For what it is, Panera is amazing. The meals are cheap. Their bakery items are tasty. They have a good variety of light items on their menu to satisfy hunger, from soups, salads, sandwiches, to yummy smoothies and coffees. Congratulations, Panera!! You have run off yet another customer. Last night, Feb. 18, 2021, we ordered curbside pickup for the first time. Not knowing how their system works, I ordered from my phone. Then it popped up that when you arrive at curbside you are to press a link in an email. I told my husband to call me upon arrival so I could let them know he was there. I followed their Directions and it was acknowledged. 1/2 hr. later, I receive another notice the order is ready. I once again responded. It said it was aware we were there but it couldn't retrieve our information. I called my husband and asked if he would go in. I also asked he check the order and the temperature. The manager got involved and he would do nothing.....would not even reheat the order. He was also quite rude. No excuse for that behavior. Would not even apologize For the 1/2 hr. wait. We are done. You win!!!!! Too many restaurants out there that have wonderful food and service. This is 2nd experience at this location with staff rudeness. read more

Panera has always been my go-to for fast, healthy, and consistently well-made food. This location taught me that not all Paneras are equal apparently. After nearly every visit, I am left disappointed in the quality. My salad today was the final straw. I ordered the Fuji apple chicken salad, which I have ordered many times before, and the lettuce was inedible. Half of it was frozen and the other half was brown and wilted. If I wasn't already back at work when I made this discovery, I would have complained. My fingers are crossed that I don't get food poisoning. read more

Tonight, I ordered a salad and included specific instructions to not include olives and cheese (because I am severely allergic). Also, I asked the cashier to include quinoa to my order. Upon arriving home, I realized that they did not remove any of the toppings I asked them to and they did not include any of the toppings I asked to be added. I ordered this meal rapid pick up and I was entirely unimpressed. They did have my food ready in time for my partner to pick it up but that's the only thing that went right. I ordered the You Pick 2 with a broccoli cheddar soup bread bowl and an extra cup as the second item. I was not feeling well, hence the soup order, and wasn't there to check the order. He arrived to my sick self happy to feed me but that was short lived. The only thing right was the actual bread bowl. The bread bowl got them 2 stars. The bag had my name on it with my order but the entire order was wrong. It had a soup I never ate before and the extra one was missing. In short, I was ripped off with my entire order. I was sick and not in a place to call and have them correct it since all I wanted to do was eat. So, I ate this unknown soup and will most likely never return to this location. Had they at least checked the accuracy of their fulfilled orders then this could have been avoided but that was not the case. read more

Worst sandwich place. We have been to this place once. And definitely will not go again. It's so bad none of us could finish our plate. The only good thing is the potato chips !! (yup, you are reading it correctly, the potato chips is the best thing they have). We have tried the brownie and it has ants in it. Moreover it looks like it's been there for a week or so. I LOVE this place on early mornings. The food is infallibly good. Don't get me wrong though, it's not out-of-this-world amazing -- but Panera definitely gets the job done, consistently! It is packed during lunch peak hours and the weeks right before finals, but if you go in the mornings-- it's lovely! Really. With classical music playing, hot coffee, a whole grain bagel with butter and the newspaper, you can't go wrong. I don't always get food here, but their coffees are good, the pumpkin late is my hands down fave. It's a really relaxed location, and more than once I've come here with a classmate and had a prolonged study session without ever being bothered by anyone. Nice! A great lunch or dinner for $7 and change. And their chilled green tea is just the thing for an afternoon of studying. Sweet without being too syrupy and more flavorful than plain cold water. I don't go often since I don't live by it, but I usually enjoy my visit--when I can find somewhere to park my car and also somewhere to sit down and eat, that is. Normally, I love Panera. I love the broccoli cheddar soup, I love the bread, I even love the jazz music softly playing in the background. I don't even mind that this Panera seems to have no parking no matter what hour you come or the place is usually filled on week nights with studious college kids. No, I loved Panera through all that, but today Panera took a little bit of my cheese loving heart and crushed it. This Panera is usually it of bread bowls by 7 or 8 PM, which I think it a little odd. I mean, if you always run out, shouldn't you just start making more? Anyway, today all I wanted was a bread bowl wi my broccoli cheddar soup. But alas, they were out. But that wasn't all! They were omit of chicken, focaccia bread and macaroni and cheese! All my favorites! So, I ordered something a little different. It was good... When I finally got it. The pager they gave us they apparently forgot to actually link to our order. So I sat in hungry angst waiting for my Panera food. I tried to forgive Panera when they dismissed us with our lukewarm food. But then... Then they gave us ciabatta bread that wasn't. Their excuse was that it might have been made later in the day so it looked weird. I wasn't great and that's supposed to be Panera's specialty: bread! Dear Gainesville Panera, I loved you. I enjoy eating here, the food is good and the employees are nice, but it really annoys me that the Panera website offers delivery and I've seen the delivery cars parked out front of the place often, but you won't deliver to my address that is 3 miles away. 1st is parking which is not great. There are many popular places to eat in the strip mall so parking is tough. When I was there people were parked all around the building and against the sidewalk. However, it seems there is more seating inside than indicated by the parking. On to the food. I like panera. Nice fresh salads and yummy sandwiches and soups. If you want to study this is a nice place. When I was there it seemed 1/3 of the people were studying. read more

This is a mixed review because I love Panera. In fact, when my family and I go on a road trip across the country, we tend to look for Panera's for breakfast, lunch and dinner because the food and service is consistent, the facilities clean and the menu is generally tasty and healthy as far as counter service food places go... Having said that, Panera in Gainesville leaves something to be desired and the management can make some simple changes to improve the experience significantly. We typically call in a phone order 3-5 times a month. This is no exaggeration: 3 out of 4 orders is missing an item. When we pick up our food, we carefully unpack and audit what is a straightforward order because it is more often wrong than not. The worst part about this is when we go to the counter to ask for our missing food, the staff often tries to blame the customer. Since we live a little out of the way, we don't typically call or go back to correct the order, but I finally had enough. Example 1: They gave us our CARRYOUT food in a bag, we paid, they said we're all set. We did our audit and saw that our sandwiches were missing. When we went back to the counter and asked for the sandwiches, the staff said we should have gone to a different counter and waited for our buzzer to vibrate. What buzzer? So we said ok, this is a callin carry out order. They said we should still have known this and was quite edgy in their response. We get callin carryout all the time. This is the first we've heard that after we pay for our food, they say "all set" ... that we should know to ask for a buzzer and go wait the sandwich area for our sandwiches. Shouldn't they all be in the bag? Example 2: We get a cinnamon roll in every order. They miss it almost every time. This was the beginning of our Panera audit process. After 4 missed cinnamon rolls, I finally called and spoke with a supervisor. She was dismissive, took a tone that why am I even calling and why am I providing feedback. Look, I'm not looking a free cinnamon roll or even to get a cinnamon roll on a future visit to compensate for my missed cinnamon rolls. What I said is that they should introduce a simple step in their order process: One person at the end of the order and packaging process should audit all the items in the bag before handing it to the customer and making them pay for product that is not in the bag. She said, "look, we'll give you a cinnamon roll in the next visit!" She totally missed my point -- I just want my cinnamon roll on the morning that I ordered it - not next time I come in. All in all, most Panera's are great. Never had a problem in all the years I frequented the Evanston Panera. The morning shift supervisor carefully checked every bag as far as we could tell. One, two, maybe three inaccurate orders could be chalked up to a situational mistake that you shrug your shoulders at... seriously, check your carryout every time or you will miss your equivalent of a cinnamon roll -- and they won't acknowledge your concern when you try to correct it. Dismissive, rude, lack of quality control and service. I would have never used those words to describe Panera anywhere else, but at the Gainesville Panera. Note to Panera: Don't take your upward growth for granted. Pay attention to customer service details, because someone else will come in and overtake you in the market - they can match your product, but service can be a differentiator. Or simply find an alternative to Panera. I know we are in Gainesville, but we'll continue to go to Panera's elsewhere. read more

Things that I like about it: -salads -sandwiches -dr. pepper is actually served here Things I don't like about it: -busy almost all the time -kind of pricey for what it is -only have 4 booths in the whole place which are always taken -students who go there and study and order a drink and then there are no tables for people who are in and out in 30 minutes who are actually buying food. People order some food or go study at a library. And don't take up the last table for 4 hours while I have no where to sit. Word. -lastly, what's up with those water cups. they are super tiny. do you want a real big boy sized water cup? guess what, that's extra. By far must inconvenient visit to Panera, I order a green goddess salad with chicken to go and got a seasonal greens instead (I discovered this when I got all the way home). I drive back and asked them to remake the order with the right salad and they got on it. They had me back the salad, but it's missing the chicken. I understand if you are new but seriously? Not to mention only half a slice of avocado was in my salad (in the picture looks like there are about 4-5 slices). I normally like to visit Panera's when I'm away from home and don't know a good local breakfast place. I made the mistake of going to Panera's on 24 in Gainesville this morning. As usual in most college towns, this place was staffed with college kids. After ordering my food I went to get a cup of coffee only to find the urn empty. I asked the college freshman is she had a full one ready to go? No, she said, I'll make some more. So I ate my breakfast without coffee. After finishing, I had to wait another 7 minutes for her to bring the fresh coffee out. When I poured my cup, I discovered that it was "warm" at best. How hard is it to brew a pot of hot coffee?!?! I decided to leave and go across the street to Starbucks for my HOT coffee! Lesson learned, never visit Panera's in Gainesville again. The student workers don't care. Panera has been my go-to study spot for something like ten years. I used to LOVE eating here, as the roast beef asiago sandwich they had was excellent. It used to also be $6.50 or so. They used to also have a pretty good mushroom panini. They changed their menu SIGNIFICANTLY around two years ago, and they started eliminating all of the good sandwiches while the prices continued to creep up past $8.00. I am not picky when it comes to sandwiches--usually I can find several sandwiches I like at any restaurant--but there is not a single sandwich at Panera that is a good value for me now. The steak and arugula is OKAY but not great, and the portion size is too small for the price. The veggie sandwich tastes quite good and is cheaper, but it's just way too small and not filling for the price. Their pastries are all overpriced and not very good. Everything is super sugary rather than savory, and there is no real reason to buy fresh bread there (like $8 for a loaf that is way too big unless you have 6+ people in your family). This particular location has friendly staff and plenty of seating. It's only super crowded at absolute peak lunch time and on Sundays. It's still a very good place to go and get coffee (the coffee is pretty good for free refills), but it's a huge shame they miss the mark so badly with all their food. read more
