New China was our preferred place in Saginaw but it has gotten worse and worse each time. Yes, the food is always ready quickly, but it's no longer good so timeliness isn't worth much. We ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork, Fried Rice, and Lo Mein Noodles. The rice was good. Half of the Sweet and Sour Pork was just a crisp shell - no meat inside at all. The other half had meat, but the thickest breading so it was nearly a 50/50 ratio. The noodles were so over cooked that they were mushy. There was no twirling around your fork or scooping up a big bite that slaps you in the chin as you try to eat it; as soon as you stuck a fork in, it was tiny, chewy pieces. Not sure how this place has some 5 star ratings. Egg rolls were bad. Like pretty much all cabbage and had a bad oil taste to them. Dumplings were way too doughy. if you're looking for ambience, this isn't the place but if you're looking for great food, don't make a mistake by passing this place up. Everything we've ever had here has been really good. The crab cheese/crab Rangoon is the best I've ever eaten and I've eaten it all over the world! It is the very best ever! I don't understand the low rating some people give. What are they expecting? Food is okay. Not great, not awful. We were the only people eating there and they made a mistake on our order and then forgot to bring our rice. We ordered combination dinners. I know this because our waitress (who I think was the owner) asked if I wanted the combo. It was an entree, soup, 2 crab cheese and rice. When the bill came it was not all one price. The entree was one price and then there was a separate price for the other items. That is not a combo. The total of the dinner was close to $12. In this area for a combination dinner at an average Chinese restaurant you're going to spend $8-10. I think their pricing is misleading and too much. The service is really not even service. I realize now why we were the only ones there. Learned my lesson. Want to warn others. Won't return obviously. read more

The restaurant is a little pushed back off the main road, and looks very plain from the front but the food is great! There is plenty of seating but it seemed like everyone was getting take-out. We were told that our order would be ready in 30 minutes, and it turned out being another 45 minute wait after we got there at the 30 minute mark but we were very pleased with our take out and weren't in a hurry so we didn't mind the wait. They may have been abnormally busy, the phone was ringing off the hook the whole time we were there and orders lined the window. Now about the food: The beef and broccoli is now my husband's favorite in the area and had more meat than vegetables. The crab rangoons are the best I have found in Saginaw as well. Although the service was slow, the waitress in the front of the house (despite her frazzledness and another patron yelling about her food not being available the second she walked in) was quite pleasant. We also got some crab rangoons on the house for our wait, which we appreciated. We'll definitely be regulars! read more

I've been told the food here used to be great but after the mother (I think) left it wasn't as good. I still think it's pretty good right now. From the front you'd probably drive right by but stop in, give it a try. Food is pretty good and portion size isn't bad. Prices are fairly low. I'd like to give a 3.5 but can't. Have been ordering take out once a week for about 4 weeks now; most entrees are ok, a few are good but don't order the chicken on the stick as they burn the hell out of them and then try to tell you that it isn't really burned. This has been my staple restaurant for about 15 years, ownership has changed a few times, but was consistently great. Went here for lunch a few weeks ago with my daughter, food was terrible, we got our tea after our food, and several requests. Soup was awesome! The rest of the meal was inedible. No flavor, squishy vegetables. We boxed it up and dropped it off to some college boys. I braved it again today, and got takeout. Soup great!! Entree terrible. Our usual Chinese place was closed so we tried New China. Ended up ordering Lemon Chicken. By the time we got home discovered mine was Almond Chicken. Ate it anyways, but the chicken was extremely dry. Coating on it was also very hard. Tasted almost like rough chicken nuggets. Not as fresh as other restaurant, will not be a return customer. This place is great and despite how it looks on the outside! New China is one of the best Chinese food places in mid-Michigan I love all the food here very flavorful with authentic flavors. I always come here at least once a week I usually stick to the beef lomein with mushrooms very spicy or the jalapeño chicken which is so so good! The crab cheese are also so good I have tried a lot of the appetizers and entrees here and never had anything bad or bland the owner is very friendly and is always willing to alter the menu based on your taste preference. So give this place a shot and you might love it like I do! read more

I have been here a total of three times for takeout. Although the food was good, the service is terrible. The first time I ordered, they got it right. The next TWO times I ordered, they got one of the meals wrong each time. When I called to let them know of THEIR error, the owner (the lady) argued with me and wouldn't let me speak. She continued to talk over me giving me excuses why they got it wrong. I will never (ever) go back to this place. read more
