Me and a friend decided to do some take out Chinese cause it's way too freakin hot to do any real cooking at her house. She lives near this Panda South Chinese Restaurant, so this is where we went. Service was fast and efficient in placing our order, we actually went inside instead of a phone order, just so there won't be any miscommunications with what we wanted. We got some pot stickers, beef chow fun, and cause Yelper Howie S. mentioned they had Tomato Beef Hong Kong noodles, we got that. They packed the crispy noodles separate, so they didn't get soggy with the toppings. All the food was still very hot when we got to her house and unpacked it all. The pot stickers lost some temp, but no biggie. The noodles of the chow fun were tender and not chewy and there was plenty of beef. The tomato beef over crispy noodles was very good with the sauce having the proper amount of vinegar for that little zing and not too sweet. I'd get food from here again. read more

Wish I could give no stars. Yesterday, I ordered hot and sour soup along with other entrées for pickup. I ate most of the food last night and saved the hot and sour soup for lunch today. Unfortunately, when I opened the soup, I discovered an unwelcome "extra protein"--a roach. Understandably, I was horrified. I immediately contacted the restaurant to inform them. While they offered a refund/ replacement, I declined. I explained the severity of the issue and urged them to address their food safety and cleanliness standards urgently. This experience was deeply unsettling, and I now regret eating the rest of the food. Taking laxatives for peace of mind shouldn't have to be part of dining out. I hope the restaurant takes this as a wake-up call to prioritize their customers' health and well-being. read more

I can't comment on anything else because I ALWAYS order the above. Be sure to order the Tomato Beef with Hong Kong style noodles. They're thinner and crispier than regular noodles. read more

We decided to eat here as our other restaurant was closed for a couple of weeks. We were not disappointed. The food was hot and fresh. The sauces were very flavorful. We had the Chicken Garlic Sauce and Chicken Egg Foo Young. We usually split an order and have leftovers but we finished the whole order! White pepper at the table was another plus. The food here is some of my favorite in Redding. It's our weeknight go to when we're looking for Chinese food.

I haven't tried any other Chinese restaurants in Redding. This is my first. I can only compare this place to restaurants in the SF Bay Area. The food is not greasy and caters to people that don't want too much sauce or salt in their food. The service for a take out order was fantastic. Olivia was so incredibly helpful and charming. Definitely a breath of fresh air. The owner came out to greet us as well and was very friendly to my daughter. I would say that the food is good but if you are looking for more sauce then ask for it. I will most definitely use this place as my measuring standard towards other Chinese restaurants in the area. I recommend Panda South. read more

I found this place via a sushi chef at another restaurant. So glad I tried it. My favorite at another restaurant that has closed was War Wonton soup. It didn't disappoint. Delicious comfort food at its best. Also ordered potstickers. They were HUGE and delicious. Same for chicken chow mein. I was also impressed with the super friendly fast service. Food doesnt taste good. I ordered orange chkn, beef veggies & chkn chow mein. Everything tasted bland!! The orange chk sauce did not taste like orange at alllll!!! Chow mein noodles are BIG theyre more like udon...it had a weird plastic like taste to it. The beef vegetable had an off taste to it too....a very subtle odor that just threw the whole dish off. Rice was good. I'll probably never recommend this place to anyone who stops by Redding area. It is very pricey & pretty disappointing. THE GUY AT THE COUNTER...he was nice & friendly. I always order the same thing from their lunch menu, Sesame chicken with friend rice, that also comes with an egg roll. The prices are fair and the portions are hefty. Okay now I'm really happy the Sailing Boat does not have it together for call-in ordering. Fortunately Panda South was on the Entrée Express menu. Both my wife and I loved the food and will definitely order again from Panda South. There was a bit of a language barrier ordering but other than that, we cannot wait to eat their food again. We had egg foo young, broccoli beef and almond chicken. Yeah that is a lot of food but we will get 4 more meals from our order. I'm not normally a huge fan of chinese food but theirs is one i make the exception for. Their sesame chicken and chicken& broccoli are easily my favorite. They have some of the best wantons/crab rangoon that i've ever had. Only putting 4 stars because their menu on the BeyondMenu app could be a little easier navigate. Panda South has a quick take out service. I work down the street so I get take out orders at least once a week (or more). I have never had to wait for my food because they are always ready in ten minutes or less. Most places will tell you the pick up time is ten minutes, but in reality it's twenty or more minutes. In this case, I am giving them extra stars for their quick service. Their food, on the other hand, is inconsistent at times. It's not that it doesn't taste good...but when I order something, I expect it to taste like the previous times that I ordered it. Overall, kudos for always providing great service. Panda South was definitely a pleasant surprise. When I walked in, I was greeted by very nice staff who even gave us a couple of glasses of ice water even though we were ordering take-out. I got the Kung Pow Chicken Combo, my mom ordered the Chicken in Garlic Sauce Combo, my sister ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken Combo and my girlfriend ordered the Shrimp in Garlic Sauce Combo. We weren't sure what to expect, but we were very hungry and thought we'd give it a shot. We probably waited about 10 minutes before all of the food came out of the kitchen. The combo plates include Chicken Chow Mein and Pork Fried Rice (or steamed rice). They also included 2 Crab and Cheese Wontons! My girlfriend asked for Vegetable Chow Mein instead of the chicken and they had no problem fulfilling her request at no extra charge. After tax, all four meals came to $40.01. When we got home and opened up our plates, we were shocked at how much food we had! The Chow Mein noodles are huge (like they were boiled a little too long), but delicious. My Pork Fried Rice wasn't dry and it packed a ton of flavor. The Kung Pow Chicken I ordered was loaded with fresh veggies and a great amount of chicken. The Crab and Cheese Wontons were delicious (and I don't really care for crab!). All in all, I definitely recommend Panda South any time you're in the mood for Chinese food. If we had eaten there, we would have also gotten the soup of the day included with our combo!! read more
