This is great that we have a Vietnamese dessert and drinks place up in the northside! Though fairly still new having just operated only for 6 weeks, I feel that this place has a lot going for them. I ordered the Paradise and hubby had the Tropix. Paradise dessert drink has coconut juice while the Tropix has coconut milk. Both refreshing dessert drinks and full of fun and flavor. Not much seating indoors or outdoors, so best bet to get your drink and sip on your way. They also serve egg rolls, spring rolls, and banh mi. Again, this place has alot of potential and it's great to have a place like this close to home. read more

I always get the Paradise when I come here. Asked for less ice today and when the drink came out, there was no coconut water in it. When I asked the lady at the front, she gave me a confused look. When I asked again about the coconut water, she just nodded and took my drink back and added coconut water... weird for someone who works there to not know what goes in the drink. Walked in at exactly 8:51 and double checked the hours sign, which stated closes at 9. I was immediately greeted with a "we are closed". I asked the employee about the hours sign and then he changed his reply to "sorry we already shut down all the stuff". Now I understand employees wanting to leave early on a Sat night but they had clearly started shutting down way before. Making a drink for paying customers apparently would take up too much of their time. I guess it's a business that doesn't want business. read more

I love love love their waffles! They are crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. It's always made to order so it comes out hot and fresh. The service is always great and the employees are pretty friendly. I ordered a strawberry mango tea and it came out too sweet. I noticed whenever the older lady is working she makes it perfectly, but when it's other people.. it always come out too sweet. I sometimes have to pour in some water in order to balance out the sweetness. The flavors are definitely there, but next time I'll ask for less sugar or something because I'm not trying to walk away with diabetes. read more

Came back to try the dessert drinks (che) and food. Their che is surprisingly not bad, maybe just a bit pricey and not nearly as good as Bambu's. I tried both the Tropix (che trai cay) and Pandan Special (che ba mau). Maybe a bit stingy on the fruits (lychee, longan, jackfruit) and taro but otherwise pretty good. I do think Bambu has better tasting pandan jelly, shaved ice, and portions though. The coconut milk and ice here is a bit much compared to the toppings. The pandan waffle I got was real soggy, pretty meh. I had to go home and re-bake it, but it still wasn't that good. Too chewy and not enough pandan flavor. Grilled pork banh mi - pass! Their bread is ATROCIOUS and horribly toasted, pretty much a brick. Again, I had to go home and reheat it to be able to eat it. The sandwich is also a puny size for the price. Otherwise, it was almost there. Their vegetables are fresh with well-pickled, crunchy carrots/daikon, and their grilled pork is juicy and flavorful, marinated in soy sauce with a hint of ginger. Then a dash of Maggi completes the sandwich. If it wasn't for the bread (maybe also the white mayo), I think I would've enjoyed this banh mi. read more

Try the pandan waffle! It's unlike any waffle I've ever had before...crispy on the outside chewy on the inside, no need for extras! Don't be fooled by how pretty some of their drinks look though. I had the Avocado Blitz because it looked yummy but they must have put a whole avocado in there, it was way too overpowering! At first I thought they closed down until I saw the sign along Louetta Rd saying they have a new location. WOW! Their location is twice the size of their old one. It has much more of a restaurant feel and has a very comfortable eating environment. They lady behind the counter was telling me that they now offer Pho' or Beef Noodle Soup. Being honest, I was a bit skeptical about trying it due to I was in a Boba Tea place, but I gave it a shot. I was a bit disappointed about the way it was served. It was served in a plastic bowl. It felt like it was made to go and not to enjoy at my table. The spoon was also small and plastic. I told myself I would not let that be a factor, and chose to give it my honest opinion for the food itself. I AM SO VERY GLAD I DID. The taste was nothing like anything else I had from any of the other Pho' places around town. The broth so so tasty. The flavor set itself apart from everything else in the bowl, it has some of the tastiest beef flank steak and beef balls in it. I was very impressed with portion and even the cost. It was even a bit below the cost of the average price of Pho I have paid in the past. On the way out, the lady that worked there told me the soup is 100% homemade and that they do not buy the broth pre-made like other places do. She was saying it takes over 24 hours for the broth to be ready just by its self. Fantastic. If you are looking for a good lunch and maybe even dinner, then this will be a good choice for you. Very fair prices, great food, and good atmosphere. I am sure they are going to keep bringing great new things to enjoy in the future, and keep offering amazing taste for the types of foods and drinks they offer. We went in for Bubble tea on a Saturday afternoon. There was no one else in the shop, so we got the full attention of the lady behind the counter. I got a passion fruit juice (which was off-the-menu so I appreciated their making it for me) and a milk tea, both with regular Boba balls. The tapioca texture was just right and the flavor of the drinks was great, if a little too sweet. Also the size of the drinks was a tad smaller than I am used to for the price. I have been going to pandan leaf probably since the place opened on the other side of vintage park. 2009? 2010? Over the years they've had ups and downs (to the point where I wouldn't go for long stretches). However, I am glad to report they seem to be having a revival or sorts? New owners maybe? Drinks: being a long time customer I have tried a few drinks. My personal favorites has always been the Pandan Special if you like all sorts of beans & jellys in your drink. It's a snow ice drink which means its topped off with a snowcone...kinda reminds me of halo halo or for you non-filipinos textured cereal milk with ice. It's gooood. They since added 2-3 new drinks to the original line-up. I recently tried the summer snow which is a yogurt based snow containing strawberries kiwi & mango. It had an amazing sweet sour zing and the yogurt goes amazingly well with the ice. Loved it. The hazelnut mocha is rich and creamy & hits the spot most frozen coffees (cough cough starbucks) seem to miss. Tea fans: peach coconut tea creamy yet light with some chia and coconut bits. If you're in the smoothie kinda mood: jackfruit sunrise check coconut( try with coffee jelly!) check, pina colada annd check Food: prior to reopening pandan mainstays were the slimrolls & their waffles. Now they have a full menu of Vietnamese classics (beef pho vermicelli, and fried rice) as well as snacks (popcorn chicken fries, macaroons) Slim rolls: I like that they don't have the typical flavors you can get at any Vietnamese joint. My favorite is the hawaiian beef sweet savory Vermicelli bowl: didn't eat it but my dinning companion did. Imo it looked decent nice portion for $8 I did have a piece of the grilled pork--nice & tender. She rated it overall as "ok" Fried rice: not like a typical chinese fried rice a little lighter, possibly cooked in garlic oil? Came with pickled veggies peas carrots and sausage. Again large portion for the $8 price tag I got through a quarter and boxed it up Fries: I have gotten the sweet potato fries maybe twice. Truth be told we know its frozen but sometimes its nice to have someone else fry it up for you. The addition of the kimchi fries caught my attention recently so I finally tried it. Definitely shareable but it's a dish not for the faint at heart. Crispy fries coated with spicy kimchi, cheese, and sirracha aioli with your choice of grilled beef or chicken. I had the beef--it seems odd but it was delicious! Very very heavy a few bites in I boxed it up and hated myself a little Chicken: like the sweet potato fries...its good if you're in a bind but not necessarily the best pick of the menu Waffle: also good pandan flavoring not super strong but who doesn't like a hot off the press waffle? Service/ambiance: the new location is bigger than the last, however still a small space when there's a crowd. I prefer to sit outside anyway. Service is friendly they do get overwhelmed sometimes so not always speedy. Try to go when there's not a crowd read more

It's been a long while since I've been here. The last time was when they were at their original location on the other side of where they are now. So decided to give them a try since we were nearby. Stopped by after school to get one of my kids a drink. While waiting for the person in front of me to finish ordering another customer walked in and the lady at the register said hi to him and said long time no see. After she finished with the first customer she proceeded to take the order of the guy that had just walked in. I then looked at the customer she rang up before me and asked her if the lady just really did that and she was just shaking her head like she couldn't believe it either. Anyways, when she finally got to me she said oh thanks for waiting and I had replied with did I have a choice? I ordered my kid an avocado smoothie. When it finally came out he wasn't impressed. My boyfriend thinks they bought the bread at a Fiesta or something. The meat and vegetables were sparse. There was messy soy sauce dripping out of it. He thought his taro smoothie consistency was more like ice cream. My almond hazel coffee was much more melted then his. The girl who took our order seemed miserable to be there. There was a what in guessing a family kid going in and out of the kitchen. Way to run a business. Tiny space with ONE table inside. The weather permitted us to sit outside, luckily, or we would've been SOL since the table inside wasn't available. Yum! We happened upon this place walking around Vintage Park! Great place for bubble tea (can never have too many of those). We got the standard milk tea and thai tea with tapioca. Both were a little on the sweet side, but I prefer a little bitterness from the tannins in a tea. They also have a punch card if you come often :) definitely worth a visit if you haven't tried a tapioca drink before. Very disappointed with the food today. We ordered the deluxe and grilled pork banh mi sandwiches. First of all, the bread was hard as a rock. The meat on both the deluxe and grilled pork sandwiches did not taste fresh and had an odd smell. The vegetables were very mushy. We ended up throwing the sandwiches away. I work in the accounting department of power company up by Bush airport. I was out to lunch with the entire department when two of the girls I work with, who were both born in Vietnam, suggested that we get a post-lunch dessert at Pandan Leaf, where they sell Avocado smoothies. I'm usually down for any Asian food, and was very interested in the sweet side of avocado as I would usually season this vegetable (?) with salt or add to salsa or on top of a salad. Another one of our coworkers is from Brazil and explains that the avocado is eaten more as a fruit in his home country as well. Sounds great, let me at it! I love guacamole but understand the avocado as a very versatile flavor which can add a green tint and creamy texture to any array of ingredients. First of all, the location is very small for such a large shopping center. The Vintage Park shopping center is brand spanking new and expansion and Pandan Leaf is tucked between larger stores. Either way, it's clearly identified and new, clean, and streamlined organized inside. Ambiance is very bright and colorful and offers a lot of options for smoothies. You can add tapioca and a number of different types of jellies. I'd never seen Yucca tapioca offered, but then my boba tea experience has been limited. They also offered sandwiches and finger foods, but I didn't get to try those. The avocado smoothie was delicious. It was however made with sweetened condensed milk which was a cheat for me as I'm a recently converted Vegan. Many stomach ouchies later, but it was worth it. The smoothie was A LOT, so I could only finish half of it. Overall, a quick-in-quick-out experience. It meant a lot to me that it was recommended and heartily enjoyed by 2 native Vietnamese girls. I would rate it higher if I thought it was worth the hike from Midtown. Will look for a closer option. read more
