's not "authentic" enough for them, boo hoo. Go to China if u want the "authentic" cuisine. This is in Minnesota so I figure u can't expect the best of best. The only knock on this place is the reception sucks for cell phones and they're is no wi fi available that I know of. Wife and I came in on a Monday night... nothing was good. We love the occasional buffet, but this one was so underwhelming it almost makes me sad. The hibachi portion was a joke, it took 15 minutes for my food to be burned. While I waiting I pursued the other lines to find nothing but left out sticky chicken from who knows when... Crab Rangoon's are my absolute favorite and every those we're underwhelming. You cannot charge almost $40 dollars for two people for this quality of food. I won't be back... ever. We gave this place a try on a whim and have been delightfully impressed every time we have arrived. They have a great sushi assortment at all hours, they have a large selection of dishes and you can get sat instantly without a wait. We discovered a few quirks while dining though...they have a ice cream flavor that is unrecognizable every time...that is because as the staff explained, they take all the ice cream flavors that are left and combine them into one tub. Its a little interesting. While the area seems a little questionable we have never had any problems (other than some homeless people hooting and hollering upon departure). Gooooood! TONS of variety!. This place has it all: Ribs, sushi, hibatchi, salad bar, shrimp, chicken, ice cream, and soooo much more! Everything was kept full, hot, and fresh. I especially liked the roast chicken, sesame chicken, and hibatchi rice. The stuff here seems to be pretty good quality. Even the ice cream is Blue Bunny and not the crap that squirts out of a machine. I can't wait to go back...so, let's go! :) One thing that is a little interesting: the staff don't seem to speak a lot of English. Keep this in mind and try to be patient. The food wasn't bad, and everything was going fine right up until the end. My group was yelled at and stopped by our server demanding we leave a tip on the table. She would not allow us to leave until we gave her a tip. My boyfriends dad pulled out his wallet to look for any kind of cash, and she was looking in his wallet the entire time practically going through it for him looking for money. After we handed her what little cash we had, she berated us and yelled at us as we left the restaurant. I will not be coming back to this restaurant. The service was horrible, she refilled maybe 3 of our drinks the entire time we were there. Tipping should never an obligation, but this restaurant made it a requirement. What can possibly be said about a Chinese buffet that hasn't been said before? Not much but I will just attempt to explain why I would give this establishment 4 stars (would have been 5 if not for recent changes in pricing). I know that might seem a little high for a buffet but nevertheless, Teppanyaki does happen to be my favorite one in the cities. The number one thing to remember is that you are indeed dining at a buffet so if your expectations are high, that would be your first mistake. I absolutely LOVE Chinese food, it might be my actual favorite and even though I enjoy going to "real" sit-down, order-one-plate type of Chinese restaurants, buffets are always going to be my forte because I love being able to choose from a variety of dishes. As much as I love it, I understand that the service might not be 100% (and it's not here) and it might not be the best tasting food around. It might not be the fanciest looking spot - but if I wanted all of that I'd go to Spoon & Stable instead. I am willing to let those things go and therefore my experience might be a lot more enjoyable. You pretty much can't be a snob when it comes to places like this. Teppanyaki is the best buffet in the cities. I've visited multiple different spots, both small and bigger in size, and none of them compare to this one. It has the best selection of foods by far including some of my favorites like Beef & Broccoli, fried garlic green beans, butter potatoes, and noodles. And many buffets, surprisingly, don't have a lot of these items or they change their selection around too much which I've never had a problem with here so I keep coming back. It's always busy, which is actually really great! It's not like you'll have to wait for a table but you know that the food will be fresh and steaming hot as they have to keep making more constantly. Nothing is every dry, the flavor of the food is definitely much better than at other buffets I've tried and even their sushi bar is decent. Again, you can't expect a high quality sushi but they have a large variety and if you're craving a California Roll, it will do the job. Service would get 3 stars from me as they are strangely pushy for you to tip them to the point where they'll watch you and make sure you're not getting up unless you tipped. As if you didn't know from the million and one signs and stickers that say in shouty capitals: "Tip Not Included". So I just tip at the register now; you pay first and get it out of the way. The prices went up recently, I believe it's $15.99 for dinner and around $10.99 or so for lunch. Not the worst but it was much better before and hence I had bring the rating down to 4 from a would be 5. The food is just that good. One of my favorite things about this place is hands down their Hibachi Grill. If you're paranoid about what's in your food, this is the way to go for you. Fresh ingredients that you get to choose yourself and pretty much create your own stir fry. Grab a plate, pile it up as high as you like with veggies, fresh eggs, protein, and seasonings and just hand it over to the grill "master" who will cook it up right in front of your eyes.
