After years of great food and relationship with the manager my family had the worst experience during a recent lunch service. When we arrived around 1pm the restaurant had a table of two and a table of 7 that left minutes after our arrival. After being seated we waited almost 10mins before our server even showed up to our table. After bringing our table of 5 water the waitress was gone and didn't return for another 10mins. At this point we asked to be moved to a larger table since we planned on ordering a substantial amount of food and they had no problem to accommodate our request. Another 15mins went by and still no sign of our waitress to take an appetizer order. At this time a table of two was seated and attended to immediately. Needless to say we decided to leave. Upon leaving we called the manager to inform him of the situation and he was very adamant that we come back and he would ensure we were attended to. Silly us we took his word due to our long standing relationship. Upon arriving for the second time we again sat down and waited yet another 15mins waiting for service. Finally the waitress came over to inform us that she would not be serving us and another waitress would be taking care of us. Turns out our new waitress spent 10mins clearing a table banging dishes around directly behind our table before coming to our table. When she arrived we simply asked if attending to the clean up of a table was priority over attending to ordering customers. The lady proceeded to say she didn't like our attitude and stormed off while complaining and saying things under her breath. So once again we decided to leave. As we were leaving the waitress decided to call one of our family a bitch in front of our minor child. The manager now called us again and we made him very aware of the terrible experience. The manager proceeded to now defend the employee of 12 years...Long story short, we finally made it to Hunans on Bay Rd where the service was absolutely exceptional. read more

A good restaurant to take family, large groups, and special occasions. There is ambient lighting, plenty of parking, and even catch live piano playing. Overall super friendly service. If you order from their lunch menu you can get a soup with Fried wontons, as well as an egg roll or crab ragoon. Their menu overall lunch or dinner is very robust. I typically order the beef noodle soup (spicy!). Its got a sweet tomato / rock sugar taste but still very good. Super generous portions of beef. Also lots of cilantro. I wish to add a little more greens but no problem. They're scallion pancake is precut for you. My husband likes their almond chicken. Overall not a bad spot! read more

In Saginaw, it could be considered a fine dining restaurant. A larger restaurant with parking. The restaurant has segmented areas whether you'd require a space for an intimate gathering or choose to be in general seating. Gen seating includes live entertainment on weekends. On their busier nights they can be one of the most lively destinations in the area. What can make meals here interesting is the weekend vibe which is unexpected. Their regulars are dressed to impress and at times a level which is unheard of. Perhaps this is due to their having evening entertainment which is represented by classy pianist and or singing accompanying. So I assume patrons are dressing for the occasion. If you've had authentic Chinese food in any major cities, keep your expectations low. Foods are different and sugar is detected in a number of entrees. I found most entrees bland and wasn't much intrigued. Service expectations are small town different. One weekend evening; it dragged longer than necessary and this due to our waiter not having sensible backup. Felt as if all orders: cutlery, foods, refills and more had to be served by our waiter and there wasn't much support when she was overwhelmed. They utilize some of the older restaurant concepts in dining. A table side presentation when certain entrees are served. It feels like the 90's never left Saginaw tbh. Start off with a pu pu platter (appetizer tray), try the soup and go from there. **I feel as though they may carry a Chinese Korean menu. If you find out, let me know! we have ordered from here several times. So I suggested this place for our family Christmas Eve dinner. We placed the $350 order three days in advance. My husband went to pick it up at the time scheduled and it wasn't ready. He ended up waiting an hour on Christmas Eve with a house full of people waiting to eat. I called and spoke with the assistant manager which is who they directed me to. She never called me Two weeks later I called and finally caught up with her, and she was very defensive as if it was my fault. Apparently it was my fault for suggesting to order food from them. she just started out with several and how busy they were and how many orders they had again if it was my fault I said well that was the reason of placing the order in advance. We knew you'd be busy and thought OK this is already paid been ready ahead of anyone else that called in later that day or just showed up my husband said it sounds as though they misplaced the order but of course no one ever said that and the manager never once apologized or understood our frustration. This place has been in the same spot for 30-40 years and is old school Chinese/American cuisine. Ambience is retro but it is clean and has real tablecloths and grand piano in the center. ( I wonder if anyone actually plays it as that would be cool!) Service is great every time and the Rock salt shrimp is my favorite food on the menu! I wish I lived close so I could go more often! This place is a Saginaw old school favorite! They are usually busy both at lunch and dinner and I see why. read more

Been here a ton and I must say it's great personally. The food is though not spectacular is good and delicious never had a bad experience other than I ordered a princess chicken extra spicy but it wasn't spicy. The service is good it's your basic "oh she didn't give me lemons" or "man she is fast" it's hit or miss but nothing to cry about. They're nice and simple and it's just what I like. Plus most of them are kinda beautiful wink wink. The place is pretty nice it has calm and relaxing feel it's not loud like other places. Sometimes during dinner they play the piano they have a good soothing music a great way to feel good when eating. Overall, terrific place possibly the best part is the owner too. He's funny and nice and sometimes gives out free cookies. Would recommend specifically lunch time. read more

Within an hour of eating here we were struck with a massive case of food poisoning. This place has gone down hill. Vomiting-diarrhea-fever-convulsions-body aches. The food was crappy-they now use cheap canned mushrooms . Thinking it was the not fresh, room temperature egg rolls. The owner needs to get a clue!!! read more

Most consistent Chinese in town, only competition would be the lady inside Admiral @ Spucky's but she's got a super limited menu! Owner typically greets you and is always so happy to have you! Weekends they have a piano player and if you're lucky the gentleman will be there and will play the, "Peanut" theme for you on request! Totally recommend either casual or formal! read more

This was my first time visiting here but definitely not the last! Came out for a birthday dinner and we ordered the meal for three. The meal could have fed six! We started with the pu-pu platter. The shrimp toast was my favorite item on it, also the crab cheese was good. They allowed us to switch out one of the entrees for another, for only the difference in cost, so we were able to get the crispy fish that the birthday girl wanted. It was delicious, and I loved the sauce. The rock salt shrimp was another favorite. The service was great, speedy and attentive. We had enough left over for lunches the next day. I can't wait to come back, but it will be hard to try new things from the menu (which is huge!) when what we had this time was good enough to eat again and again! read more

This used to be one of my favorite spots, I would order from here at least once a week. Today I went in hopes of a great meal and was let down my beef was tough rice was cold and I literally ordered my food five minutes away. The cost has gone up and the portion size is the same. Literally half of my order was wrong I was so disappointed I didn't even call about it I just gave it away. Delicious food! Had the beef n broccoli. Great flavor of sauce and tender beef and broccoli. My favorite are the potstickers. Hand made in house. Someone posted that they would drive 200 miles to have dinner here. Now I know why. We came in late on Sunday but MANAGER went back and cooked us a carryout for the hotel. We use to love this restaurant, but NOT anymore. They use to serve a gluten-free fried rice and I ordered it today. However, it was not marked as gluten-free, so I would eat the right rice. This cashier said they don't do gluten-free anymore. She Refused to give me a refund or cancel the transaction. After going back and forth, she finally relented, and went back to have the cook make it gluten-free. I pray that it is and that they didn't spit in it. I have hardly ever written a bad review, so I don't take it lightly. My husband's egg roll and soup were a disappointment with no flavor and very greasy. We asked for vegetable fried rice and there were no vegetables in sight. The fried rice had no flavor. His Princess Chicken had almost no sauce. My son said he didn't want us to bring him anything from there because he was very disappointed the last time he went. I am so sad that we lost one of our favorite restaurants. read more

I've been a customer here for decades. I don't know if I can return. Something has changed at this place. The food tastes awful, the meat is tough and poorly trimmed. It's the third time I've noticed how bad the food is, so it's not just a bad day in the kitchen. Whatever changed, change it back. I can't pay to eat food like I had today. read more
