    $6 burger & fries wednesdays
    Amber H.

Under new ownership! Free bingo on saturdays, $6 burger and fries on wednesdays!! Staff is friendly and there's tons of space! If you like to play pool this bar is for you! New menu is extensive, definitely worth revisiting if you haven't been here since the ownership change!

    Keto lunch.

This restaurant used to have really good food but was pretty much a dump and didn't appear to be all that clean. But a little while back the relatives of the owner took over and they have done a fantastic job of cleaning the place up and making sure that the food remained really good. In fact, they honestly have made the food even better. There's been a major overhaul of the restaurant in terms of its interior. They're not yet done but it is looking, smelling, and feeling pretty darn good. Seriously, it looks really good even if you didn't compare it to how it used to be. But having that comparison, it is now over the top remarkable. The person who served me over a lunch period was knowledgeable and super friendly. And I often order take out for my staff. They love the food. Most Chinese restaurants that I have ever eated at use so many ingredients that are really bad for you like corn starch, soy sauce, sugar, and a whole host of tasty but nasty things. Stuff that is not good but is just so natural to how they cook in the restaurants. And they do knock it out the park with flavorful cuisines. Since dropping the carbs a few months back, I figured take out Chinese food would be off the table. But Golden Mum has nailed it...They have Keto-friendly dishes! And the Keto food they serve up is tasty! Low carb, gluten free, dairy free, no cornstarch, no soy, no root veggies... ...Just leafy and cruciferous vegetables, meats of your choice or none if you prefer and seasoned so deliciously you can actually taste food not additives and such. Yes, I am a fan of this updated restaurant and the new owners who are sensitive to the very diverse food desires and needs of a diverse community of people. They are still working on the interior but it does not get in my way of patronizing them.

Asain fusion and some great new bar foods too. Great service, great drinks, fun bar atmosphere with trivia and a Dj on Saturday nights. Free pool all day ever day.

Best Chinese in Kitsap county!!! My favorite is the walnut prawns and Golden Mum chow mein. My husband loves the cashew chicken.

Spicy garlic prawns...little bits of golden heaven, and worth a trip all on their own

So, a disclaimer, just to get this out of the way: I've never actually eaten at Golden Mum. I have, however, gotten takeaway from them many times, and while it can be hit and miss and times, they get it mostly right, and there's a few things here that you shouldn't miss. The place itself doesn't stand out, and sort of plunked in the middle of East Bremerton in the middle of a small shopping center, would be easy to miss. But it also happens to be close to my house, and right next door to my favorite pizza place in town, so we gave it a shot when our old favorite Chinese restaurant converted to a Pho place. Inside, Golden Mum is as nondescript as on the outside - clean and nice, but nothing that stands out. So, the food - we've had to experiment a little to find the things we like here, but it's been worth the effort. First, the definite hits. The best thing on the menu is easily the spicy garlic prawns, lightly breaded and incredibly flavorful, with just the right zing. Though these are the most expensive appetizer on the menu, they're not to be missed, and there's enough there that they could be an entree in themselves. The broccoli beef, green beans in black bean sauce, cashew chicken, and honey walnut chicken are all worth trying, and coming back for. It's not been perfect, though - for several months the moo shu pork could not even be ordered, and when we finally did get it they only had tortillas, not the usual thin Chinese pancakes. The orange chicken was too sweet and too gelatinous; the BBQ pork was dry. Pot stickers are good, but the egg rolls are hit and miss - at their best they're big and crunchy and almost a meal in themselves, at their worst they're kind of greasy and full of some strange goo. And if you're ordering spicy, expect inconsistencies in the star rating for spiciness - a one star might have you need a break between bites, while a three-star will have you shrugging and wondering where the zing is. So, Golden Mum isn't perfect, but if you know what to order it's tasty, the service is friendly, the prices reasonable. And, to be honest, experimenting to find the hits on a hit-and-miss menu has been kind of fun, and led to some truly excellent discoveries - the kind of food that keeps us coming back for more.

Their pork fried rice has changed in quality and appearance from the last owners. Hopefully they go back to the old recipe!

I had heard about the fried corn, but couldn't find it on the menu, anywhere. I finally asked, and the cashier said that they have it. It would be awesome if they would put it with the sides on the menu, then. I got the regular size instead of a large, since I've never had anything like it before. It was really good! It had a lot of Cajun seasoning on it. They have one of those fountain pop machines where you can mix whatever flavors of a whole bunch of different kinds of pop. I mixed citrus mello yello with lime mellow yellow. It was a successful experiment. Unfortunately, the wings were really average. They were a little tough and dry, and they weren't really flavorful. The Hawaiian didn't have a lot of sauce on it, and the sauce just wasn't really packed with flavor. The Louisiana rub had more flavor, but it was in the grease that dripped off of the wings. I basically had to dip the wings into the grease on the paper in the basket to get any flavor. I might be willing to give another flavor a try, in the hopes that it was just a fluke that the wings were unimpressive, as long as I can have the corn again.

Good deal as I brought 4 wings home with me. I got the lemon pepper seasoning and it was perfect, not really wet but very crispy and tangy. The fries were actually really good too, thin and crispy, not just an after thought. I get what people say about the blue cheese. It's not a dressing or dip really. Hard to tell what to do with it. Press the blue cheese crumbles against the chicken. With my leftover wings at home I used my own blue cheese dressing to dip. But really the wings are so flavorful on their own, they don't need dip. The bartender was friendly and gave great service. Dark bar atmosphere but clean and as a person alone here in the middle of the afternoon, I was very comfortable sitting at the bar.

The melted cheese and blue cheese sauce made it very wet and hard eat... you had to dig... don't get me wrong it was still good. Just misleading. 2 stars, and I'm being generous…read more I came in with a friend and my toddler around 3:15 on a Saturday afternoon. We left at 4:45. There were maybe three other tables in the entire place. We started with the arancini, advertised as house-made risotto. The breading was too uniform and too thick to be house made by anyone who's actually made arancini. The center wasn't warm. The risotto inside was dry. The marinara was cold. I've had good arancini. This wasn't it. We ordered a medium pizza -- pepperoni and mushroom on half -- and waited. And waited. At some point our server came out to tell us the pizza had to be remade. I had a hungry, increasingly cranky toddler being held together with graham crackers. By the time the pizza finally arrived, he was done. The pizza itself: the pepperoni is listed as Liguria and it did cup, so I'll give it that. But the top of the pizza was swimming in oil -- more than pepperoni alone accounts for -- which suggests the cheese isn't doing any favors. The sauce and crust were genuinely good. I didn't hate the pizza. But the service? I've waited tables. I know how it works. I watch things. When we declined to order alcohol, our server's smile dropped noticeably. After that, he checked on us far less than the other tables -- and there were only three of them. We ran out of water. The manager came by, noticed our empty carafe, and filled it himself. That told me everything. The pizza had barely landed on the table before our server reappeared with his ordering device, Cheshire grin in full effect, check already sliding toward us. I told him I wasn't done yet when he asked about a box. His response? "Just want to make sure you're taken care of." That's a strange thing for an attentive server to say. A good server would have walked away and come back. He hovered. When we were actually ready to leave, there was no one to flag down -- my friend had to go find the server and the owner, who were hanging out together in the back, just to get a box. Two women with a toddler, mid-afternoon, three other tables in the restaurant, and we couldn't get water refilled or basic attention -- but we could get the check shoved at us before I finished eating. The crust and sauce have potential. Everything else needs serious work. One more thing worth noting: Google sits at 4.8 stars while Yelp comes in at 3.8 with a pattern of reviews that either love it or hate it. A full star gap between platforms is a meaningful discrepancy. Google reviews are anonymous and anyone can leave them -- draw your own conclusions. The Yelp split tracks with my experience. Your mileage may vary, but mine did not.
