There's plenty of parking in the plaza. Came during a weekend afternoon. The place did not have a lot of diners, but there were a lot of takeout orders. We ordered from the Lunch Special menu, which was from 11AM to 3PM everyday. The entrees came with Soup of the Day, Egg Roll, and either Steamed Rice, Pork Fried Rice, or Chicken Chow Mein. We ordered the Chicken with Snow Peas with Steamed Rice for $11.75, Vegetable Bean Curd with Steamed Rice for $11.55, and Beef with Oyster Sauce with Chicken Chow Mein for $12.55. The Soup of the Day was Hot & Sour Soup. The soup was really good, delicious, and not spicy at all. The Egg Rolls were crispy and too oily. The dipping sauce for the egg rolls was good. All the dishes were descent, but way too salty. We were told you can request the dishes to be light on the salt. We wouldn't mind returning next time as the flavors were good, but we would request the dishes be less salty. read more

We came here twice because New China is 8 min from Straight Arrow Bow Hunters range. We had low expectations the first time because we were starving but the food ended up being really solid! We got lunch specials the first time with paper wrapped chicken (tender dark pieces of meat wrapped in tin foil) and the second time we got the sizzling rice soup. Whoever wrote that this is the best chow mein ever has no taste bud. Literally tastes plain and very oily. The Mongolian beef is one of the worst I ever had. No favor and you can taste the cornstarch. The mandarin prawns are not good. The only thing I like from here was the crab cheese wonton. I'm not usually on this far west side of Redding, but I was visiting a friend that lives off the 299 out here and wanted to bring over some Chinese food for dinner. I found this place in a shopping center tucked away in a corner spot. I saw menu already and ordered the War Won Ton soup and the Singapore noodles to go. The wait wasn't long and all packed to go just fine. No cooking tonight, cause it's hotter than you know what out here. Heading for cooler weather tomorrow! Got to my friends house and we decided to be civilized and re - plate the noodles and put the soup in a proper bowl. No eating outta to go containers like some worker working late at the office or something. The food was very good, the soup had tons of goodies in it as well as lots of won ton dumplings. Disappointing! We placed an order at 2 PM for a 5 PM pickup on Christmas Eve...5 orders of the Hong Kong Dinner at $20.45 each. The total was $125.99. We asked for an additional order of Almond Chicken. My son was there at 5 PM to pick up the order, he had to wait more than 20 minutes. When we got the food home, we realized there was NO RICE and NO Almond Chicken, just another order of Beef w/broccoli. And for this we paid a nice tip! Service was excellent, the waiters checked back every few minutes to make sure drinks were full and everything was okay. Egg flower soup was hot and tasted great. Decided to go back to the New China Cafe on eureka way. I was there about a month ago and the prawns with vegetables was really bad. So I decided to give them a second try and took a friend. I had the happy family and it was excellent. The wide variety of ingredients. Chicken beef prawns I couldn't taste the crab meat. But it was supposed to be in there. Vegetables like broccoli mushrooms carrots water chestnuts bamboo shoots. Was a lot of food for $17.95 in fact I'm probably going to get four meals out of it. LOL LOL I fully recommend this restaurant for any Chinese food. Much better than anything else in Redding. You would have to go to San Francisco for better Chinese. The waiter was not quite as attentive as he then should have been until we were getting ready to leave. Will be back for more. read more

I absolutely love this place. It reminds me of my childhood, when all my family would go to our favorite Chinese restaurant. They recently closed and I thought I would never find good Chinese food. The service was amazing and quick. They always had your cup full and the plates came fast. Everything was so tasty, we nearly ordered the whole menu for just 4 of us. Earlier this week we tried take-out from New China for the second time. The staff is very friendly and they provided our order to us on time. Our order consisted of Mongolian Beef, Sweet & Sour Pork, Pork Fried Rice, Hot & Sour Soup, Steamed White Rice, and Egg Rolls. Unfortunately we were less than impressed with our order. The Mongolian Beef seemed to lack flavor, as did the Sweet & Sour Pork. The Pork Fried Rice, Steamed Rice were average but the egg rolls were soft instead of crisp and lacked flavor. The soup was better but not exceptional. The hot mustard was amazing; very hot and tasty, but unfortunately the sweet dipping sauce fairly bland. Our favorite Szechuan restaurant was closed so we thought we'd give New China another try. Sadly, we were unimpressed. read more

This was my first time ordering from this restaurant and I'm not thrilled. Using GrubHub for my delivery went well but I didn't receive all of my order. I ordered an eight piece fried prawns which I didn't get, I called the restaurant and the lady said that I didn't order them which was completely false, poor service. The food that we did get was just okay, not very good. The kung pao had no spice, the white rice looked and tasted like it was from yesterday. This was my favorite Chinese restaurant in Redding I can only assume that it changed hands. I went there today 9-14-24. The food was unrecognizable. Both dishes had something on top that looked like small french fries. I guessed later that it was air fried noodles. The cartons were half full of onions and other space filler. Not edible. It was a haul over here from her house over by Simpson, and what a disappointment. The egg rolls were actually really good and the fried rice passable, but the entrees were terrible. I got the General Tso's Chicken and I honestly don't believe there was any chicken, just chunks of fried batter. My husband's pork in garlic sauce was 95% celery and 5% teeny slivers of pork. We hardly ate anything and the server seemed surprised when he offered us to-go boxes and we declined. I don't care how much Mom likes this place, we won't be taking her here again. read more

The potstickers were doughy and underdone, the vegetable chow mein lacked the vegetables, the pork in garlic sauce contained a lot of pork in batter crumbs and the curry chicken was lackluster with not much chicken.
