I had dinner here with my family tonight. I eat here frequently, but tonight is my last time. The service is abysmal. It's run by children. It was pretty good at first although the waitress never brought us our place settings. After she brought the food to us I asked for silverware and napkins, she seemed legitimately surprised she forgot. She returned with one fork so I shared with my son The food was ok and we finished, but the waitress never returned to check on us. We sat there for 20 mins waiting (i needed a box) i spotted the boxes by the dessert case and got my own. Still no one bothered with us. So we started waking around and a different waitress gave us our check. I said where did our waitress go? She said on a delivery. So they send waitresses out on delivery while they are actively serving a table. The man at the desk asked how it was and i sure told him. He was sorry said he sent her and it was his fault. Wow. We are really one and done with this place. Went in for lunch and we both ordered chicken pot pie. Potatoes and some chicken in a mystery salty cream sauce with a soggy topping. Oh did I mention salty? When the waitress asked if we wanted boxes realizing we did not eat much, we told her we did not like it. I said the cook went overboard with the salt. There isn't much to eat in this town so having a small diner is nice. I've ever only gone for breakfast and each time it has been pretty good. It's the normal diner foods and I enjoy stopping in for breakfast when I'm in town. Pancakes are pretty good but I wouldn't suggest getting strawberries on them, they weren't that great. Today I mistakenly placed a $75 order to this diner instead of the Brothers Diner in PA, and the owner Sam would not refund me my money nor would he even speak to me on the phone. How does a business owner just keep $75 from a mistakenly placed order for food that was never even picked up? When I called a few hours later to hopefully speak to Sam, his manager came on the phone and after me pleading to do the right thing and refund me, she hung up on me! She said hers tasted like they made it with vinegar. Halfway eating one piece of my wrap the roast beef tasted rancid . The waitress sucked and she spilled my friends' coffee on the table with no apology. My soda tasted watered down. We should have spoke up to the management but didn't . Senior aged waitress didn't have hustle like a 30-year-old but called me "sweetie" twice and was on the spot when I needed water 3 times. The food was lightning quick and the portion was enough to carry me through dinner. If you want plastic smiles, fancier plates, gourmet food, or McDonald's prices this place isn't for you. This is the worse place I've ever eaten! Last month I went here for dessert and coffee at a friend's request and the dessert - Cannoli Cake - was utterly flavorless. I only remember one time in my adult life that I have gotten worse service. When I asked for a saucer for my coffee cup she said she would have to check to see IF THEY HAD ANY but then she decided to dump our mini creamers onto the table and give me that saucer. Now I ask you - whoever heard of a diner that does not have saucers for their coffee cups? Then she seemed a bit huffy when we didn't order fast enough. But since I was with a few people I didn't know I didn't say anything; I did tell my friend later that I was very unhappy and I could not go back there again. Depending on certain circumstances, I usually give an eatery three tries before packing it in but unless I get amnesia I'm never setting foot in this place again!! Stopped here for lunch with my husband after a day out at the Flea Market in Columbus. He informed me he'd been here a few times for a work lunch. The first thing I noticed was that the place was VERY clean, considering how many diners I have been to in my entire life. There was a HUGE "Specials" board that was clearly visible upon walking in, and everything on it sounded great. I wound up ordering one of the specials, Split Pea Soup and the Corned Beef Sub. Our waitress was really quite nice and very friendly, albeit a bit nervous, it seemed. Not sure if she was new or not. But she did a great job for the most part. My husband ordered the French Onion Soup and a Monte Cristo. While my soup came out very quickly, his took a few minutes extra. Once it got there, it was pretty clear they were busy making his soup in the back, as it looked like the cheese was freshly broiled over the top. My soup was just okay-not exactly how I am used to eating it. There was croutons in it, which I did say was okay to put in, but there were no pieces of peas or any ham. It was quite bland, but edible. My husband slurped his soup right up, so I knew it was fine for his standards. My sub was pretty tasty, but the best way I can explain it is it was as if I went to a friend's home and they just made me a sandwich with their dinner leftovers. I mean this as a compliment, please don't misunderstand. But still, it was kind of "plain". The corned beef was room temperature; I would have preferred it to be a bit warmer. I will say the fries that it came with tasted VERY good, and I don't think I had a single one left on my plate. My husband's portion was HUGE for his monte cristo. He ate the entire thing, and loved it. Since it's a diner-staple, he seemed happy with the turnout. Overall, the service was good, the food was not bad, and the place was clean. But I took a chance and I kept it simple I ordered a Spanish omelette with fried potatoes and a coffee. When I received the coffee it was barely lukewarm and tasted off. The waitress never once asked me for a refill or top off. My spinach omelette was really thin eggs flipped over with salsa on top I'm sorry but I could have done that at home and saved myself the ten bucks. She didn't know so she had to go as and low and behold, it was from a packet. Needless to say it was gross. Another time I had the smothered chicken. So this place has been in town for a while and I avoid it for a reason. First of all, when I called to order a short stack and a side of turkey sausage the total was over nine dollars. I decided to go there with my mother for lunch yesterday because that is where she wanted to go because it wasn't far. And again as usual the food is sub par. Behind me were a couple of vets having a good time while across the aisle were some ladies exchanging Christmas gifts and whooping it up. How could I not enjoy the experience? I ordered the french dip with no cheese and a side of fried potatoes. The layer of oil on the au jus makes me think it did not come from a powder. The taste was great. The sandwich itself was a bit odd. It looked like it had been smashed on the grill with a spatula which is something I am not used to. The meal also came with a small cup of cole slaw.
