Overall good. We ordered takeout and ordered the shrimp fried rice, orange chicken, mongolian chicken and fried shrimp. I appreciated the patience with my questions as this was my first time ordering. My husband liked it and only prefers places that don't use egg in their rice (Chan's does not) so he's planning a repeat visit. I wasn't thrilled with the Mongolian chicken but I think I will try again and explore other dishes before fully saying no to future visits. read more

I had a big order. I explained to the person on the phone that it was the first time ever ordering from there and to please bear with me. I started to order and he asked a few questions which was great. But when I asked if the fried wontons had crab in them he said "no". I said good cause we were allergic. I placed an order for 9 combo meals and 2 orders of fried wonton. I was disappointed when one meal came in cups instead of the tray like the other they cost the same. And my two orders of fried wonton was crab. And we were also missing a whole combo. No one liked their meals. And we couldn't eat the wontons read more

Only reason Im giving a 2 star is the service is very friendly besides the service I was very displeased with the food. We ordered the Almond Boneless Chicken, although this was not the dish that was expected like from other Chinese takeout, it was just tiny splinters of chicken in a slop of vegetables with sauce while smothered in almonds (which seemed to be the star of the dish). The rice was not the norm fried rice youd expect, it was more a chicken flavored, corn, lima bean country rice. There was no egg rolls with our dinners. We did get crab ragoons and while they were the most decent thing i ate, even that was not on point. We looked past the way it looked and tried the food but after we had to order out somewhere else bc we were not heading back out there. I really wanted to like this place bc its the only chinese in the area but I just cant :/ read more

I got the Mongolian beef and while it may have been the lower quality cut that's typical for cheaper Chinese restaurants, it was prepared far better than usual with no game flavor at all, and still tender. The flavor of the sauce was perfect with just the right amount of spice. The hot sour soup was also quite good. All of this would be fine but they also had very courteous service, and got me my food very quickly. To sweeten the pot even more it was a very low priced meal. Didn't even top 10 dollars. read more

Went in there Saturday and the young girl was standing at a booth filling solo cups with sweet and sour sauce. She kept going from pouring sauce to answering the phone then went to the cash register and then back to the sauce. Do you see anything wrong with that? Cross contamination. My sister came to me and whispered into my ear, look at the floor under that booth. Well we hadnt ordered yet so I looked at her and we both walked out. One more thing, we asked the employee if they had shrimp egg rolls, she said they changed them every day, we looked puzzled and she said the cook throws anything they have laying around and puts that in the egg roll filling?? I went here on recommendation from some co-workers who absolutely love it and I've always heard good things about it and they deliver. I ordered the garlic chicken. we also ordered the crab rangoons which were pure cream cheese and not even one Speck of crab but that's pretty much the only downfall that I could find at this place, that they didn't have any crab in the crab ragoons. I sampled the chicken noodles which was one of the best I ever had.! I sampled my cousins general chicken and broccoli chicken which was good and I liked it better than My Plate. My Plate was good though and also the egg drop soup what more can you ask for then delicious and affordable. I definitely will be going back. I want to give 5 stars but just gave four stars because there was no crab in the crab rangoons and also they didn't give us any fortune cookies read more

Not impressed whatsoever. The orange chicken was good and actually tasted like chicken. The problem was the portion size. I received about 8 pieces of chicken and about an ice cream size scoop of rice. The rice was bland and the crab cheese tasted like nothing but off brand cream cheese. I went here because I was craving some egg drop soup, which was also incredibly underwhelming...tasted more of corn starch than egg. read more

Chan's is my go-to restaurant for Asian in Bay City. It's delicious, inexpensive and fast! Chan's delivers too. I love the veggie dishes and the veggie rice noodles can't be beat. I've customized dishes and the outcome has been glorious. Put some curry on it, sub tofu for meat, get some homemade hot chili oil, and get extra broccoli. Chan's is pleased to do custom orders, it even says so on the menu. The owner is extremely sweet and hard working. Best Chinese in Bay City - my coworkers get it all the time too. I really love that it is vegetarian-friendly. They are always busy with carry-out and delivery but it's nice to dine in as well, the restaurant is a converted car repair garage and has a giant fish tank that is really nice. I got the kung pao chicken, white rice, egg roll, and hot n sour soup. Ok, so this is my staple order for any Chinese place I come across in my travels. I have a pretty acute outlook on what I like and what I don't like about these dishes from certain places. This place is no different, but they did do some things very well. First off, THANK YOU! Thank you for actually knowing what the word spicy is. When I order my Kung Pao to come spicy, usually I get something that has flavor...but not kick. I want kick. This place delivered what I was looking for. I could've done without the lumps and lumps of veggies and all that come in the mix, but I realize that is what this dish is all about. Secondly, ya'll absolutely nailed the hot n sour soup. The key to this is the black pepper. It was also absurdly hot when it arrive. This is exactly what I want. I hate it when places bring mildly warm soup. That is just insanity. Anyways, there have always got to be bad things about places that don't get five stars. The egg roll was far and away the worse thing I ate. I am an egg roll killer and I couldn't even eat half of it. The cuts of cabbage and all in the middle were way too big and it just wasn't good. Sizzling rice soup was mediocre at best and general tso chicken is deep fried frozen chicken with some microwave frozen broccoli on it and sauce that tastes like the most sugary teriyaki sauce you can imagine w some crushed red pepper thrown in.
