I've been to this diner several times and the food has never been a disappointment... The last time I was here I got the Jack Daniels meatloaf platter and it was delicious... My wife had one of their chicken platters and she said she would order it again... I'll start by saying this... The bread they gave us was pretty decent; after that, not so much. There are a lot of diners and competition in that sense around NJ, this place did not stand up to others. Everything tasted like it was out of a frozen bag. Meals were bland and unappetizing. We came in on a high recommendation and were left with a severe letdown. I got a seafood special, probably a bad call by me, but if it's on your special menu I'd at least expect it to be half decent. Wife got chicken parm, meh. Just very plain and unappetizing. Waitress was nowhere to be found half the meal, maybe she didn't want to deal with our toddler? He's good when we go out, he eats everything everywhere, but even he was uninterested in the meal. He did like the bread though. We witnessed a good part of what Linda H. reviewed. I would like to say that I just have never seen a manager of any type of establishment actually embarrass an employee, so rudely and unprofessionally in front of the general public. I honestly think the manager needs to be re-trained... not the new waitress. She was sweet and doing her best under the circumstances. I Ordered a Jewish wrap, on the menu the picture indicates that their wraps are cold cut based. However; they fry all their wraps, which is something they do not indicate on the menu. I contacted the restaurant owner/ manager and indicated that they do not list how it's prepared. She got defensive and started they were under no obligation to list how it's prepared, and it's up to the customer to ask. I explained the wrap was soggy and just made horribly. I guess since the restaurant is popular with older people the manager felt entitled. I ask if I could exchange for something else and she pompously informed me no. I'm all for good food, but horrible customer service is a no-no. My mom likes the food, but I will not be returning, due to miscommunication, and the owner not being willing to exchange the food item and give me adequate customer service. It was amazing! 1 star for Terrible customer service from the rude manager. They messed up my food twice tonight and the manager gives me a bad attitude when I tell her about it, unbelievable and very unprofessional. Starting off with crab soup which was all imitation crab meat, I should have known not to order the crab cakes. For $18, It was also filled with imitation crab meat and lots of fillers although the portions were large. . Gyro was terrible, even the tszaiki sauce was bad. Gyro meat was too even to be authentic. Stopped in while Christmas shopping in the area. 3 minute wait, waitress brought us drinks fast and took our orders quickly. Food was good, they should offer vegetables with the hot open turkey, wish they had more vegan options. French fries are fries in the same oil as fish, etc so could not eat them. The wife and I were in NJ for the retirement of one of her friends. We decided to stop and grab a small bite of lunch at Pandora Diner before heading to the retirement ceremony. Personally, I'm a fan of diners since the food is usually reasonably priced and good. Pandora Diner did not disappoint. I had the Chicken Saltimbocca Panini ($9.99), which came with a heaping side of fries and a choice of side salad or cup of soup. I had the soup, Crab Bisque. The soup possessed decent crab flavor, but would've been enhanced with a hint of sherry. It incorporated pieces of imitation crabmeat, which neither added nor detracted from the bisque. The Chris Christie-sized panini consisted of sliced ciabatta stuffed with a two whole breasts, prosciutto, spinach, sage, and mozzarella cheese. It was a good tasting sandwich, but way too much food for me. The fries were hot, crispy, with a nice steamy fluffiness. They were much better than what I've found in many much more pricey restaurants. Pandora Diner offered a lot (really, too much) of good tasting food for a very reasonable price. Thankfully, our friendly server gladly packed up a to-go box for the other half of my sandwich and fries. It was this combination of good service and good value that would definitely make me come back again. read more

Since were visiting from out of state, New Mexico, California, Virginia, New York and New Jersey, we do appreciate the fact the restaurant offered outdoor sitting. Sunday brunch was busy as expected . Wait time after your order is 1 1/2 hour. Staff very busy. We were not able to eat our meal party of 7 DUE to the Magot found in the pecans on top of the pancakes. Manager was obviously distraught and apologetic as was our waitress. Manager explained it was the new batch of pecans and would address the issue with the food distribution company. Everyone around us got up and left. Magot alive and well. We were not. This Diner has delicious food. The mini dinners are very reasonable in price and large selection on the menu. We had chicken Parmesan/ linguine, baby calves liver/onions and brown gravy w mushrooms, eggplant Parmesan and crabcakes. With salads soup and desserts. I wished I had a photo to show the only negative is the table was too small for all our plates. They definitely shorten the both tables from before they renovated a few years ago. The service was outstanding the waitress was very patient with taking our orders and very knowledgeable of their items on the menu. Had to ask for pickle and slaw, which was supposed to come with meal. I came here to eat, not beg for food all night long. The ruben was alright, with a fair amount of meat, but very salty. PEC on a Kaiser wouldn't think it came on a hamburger bun maybe mention they didn't have Kaiser rolls. 2 cream chip beef toast on the side I get back and they as I walk in they forgot to put it in the back. So back I go knowing it's been sitting now for 15 minutes and another 15 before I can eat it. Instead of just the cream chip beef they decide to slop it over my potatoes and didn't include my toast. Take a bite of it and it's thin and watery potatoes under cooked on top of waiting 15 mins when I got there. Only positive thing was the prices but I guess you get what you pay for. I was given food that was old and corrected by undercooked food that tasted like it was from out of a can. ...and they use smuckers pancake syrup; which is actually corn syrup. I would give them four stars for the service we received but the food served wasn't all that. Is it a night shift chefs unwritten rule with NJ diners to serve sub-par dishes after the dinner crowd leaves??? Just curious because diners lately have been sub par! We were a party of 6 our order was taken promptly and I in a pleasant manner by ooze waitress. Their menu is extensive and the prices quite reasonable for the selections. I had the Greek Gyro, it came with a soup and fries for $9.99. My soup choice was the meatball barley -yes meatball barley. It was in a tomato base and wasn't that bad tasting but the tiny meatballs looked and tasted just like something out of a Progresso canned soup. My Gyro was served with the traditiONal taziki sauce and also extra sauce on the side. It had tomatoes and lettuce in the pita bread but the meat was just plopped on top of the veggies although ok tasting it was dried out and not that appetizing to look at. The accompanying French fries were ok but the serving size could have been a bit bigger. For dessert I choose the tapioca pudding with whipped cream , it was pretty tasty. The bathroom on m had one stall with TP all filled up in the bowl in the handicap stall. Yuck! read more

This place was great a year ago but no longer. The service is fair at best. The food occasionally comes out cold and under cooked. Our last visit, my friend order salmon. It appeared to be done on the outside but the inside was cold and slimy. My friend sent it back and we waited 20 minutes for a fresh plate to be brought out but got nothing so we cancelled his dinner and left. A good hostess would have apologized and maybe offered us coffee or desert but Pandora's hostess complained to her waitress, "why are we cooking him another salmon if he doesn't want it" and coldly walked past us with no eye contact. read more
