Allergen warning! One of our two orders of Szechwan beef had delicious juicy shrimp in it. While this is not a problem for us, it would be a major problem for those with shrimp allergies not expecting it! We have ordered multiple times here in person, and on delivery services. The food has been consistently delicious and heat level very mild in all of the "Medium spicy" dishes. Today we ordered a large order from Door Dash. The only things with an edible spice level were the egg rolls and the crab rangoons. The dumplings, Salt and Pepper Shrimp, Mongolian Beef, and Szechwan Beef (2 orders) were SO spicy we were crying, coughing, and sweating. And we LOVE spice! Whatever changed needs to be fixed!! I've been wanting to visit this place for years but decided to wait until they opened Weihai for seating again. Well, I doesn't look like that's going to happen again. They are permanent take out now, bummer. But, I completely understand since they've been doing well with take out only. I tried the chicken Lo Mein and it was great. The portion was large and very tasty. It reminded me of a place I used to eat in Seattle China Town before the pandemic. It looks like I'll be visiting again for take out to try some of their other selections. Chinese food is hard to find, and good Chinese food is almost impossible to find. We decided to get out of Seattle for the day and put this place on the list for lunch. We checked the Yelp page and the business site ahead of time because there is always a curveball these days when we try a new restaurant. Well, the curveball here was the place was takeout only. Since there was nothing else near that looked good, we got takeout, but we made an absolute mess of our clothes and car due to this. The lady was nice and the food was served hot. When she handed me the bag, I thought the order was wrong, because it was far heavier than expected. When we got to the car, we noted that the entrée was generous. Without a doubt twice the size as expected. We had General's Chicken, Potstickers and Hot & Sour Soup. The soup broth was delicious, but there wasn't much in the soup, I'm used to mushroom, bamboo, egg. This had a couple pieces of pork and tofu, so the flavor was good, but it was 95% broth and I'm used to being 60% at best. I really like seaweed and bamboo in my H&S. The Generals Chicken was good, but far sweeter than expected. I expect Orange Chicken to be sweet, but Generals should be spicy. It was still good, but would have been great had it not been sweet and sour in flavor. The Potstickers had a good flavor, but unfortunately were not crisp, probably because of the container they were put in. You could see they were pan fried, but they felt and tasted steamed. So while waiting in the rain for our meal, a couple other locals placed takeout orders, all praising the food. I really wanted to try Mongolian Beef, but after tasting the Generals Chicken, I don't think I'd like it. I like my Chinese food spicy and adding sugar to dishes that are not traditionally sweet is a no no in my book, but I know Teriyaki Nation is used to sweet dishes. Listen, the food was good, the prices were fair and the portions were large. My biggest knock was not being able to dine in. It was impossible to put out food on top of rice or to use chili oil or soy sauce because we didn't have plates to stage our food. I just noticed this place was open, and yesterday just happened to be a nice opportunity for my lovely wife and I to give it a try for lunch. Walking in, the place has a nice atmosphere, as well as being very clean and smelling delicious. A young woman greeted us with a warm and friendly smile, and told us to choose where we wanted to sit. There were only two filled tables, and we chose a booth. The restaurant is essentially one narrow room. Also, it seems to be a family-run business. Onto the food. We ordered what our server called Egg Drop Hot & Sour Soup. Hot & Sour is our all-time favorite Chinese soup. The soup arrived fairly quickly after we placed our order The broth was both spicy and delicious. What it wasn't was sour. We expressed this to our waitress, suggesting that a bit more vinegar be added to the soup (that's how I adjust the taste at home when I make this soup). She seemed interested and thanked us for our suggestion. As my wife said, if you're going to call it hot and sour soup, it needs to be sour. The rest of our order was nicely cooked, and the portions were fine, but there was an overall blandness to it, as if the chef was afraid of turning off sensitive American palates. My wife's Sweet & Sour Chicken was nice, but bland. The chicken inside the roundish breading was unseasoned, the sauce just OK. My Szechuan Beef should've screamed flavor with its spicy sauce, but nope. The fried rice was also bland, and my wife thought her egg roll had a harsh taste, but couldn't place what it was. I didn't taste that in mine, but again, it was bland. The one interesting thing that happened was when our server came to our table to apologize to my wife for not refilling her glass of water. A man who we think is the owner (and makes it clear he doesn't speak English) brought us two small bowls of delicious vanilla ice cream--gratis. My wife heard him talking to our server, and we think the free ice cream might have been an apology for the lapse in service. We never complained because we had all the water we wanted, but that's how it looked to us. Great Chinese food immerses you in its flavors. I stir-fry all the time and I know what ingredients are the hallmarks of the flavor profiles from the various regional cuisines of China. This is why my wife and I were so disappointed in the timidity shown by the kitchen in preparing our dishes. We were hoping for more. That being said, we think we'll give this place another try. While the food merits about 2.5 stars, the warm and courteous service--and that free ice cream--boosts my rating to four stars. read more

I ordered 4 items on the menu with the intent to have lots of leftovers to eat through the week... I reviewed everything on the menu, and chose what I thought would be a good mix of flavors. I was very disappointed to get home, open all the containers, and find everything looking similar... all dishes (except the lo mein) had a heavy dose of dried chili flakes and every dish was cooked with the same brown sauce. I expected the salt and pepper chicken wings to be simply fried wings tossed in the normal Chinese salt/white pepper combo, maybe with some minced garlic and green onions and jalapenos that other Chinese restaurants serve. Instead, the wings were tossed in the brown sauce full of dried red pepper flakes. Yuck! Instead of having various flavors from each dish, it was all one note. I had eaten from Wei Hai awhile ago and thought it was good, authentic Cantonese and Szechuan cooking. Not anymore. Next time I'll go to the other Chinese restaurant in Port Orchard which has different sauces/flavors for their various dishes. read more

To start, I should acknowledge that this was a delivery order, and our first experience at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we did not have the positive experience that most customers seem to have. While the potstickers were enjoyable, the rest of our meal, the sesame chicken and vegetable noodles, were not up to our standard. This place ‍ I was craving Chinese food so bad and I decided to give it a try, I ordered crab wontons, plain LO mein, and orange chicken. I figured you can't go wrong with those right that's pretty basic. The noodles were rubbery stringy little things, kind of felt like I was eating a fork full of rubber bands, the chicken took so long to chew I stopped eating it after a couple bites, it had this like hard chicken jerky feeling exterior is the best way I could describe it and it had a slimy spicy sauce that wasn't like any other orange chicken I've had before. This is probably my favorite restaurant at the moment. I've gotten a lot from here and it has never disappointed. The curry chicken is amazing, the fried rice is some of the best I've ever had, the Creamy Coconut Shrimp is perfect, the Pork Bao is delicious, I could go on. Also the serving sizes are extremely generous. If you order one order of fried rice you get enough to feed 2-4 people. The only problem I've ever had here is that the veggies in the curry chicken I got were cut really large but that is not too much of a problem to me. Decent new Chinese place in Port Orchard. We were at a nearby store and saw the "grand opening" sign so stopped in for lunch. I ordered the Mongolian Beef (great litmus test for any new Chinese restaurant) and Anne got the Chicken with Vegetables, ordered as "very spicy". We also ordered the Pork Bao (bun). Both dishes were ordered with fried rice. I had the hot/sour soup, Anne the egg drop soup. Both soups were pretty good - the hot/sour was pretty good, just not too "hot and sour" The Egg Drop was pretty good actually The Mongolian Beef was also also pretty good - decent flavor, but no crunchy rice noodles like most places do. The "fried rice" it came with wasn't great - I'd probably order steamed rice next time. Our waitress came back and told us they were out of Pork Bao... so we substituted the only other option, the vegetable Bao instead. But the two buns came AFTER our main dishes so hardly an appetizer. And they still had the Chimei brand paper wrapping paper on the bottom! That's really odd. Best Chinese food I've had in the 12 years of living in the northwest. Why 4 stars? Because we live in the next town over and it's a 25-35 min drive each way and they only offer take out. We heard about this place having great food over two years ago now and finally had the ability to order and pick up the food while running an errand in that town. It was amazing! If they had dine in service we would travel to eat here weekly! As after sitting 30-45 min in the takeout package while we travel an hour round trip to pick it up, takes away from how amazing this Chinese food is. It's served family style with large portions. We had the mushu pork , pork fried rice, sesame beef, combination low mien and wonton with red sauce. 70$ so it's not cheap but hands down worth every penny and fed us for two days. Plenty for leftovers the next day. I would much rather dine in and take the remainder home than go thru the long drive home torchering us with amazing smells in the car on what seems like hours to get home when your super hungry.
