Every year when I'm visiting my parents for the holidays, my cousin and I venture out in the WB area for some shopping and inevitably crave a healthier lunch option after our heavy holiday meals. I was really happy to find that Red Leaf opened a location in the Arena Hub plaza. Parking is easy since it's in a shopping center. We arrived during prime lunchtime and found just 1-2 people ahead of us in line, and the line moved fairly quickly. You can choose from multiple signature salad or grain bowl options, or you can opt to create your own bowl. All salads are also available as wraps. On this particular visit, I chose the Far East grain bowl: spinach, quinoa, broccoli, carrots, edamame, oranges, and almonds with a carrot ginger dressing. At the first station, an employee piled all of my toppings into a bowl, making sure to ask me if I wanted to change or add anything to their predesigned bowl. There were several stations where multiple other employees were waiting to better mix the bowls using a mezzaluna. After chopping all the ingredients, I was asked which dressing I wanted --- I replied that I wanted the one that the bowl came with, but the employee wasn't able to remember the correct dressing, needing to flag down another worker to ask. It might be beneficial for them to post the dressings that correspond to the different salads at the mezzaluna station for employee and/or customer to see. My bowl was delicious, and the mezzaluna is clutch in creating a dish that allows you to get all of the various flavors in one bite. It was fresh, colorful, tasty, and impressively affordable --- coming in under $9 for a vegetarian bowl with plenty of fresh veggies. Definitely a great deal! Similarly, my cousin designed her own wrap, which was big enough for her to take half home. I did see a few folks come in and pick up online orders and it seemed to go smoothly, though reviews here suggest it may not always be a time-saver. Absolutely will keep Red Leaf in mind for any future quick lunches in the WB area. read more

Three of us had lunch here while passing through the area. Two didn't enjoy their salads at all - said the chicken they ordered was actually turkey and they did not enjoy how the salads were chopped and all mixed together in a very deep bowl. I had a grain bowl which I actually enjoyed. Place was noisy - hard to have a conversation. It took forever for our salads to be prepared as the workers were not efficient at all. I love huge salads- especially when you can customize to your liking. We drove way out of our way in order to get these salads, so that's saying alot. I like to add a plethora of ingredients, lightly chopped, fresh squeezed lemon (half), with spicy verde or the curry vinaigrette on the side. I placed an online order at 4:54 pm, planning to pick it up on my way out of town. I specifically asked that it be done at 5:15. Turns out, I accidently ordered it at the wrong location, so when I got to Wilkes Barre to pick it up, there was no order. I realized my error, but the WB location said I needed to contact the Dallas location. I called the Dallas location and spoke to Erin the manager. She told me that since I made the error, there was nothing they could/would do. I should have called before they made the order. I explained that I could not go that far out of my way to pick it up, so they could go ahead and dispose of it. The next day, I called and spoke to the district manager (her name starts with a D, but that's all I remember) I explained that I did not have time to call to correct the mistake, because despite my implicit instructions to make my order for 5:15 (20 minutes from when I ordered) it was completed by 5:04. According to the DM, company policy doesn't allow them to make any refund and she told me that someone came in and picked the order up, using my name. That is impossible. So not only was I out the $11.37 for a wrap, they gave it to some stranger. Please keep this in mind when you go to order from either location, as they are owned by the same person. I'm hoping that someone actually was given the wrap and enjoyed it. read more

My mom and I went here for lunch. It was very hot out so we thought something quick and refreshing would help. Both of us got the biggest sized salads. I've visited Red Leaf multiple times for lunch and dinner and I've never been disappointed. They have a nice selection of very fresh salad greens and an enormous amount of toppings from fruits to proteins to fried jalapeños and more. They also have a large selection of salad dressings for you to choose from. I've tried many and each one has been very good. Red Leaf also has a nice selection of wraps and at least two fresh soup choices daily. My only gripe is the selection of beverages....it's Kombucha, Snapple products, iced teas and that's it. No soda option, not even Sparkling Ice. The staff is very busy and very friendly and accommodating. I always need convincing to get a salad and the salads are not cheap but at least get the order right. Either saturated or barely any dressing. At least put the right dressing on. Every time we order it's never consistent. The salads are either over stuffed or sometimes 3/4 of the way full. I mean it's right there on the order you don't have to wonder what's going in the salad. The Wilkes Barre read leaf is terrible. Maybe stick to the Dallas red leaf but out of the way. read more

Unfortunate that the girl taking our order hated her job so badly. I wouldn't normally write a review like this but it's just not worth being that unpleasant at work. Sometimes there can be other things going on but when someone seems so irritated anytime my hard of hearing mother asks a question it really just boils down to being nasty. It's also frustrating that she was too lazy to let us pick out ingredients so she made us tell her everything we wanted at once. If we stuttered or took a second to think she became annoyed. Mix this with continually wiping her sweaty face with the glove she was using, it hurt our experience. My wife didn't get the correct ingredients and before we even discussed the attitude of the girl she said "I would have said something but I was afraid she'd cut me". BTW, I've been a Red Leaf fan since the beginning. Hopefully some training can fix this. read more

Awful awful awful customer service. Ordered online thru the app: never doing that again. They said it would be FOURTY FIVE MINUTES. I called and asked if there was anyway it can be earlier and the worker told me "I guess we can start making it now" like??? That would be great! Then we get there and get the order even earlier than it was supposed to be ready. PERFECT! We get home 1 wrap is totally and completely wrong. The grain bowl is half portioned and sloppy. I call to say that I'm upset and all I get is unprofessional sas. She tells me she'll refund me for the chicken she forgot to put on the wrap. I tell her the whole wrap is wrong then she finally caves and says she'll refund me for the wrap. Then I say what about the grain bowl? She tells me that she was there and saw her make the whole thing and it was regularly portioned. In the 3+ years I've been going here that had never been the case so the manager was either lying or their service and portions have gone way down. I am very upset by the whole experience and very upset that I even have to write this because the owner and his whole family are very kind and nice but the manager was so rude and the staff is unbelievable. When something is wrong something is wrong and you should respect your customers not talk over them and tell them THEY are the ones in the wrong. I cannot believe this whole event. I really like this place! A welcomed healthy spot. They have so many different options! All the different options can be a bit overwhelming but that's a good probably to have. They O'Hare pre-suggested menu items- which all sound delicious. They also offer a 'build-your-own' option- which I always do! I normally get a salad, and they are huge! Honestly they are big enough for two people or lunch the next day. The last trip I tried their chicken tortilla-less soup, and it was tasty. I came with my mom, who never ate at a place like this before and was basically yelled at when she didn't know what the counter girl was asking her, regarding what kind of wrap she wanted. She didn't even say wrap, she said white, Spinach, or tomato and when my mom said what? She just stared at her like she was stupid. I wanted to just leave then, but didn't. This isn't the first bad experience I had here either. Every time the staff is rude, in Wilkes barre and Dallas. I also work in the customer service business, and even if you're having a bad day, you don't take it out on the guests. It is inexcusable and obviously the managers know that this happens often, but it seems nobody cares. It's a salad place, no excuse to act superior. Great concept, great options but horrendous service. Although they say you should notify the employee if you have an allergy - don't bother and just go elsewhere. They don't seem to be aware of the severity of cross contamination. The employee put me at risk MULTIPLE times during my short visit, and if it wasn't for my constant attention, I very well could have experienced a deadly allergic reaction due to their lack of awareness, education, and care on the topic. Great place to eat in or take out. Both their Dallas and Wilkes Barre locations are nice. They have custom salads, salad suggestions, wraps, grain bowls and soups. They also offer cookies and drinks near the register. My boyfriend and I usually get salads to go. You can order online ahead of time and pickup at the register or wait and order in line. If there is a line it moves pretty quickly. The salads and topping are all very fresh. For a custom salad you can pick 5 regular toppings. Premium toppings are extra. We usually end up spending about $10-$12 per salad w/add ins. They also include one triangle of pita bread if you want it (they didn't always do this, but it's a nice addition). After you pick everything you want you can choose to have your salad as is and mixed or chopped. You can also get the dressing mixed in or on the side.
