Terrible business practices. Ordered 13 bagels the day before to be picked up at 9am the next morning. Order was confirmed, paid for with CC over the phone, and a text message was received at 8:52am that morning advising the order was ready for pick up. Got a call 5 minutes later advising the order was cancelled because they already ran out of bagels by 9am and they sold the 13 bagels we had already ordered and paid for the day before. In the mean time, one of our employees had responded to pick up the bagels and was met with an uncaring and snarky attitude upon receiving the complaint about selling the bagels we had already paid for. the employee was basically told "Too bad. We sold your bagels. You should have ordered two days in advance. Nothing we can do about it. We'll refund your money." What an unprofessional, incompetent and arrogantly discourteous business. read more

Been there several more times.. Everything has been great! It gets busy on the weekends. I went there and the line was out the door. However, it only took a few minutes to get to the front of the line. It appears they run a pretty tight ship. The food is always great and the employees are very friendly. Not a good experience! The restaurant was a mess, not a clean table in the place. I wanted ice tea, but the unsweetened tasted 3-days old so I switched to lemonade. The self service drink area was a mess because the lemonade dispenser had a leak and it was spraying out from the top. No offer to fix it, just we haven't had time to put an out of order sign on it... no offer to refund my drink. $7 sandwich had about 2oz of chicken and not the way I ordered it. They acted like my asking them to fix it was a burden, and while they were the avocado fell off but they didn't add it back on. Sure enough my daughter's sandwich was not as she clearly ordered either and the manager was not kind to her when she ask to have it fixed. read more

A shadow of it's former self. I waited at the pick up counter over 10 minutes for a sausage egg cheese bagel. My bagel got toasted right away. Then sat for 5 minutes. Then they cooked the sausage. After this, they put cold scrambled eggs on the sandwich, and then the sausage shortly after on an under proofed bagel. Thankfully it was slightly warm from the hot sausage and edible. 10 years ago panera was the place for great fresh baked bread and bagels that were worth the price. Now everything has degraded to the point that I can't see this chain lasting much longer. At least not in Columbia SC. I'm willing to pay higher prices for quality food and service... but this is not it. read more

I've been to this Panera several times, each time there was something wrong with my order. The most recent times, I've ordered a bbq chicken sandwich and it didn't have bbq sauce on it, it had some kind of really spicy sauce that was just horrible. And every time I order the iced chai tea latte it's basically just a cup of milk with ice. Almost zero chai. Which is disappointing because that's one of my favorites at Panera. This is not Paradise barkery, sadly. Panera has gone down hill. Seems that cost savings is there number one goal. Minimal staff, long lines and a menu that is a shell of its former self. That have taken all of the customer service out of this business. You wait to place your order, then they call you up to there window. They have turned it into a fast food restaurant, but even Chik-fila will bring your food out to you. Also, this place is filthy, the tables, the floors and restrooms. Sad! The whole staff was confused and rude and acted like it was an inconvenience to get things we ordered. Drink size was wrong and the cup was only half filled up, out of lots of lots of things including Greek yogurt, napkins, and cream for coffee, we had to follow up at the 20 minute mark on bagels we ordered when others got their food already (and they only have to toast the bagels- not even apply the cream cheese), and the women's bathroom was extremely disgusting along with the rest of the general areas. It takes a lot for me to leave a review like this, but this was really a terrible experience and we all left feeling so gross. read more

Absolute horrible location! Noah Alvarez is a lousy manager. I placed a Uber eats order to a hotel. When I opened my food 4 things were missing! I had a $75 order too! I ordered soups as well and asked for utensils there were none. My grilled cheese was non grilled bread with cheese. Noah told me I could pick up my missing items at the store. I explained to him I'm visiting from out of town and didn't have a car hence Uber eats. He could have mailed me a gift card but he didn't offer. Do better Panera. The Pick 2 is misleading-you pick 2 and pay for both items -this is not a deal. The tables and trash area were dirty with plates piled very high all around the trash can and the trash can was overflowing. Not a huge fan of Panera but my fiance loves it. This is probably the worst location I have ever tried. The ingredients are not as fresh as I have come to expect from Panera. Also, the meals are very hit or miss...sometimes it's great, sometimes not so great. Service is mediocre. First off the staff is always great. The issue I have is cleanliness and broken equipment. I usually have to grab some napkins and wet the to clean off my own table. Drink machines, the ones that you get your teas and lemonades from. These are supposed to circulate the drink. Otherwise all the pulp settles and the drink you pour is horrible. I've pointed this out on several occasions and once was told they have Rey the part to fix and manger just hasn't had time. It's been a month now. I'll just start going to the other locations. Our family was just passing through town and all decided we wanted something more on the healthy side for lunch. As soon as we walked in, we should have just walked out, but we gave it a try. This whole establishment was DIRTY. Not one employee even bothered to wipe down tables, clean the floor by the drink machine, or check bathrooms. You need a hazmat suit for the bathroom. The gas stations I have stopped at during our road trip were so much cleaner than this place. The food was okay, but after eating it we are all reeling with some stomach aches. DO NOT eat here. Easy stop for delicious breakfast treats on my way to the office! I'm a long time fan of their broccoli cheddar soup too. The bacon turkey bravo was my go to sandwich but now I'm a big fan of the chicken panini. You can order and pay through the Panera app and just pick it up. It's so easy. Also... totally sign up for Panera rewards. It's amazing! I just received a free birthday treat and a free bagel EVERY DAY for the whole month of January. I go to Panera Bread shops around Columbia at least once a month. Harbison, Blythewood, Lexington and Gervais. This is my first and last visit to this store. We got in line and a young man was training a young lady, she had her head on the counter obviously not even looking at him. He informed us we could only order breakfast. Then a couple behind us ask another person who said you could order anything but soup. We had already ordered. I used the restroom. It was the filthiest I believe I have seen in years. Truck stops are cleaner. I asked how we would know when our food was ready and was told they would call our name . They didn't. We had to ask. Finally we made it to our table which was also dirty, minus the odor of the restroom. We will never return. read more

After a beautiful vacation at Hilton Head Island, my family and I departed to return home to Pittsburgh. After 3 and a 1/2 hours in the car, we needed a break and breakfast and decided to stop at this restaurant. I needed to use the restroom and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years (on toilet in particular). An employee walked in and I informed him of the mess in the only stall in the men's room and he simply said "Okay, sorry" and walked off. Then it was time to order breakfast. The family in front of us in line ordered breakfast sandwiches. We than proceeded to try and order ourselves breakfast sandwiches and they said "Breakfast is done now" at 10:50 when not a single person was behind us in line. So I was hungry and I just had my nails done a few doors down from this Panera Bread location. I wanted a chicken Caesar salad. It started to go downhill when I placed my order. Giving the young girl my order with all the information she needed but then I had to answer all of the order information again. Then I get my order. Chicken was ice cold like they just took it out of the refrigerator, the cheese was out of a shaker not the shaved that they use to do. It cost $10. The Panera Bread restaurant on Garners Ferry Road is to be avoided at all costs. In all of my years of patronizing Panera Bread, the experience at this store was the worst. I purchased my usual 'you pick 2' on Saturday (takeout) and took my chances on this store since it was close to my Aunt's house and what a mistake. The Greek salad dressing (that I spread on my tuna sandwich bread was sweet. I don't eat sugar so needless to say it spoiled my sandwich and dining experience. I usually eat my Greek Salad, Sandwich, and Chips together, however, the sugary salad dressing spoiled everything. To make matters worse, I drove over 10 miles back to the store and told the manager on duty; he asked me so many questions about what time I purchased the menu items, did I pay with a card or cash, did I have the receipt, etc. and I shared with him in detail who prepared my sandwich, offered my Panera card number and even had my sister to verify; all this for a sandwich that I had brought back and salad, still in the container. He went to the back for over 13 minutes and I asked the cashier to let him know that I was still there. He came back and I shared that never in my Panera history have I ever been insulted and interrogated for an error that Panera made. He went to make my sandwich and at that point, I didn't want his energy in my food and asked for someone else to make it...a staff member did, however when I asked for a remake of the salad, I was told, well it was nothing wrong with that and he refused to remake it. Mind you, I drove over 10 miles for an error on Panera's part and the manager didn't have enough customer service training to apologize and make it right. No customer deserves to be insulted like this, so do yourself a favor and DO NOT EAT at the Garner's Ferry Location. We'll I decided to give this Panera another try; after finding a fly and hair in my sandwich. You never know what's underneath your top slice of bread so I always check it, but so far so good. Mediocre food, great coffee and decent breads, plus free Wi-Fi. That sums this place up quite nicely. The foods are expensive and don't taste fresh. It seems to be airline quality food, and I've tasted enough of the menu to notice how much better other cafes are in terms of freshness. Cold cuts are often slimy slabs of pressed meat and the breads can be tough and chewy. The soups are not much better, with overly gummy and fatty mouth feels; I've gotten more than one hot night on the john from the soups... Their coffee is a different story and it's wonderful and fresh. The pastries are pretty good, too, but they're often loaded with calories and such, so just stick with the coffee. Close proximity to the med school means that this place is packed with students glomming Wi-Fi and hogging large tables all to themselves. The chairs are also uncomfy after 15 minutes or so. I usually just come here for coffee and a quick sit down to read the Free Times. Prices for food are very high and coffee prices are reasonable. read more

As Panera Breads go, this one was very clean, very large, and the service was great, they gave you one of those plastic discs that light up when your food is ready. Not real necessary when it's not crowded, but it's a nice touch. It means you can go sit down while you're waiting for the food. I've eaten at half a dozen Paneras, and the food tends to be consistent and good. This location was all of that. They even had good outdoor seating. I had the chicken soup and a half sandwich. Luckily, I caught it in time, so I called the shop and explained to them that I hadn't placed the order. The pulled it from the rapid pickup area and refunded me the amount. hello, I got food delivered to me from this location on my work break yesterday. Everything was fine for a hour or two after consuming the food. I did notice that driving home my stomach started feeling really queasy. By the time I arrived home last night I had everything. Vomiting chills/sweats, diarrhoea. Etc. I've felt miserable ever since then. Couldn't even get a good night's sleep because I kept having to get up and run to the trashcan or restroom. I'm not sure what I ate from there that really made me sick. But i just wanted to let the restaurant and other possible customers know about this. Breakfast sandwiches here are quite good and so are the smoothies I've tried here. They Have a nice seating area once you ordered and pick your food up at the counter. For a sandwich and smoothie will run you close to 10.00 but you get what you paid for. read more
