We only use Panera to buy bread or bagels. The selection of bread is spotty. We like the honey wheat bread but they rarely have a loaf on the shelf. They do not make pumpernickel bagels which are my favorite. Sometimes the shape of the bageles is not consistent. So when the bagle is toasted a portion gets burned and dry and a portion does not get warm. Other times the bagle is too thin. I usually stop here on my way to work and treat myself to an Asiago, Bacon, Cheese Breakfast Sandwich. These sandwiches are delicious! I stopped this morning and they were out of Asiago Bagels. RING THE ALARM! LOL. But the girl behind the counter was very accommodating about it. She explained on Fridays they're very busy. It's a running joke among staff that they named Fridays there Bagel Friday's. She did offer me the Asiago Bread instead but I choose the Whole grain bagel. Gotta have my bagel ya know. I am a huge fan of Panera but this location has steadily gone down hill since it first opened. I am in this area for work often and this used to be one of my favorite places to go. The last few times I have been here, service has been extremely slow, waiting almost 20 minutes for my food. They also seem to be out of something each time. I don't typically go during high volume times either, usually between 2-4:00 in the afternoon. I can't imagine what it would be like when they have a rush. I will continue to go to Panera, but not this one. There are a lot of other options in this area for lunch where I can get good food and better service. read more

I've ordered from this Panera before with no issues. Today I ordered a small group lunch and everything was pretty tasty until I got to my chicken tortellini. Most of it tasted pretty good, but a good chunk of the noodles were dried out and clumped together like they'd been reheated in a microwave. It made them chewy and not at all malleable or flavorful. I haven't heard from anyone else so I assume this was the only issue. If zero stars were an option, i'd rate this panera 0. The staff is absolutely horrible. Completely disregard your presence and very rude. They burnt our bagels until they were black, didn't call our name when the food was ready, made the wrong drink and then didn't fix it so had to buy a whole other $5 drink. I've been to many different Panera's before but I was especially impressed with the attention to detail at this location. I ordered the you-pick-two option with many customizations (ie Thai Chicken Salad with no dressing, peanut sauce on the side, no crispy wontons) and they got everything right. The service was quick and very friendly. In regards to the food itself, I wasn't overly impressed. There was barely any chicken on my Thai chicken salad and the pita for my Mediterranean Chicken Pita didn't taste fresh. The worst Panera Bread I've ever ordered from.. The manager is very passive aggressive.. After asking if this location no longer toasted their expensive sandwiches, she indicated my particular sandwich is normally cold unless specified.. I then stated I did in fact specify in the special instructions that i wanted the sandwich toasted.. and the receipt also indicated that.. she wasn't pleased with having these facts and told me she would normally correct the issue but since she didn't like my "tone" she wasn't doing anything to correct their mistake.. Extremely rude... I ordered a dirty chi tea. Never have been to a panera that did not know what that was. I was given a regular chi tea. Not a problem.. I went to the counter and ask nicely to give me the correct order. The manager laura said "we are not Starbucks...we don't know what that is" and gave me a dirty look. I explained that it was an added shot of espresso and that I have never been to starbucks. She walked away and gave me back my drink about 5 minutes later slammed it on the counter and walked away. If you don't have people skills don't be a manager. Good selection of all the sandwiches, salad, drinks and bakery. The staffs are very nice and friendly here. Only thing that I don't really like is their music. Last time I visited was trying to do some work with my laptop. Sitting there about almost 2 hours and they have only 2-3 songs kept playing over and over again which drives me crazy. We got there at 6 o'clock on a Friday night and it was pretty empty. The girl that took our order was pleasant. We each ordered the pick 2. I got the steak with white cheddar on a baguette with New England clam chowder and he got broc and cheese soup w a turkey sandwich. My sandwich was no bueno. It was basically a bunch of red onions between two pieces of baguette with a few slivers of what appeared to be roast beef on it. It wasn't very hot and neither was my soup. I was starving so scarfed it down anyway. Ever had room temperature clam chowder? I don't recommend that you do either. I regretted every bite of it. Even their fresh warm cookies weren't fresh! I'm not sure how this place only gets one $, it's $10 for a basic sandwich. You could go to the grocery store, buy artisan bread and fresh cut lunch meat and cheese for a group of people at the same price. The food was good, the service was nice, I have nothing negative to say about any of that. Just the pricing for premade food is bothersome. Absolutely horrible. Ordered one chipotle avocado chicken sandwich and all I got was two pieces of bread with nothing else. Also, I ordered a WHOLE tuna sandwich and got a small scoop of tuna big enough to fill one of their small soup spoons. Unfortunately I did not have a very good experience at this Panera. For starters, I had to wait close to 30 minutes to receive my salad (not horrible given the busy location) While waiting I overheard a staff member say to another "If people get mad I just tell them sorry and that they have to wait. I'm not sure what else they want me to do". You might want to get your employees to have those types of conversations elsewhere and not within earshot of customers. It's about taking ownership for the business you work for. During my waiting I also saw several people bring orders back that had issues, missing things, dirty utensils ect. On top of all of this, my salad had no dressing and I did not have time to go back. When I called they said they would put me in the customer log to get a free salad and the gentleman was nice on the phone but I unfortunately will not be back. So I travel. I've always found Panera to have a good product, fast service and located in convenient locations. This particular location stood out to me though not in such a positive way. The ground is littered with receipts, garbage, napkins, etc. I would understand if it was a busy "dinner" time but the restaurant has a handful of patrons, well staffed and there hasn't been more than 6 customers in the past 30 minutes. Can't be a shift change situation since there is 90 minutes to close. Pagers are overflowing and dishes are stacked high. I guess what compelled me to jump on here is more so the behavior of a couple staff members at the registers. It's apparent customer service is not their top priority nor are the comments and conversations they're having while I was in line and off to the side eating. Cooks were very pleasant and food was made quick! Either way I'll still support the Panera brand though will definitely be dining at other locations when visiting Independence OH. read more

I have a hard time accepting Panera in total. The food is always pretty good, and sometimes really good. The prices are what kills me. When my wife and I go to eat there, it ends up being like $21.00 I get half a small sandwich and a very small portion of pasta. You could easily go to a more traditional restaurant, sit and be waited on, and pay almost the same amount. The foods not bad, but we are all suckers for their prices. read more

This place really upset me because they have removed individual cups of soup from their menu. If you want a cup of soup you have to get a you pick two. Obviously they still have cups and they still have soup, they just refuse to sell it to you in an attempt to make you spend more money and consume more calories than you want to. I absolutely love Panera. Every time I go and meet someone somewhere, I choose Panera. Great food, always clean, quiet and comfortable atmosphere, and unlimited coffee! How could you not get excited about that?!? I'm rating this place a three star because they have all that except friendly staff. I've been going into this Panera for years now and for some reason every time I go in there, the managers seem over stressed and not polite; which then trickles down to the other staff around them. Again, I love everything about this place and will choose to still come here (mostly because it's closest to my home), but I will not rave about it in no means because of the staff being non-friendly. Often I find myself wanting to ask the managers..."How are you doing?" "Are you okay?" "Everything alright?" - But I'm not sure that would help.
