The lady working behind the counter had a bit of an attitude, though another team member and the manager were able to jump in and help out. This was on 05 april 2025 at panera in Horsehead. we went to order bread, the ladies there were ignoring everyone and we could see them not doing anything at that time, when I asked if I can place an order a white blond lady (was checking her watch every second) said yeah you can but was very frustrated and acted as she doesn't understand what I am saying. at the end I ended up with a totally wrong order. Went over the Christmas holidays with 3 very young grandchildren, that were very hunger. The woman taking the order did not listen at all and served three wrong meals. When I complained they were going to send me to a supervisor, the kids would not eat what they served them, because they were disappointed they didn't get what they asked for. When I complained privately they said they would give me credit if I had a Panera Bread membership I told them I didn't have one and then they just blew me off. Let's just start off by saying that I love Panera. I go all the time no matter where I've been. We recently visited the Finger Lakes region and decided to stay in Horseheads. And lucky for me, there's a Panera right here, minutes from the hotel. Over the 3 days we stayed here, we ordered takeout from here 3 times, and I ordered the cream of chicken with wild rice twice. And twice I was given chicken noodle soup instead. First time I thought was an honest mistake, but after the second time I thought that there must be some issue with this location and the cream of chicken with wild rice. Do they have a problem with reading comprehension? Maybe they just don't have the cream of chicken and substituted it with the chicken noodle soup? The world may never know. read more

We ordered tea, but there was no boiled water, we wanted to tell the cashier but she said she cannot tell anyone to bring boiled water until she gets other peoples order first, there was along line, we waited !!!! Panera is a good place to eat if your in a hurry they have quality food but I gave them 3 stars because of them retiring the chocolate chip bagel and the blueberry bagel and this frustrated me because after doing sports we would always go to Panera at least 3 times a week and I always would get a chocolate chip bagel, and I have been boycotting Panera because of it. Had lunch and the food quality is true and we could I had the 10 vegetable cup of soup with a Almond and chicken salad on white bread; my wife had the cheddar broccoli soup with a tuna sandwich on focaccia bread. I was surprised at the $29 bill with the computer request for a tip.The reason I was surprised at the saying the door said 599 for a cup of soup and half a sandwich and then I paid double for both hers and mine. I asked the cashier the reason for the price job and she said well you just pick the price for a cuppa soup and then pick you up a sandwich that's what I did and then the price doubled for each of us. They gave us a buzzer for winter food is ready and told my wife who has a bad leg to stand at the end of the counter for her coffee she did when she finally got to the end of the line they told her to go to another wine or they have the cappuccino. At the Syracuse one we should just go to the table and they bring everything to us but not here. She didn't like her coffee so the cleanup lady replaced it and then the second one was better. Hands down the worst Panera I have ever been to. I don't even know where to begin. I suppose I will start from how terrible their service is. Service: When you see 5 people in line you would think it may grab somebody's attention to rush to the register. Wrong! They keep on performing their mindless tasks of texting while working, cleaning a spotless counter (not a bad thing), and hiding in the back. We waiting almost 5 minutes before we got our orders placed. Meanwhile, at peak hours, they decide 'hey what a great time it would be to VACUUM!' I understand keeping the place clean and welcoming but can't you wait until there is maybe 1 guest in the dinning area? My biggest issue with this Panera is their Internet. Panera Bread is my 'fast-food joint. Healthy, wholesome, substantial eats at affordable prices. Recently stopped in for the seasonal autumn bisque. Wish it came in 5 gallon slop pails for freezing! :) The Big Flats/Horseheads location is always clean and busy! The staffers are great. The seasonal squash soup is the die for, and well as my new favorite the Lentil-Quinoa soup with cage free egg. Food was good, as with most Paneras. However, it bothers me that we were the only ones at the counter and we had to wait to order until the two kids finished their conversation about a car. (Same thing back by the food assembly area; I heard all about favorite bands and xBox while a lot of them were just standing around.) When I worked foodservice in my early 20s, man, if you weren't making food, you should be cleaning. I mention that- specifically- because as I got my iced tea, I noticed a neglected daily maintenance item. When I finished getting iced tea from the tap, a momentary string of slimey sludge remained behind. I peeked; all the tea taps were grody with tannin bacteria underneath. We went to Panera for the first time after the shut down due to the Corona Virus. Not all the tables were six feet apart and there was a fly in our salad. They wouldn't give us a refund and never apologized for the inconvenience. They just remade the salad. I am disgusted and appalled and I will not be attending again. read more
