    Panda combo so tasty
    Jm P.

Ok so I loved this place, my parents would take me and my sisters here after church on Sunday's and to me it was THE chinese food that I would compare to all other chinese food. We always ordered mongolian beef, panda combo crispy noodles and sweet and sour pork (it was my favorite). Well I came here with my sisters (whenever I'm in kitsap I always try to visit here since they are not in tacoma) and we ordered like usual and poured our tea like usual and they started bringing out our food and I asked for chopsticks (cuz I wanna feel cool and struggle then end up with a arthritic hand). They gave us 3 pairs (wooden ones that you usually have to split) that were not only already split, but I could tell they had been used from the color marks half way up the stick. So that sucked. Then I started eating the sweet and sour pork and it left the worst bitter after taste in my mouth so pretty much fml the apocalypse must be coming cuz this place was the sh*t.

Nicest people ever. Really good food. They will treat you with respect and nicely priced.

I really love their food. They have a great lunch special and the Mongolian BBQ is amazing. I like that you can fix it up yourself and put whatever you want into your bowl. The guy who was going to cook my food for me made sure that I wasn't jipped by telling me to make sure my bowl was over-full. It's really good food

Classic windowless building showing its age. Nice, clean interior. Plentiful seating. Pleasant, attentive, and patient waitperson. Clearly this was also a spot frequented by regulars. We all brought ice waters, hot tea upon request, and started with the soup of the day. We focused on featured lunch combos listed on the menu, which were definitely old school Chinese American. The three selected were: *Sweet & Sour Pork w/Pork Fried Rice *Sweet & Sour Pork, Broccoli Beef w/Pork Fried Rice *Beef Chow Mein, Almond Chicken w/Pork Fried Rice These lunch combos were generous and yes, we all had to ask for takeout containers at the end of our meal. I enjoy their Lunch Special with two choices on you plate alond with excellent fried rice. I enjoyed everything I tried and the oolong tea that comes with your meal makes ot even better. And what Chinese meal would be complete without a fortune cookie. They give you one of those, too. I've sat at both the comfortable booths and the tables. Now that I live on the east side of the pond, Golden Star is where I go for the kind of Chinese food I remember as a kid.

It sounded like a great idea, so we set off to find it. It was cold evening, so when we walked in, we were happy the place was warm. Rows and rows of steam tables, a Mongolian grill, and a dessert area. It looked very interesting, so we grabbed plates and delved into a sea of families piling their plates with good food. As we came back to the table, we started to notice we were quite warm. We peeled off jackets and sat down to dig into our delights. Spring rolls, pot stickers, various prepared chicken dishes, some Mongolian creations all went down easily with great taste. Still, is just me or is it really warm in here? Yes, it is warm, I noticed as sweat trickled down the side of my Wife's face. The steam tables are so great in number that it makes for a slightly swampy warmth. Maybe the heater was on the fritz? No one else was really complaining about it. The food and service was good, for a buffet, and it hit the spot. Walking out into the night air without our jackets on was just heavenly though.

The outside of the restaurant looks a bit shady but once you go inside, you see a welcoming site of an elegant restaurant twith plenty of lighting, tables and chairs. The service was okay, the female employee who helped us felt dismissive while forcing politeness. She came by too quickly when we were browsing their decently sized menu. Eventually, I got their Kung Pao chicken with fried rice and egg flower soup while my boyfriend got their almond chicken with fried rice and egg flower soup. The food was pretty good and generous for what you pay for. The fried rice had a very pale color, which I wasn't used to. It was just meh, as well as the egg roll and cream cheese that came with the food. The egg flower soup, kung pao chicken and almond chicken was delicious.
