I really hate to leave a below average or bad review of a place based only on price, but it's really the main thing I didn't like about this restaurant. It looks clean and open, the staff was sufficiently helpful and polite, and the food was okay. It wasn't great, but not bad either. We got a soup and sandwich combo, and a soup to go. The sandwich was loaded with lettuce, which we removed, leaving very little to the sandwich. The soups were average size, just enough I guess. It was actually very tasty and hearty. We also got a smoothie, again just an average size. The final price was $37. This was not a $37 meal! Three of us ate full meals at a sit down Mexican restaurant the night before and it was only $46! It's simply a matter of rather small helpings of okay food just not being worth the price they charge. The soups are good. The prices are bad. read more

I used to have a Zoup where I live, but it closed down. I always looked forward to the Beer Cheese soup every fall. I was so excited to find this restaurant while I was in the area. I really hate leaving reviews less than 4 stars, much less giving a place only 2 stars, but I really did not like my experience getting a "quick" dinner here recently before going to see a movie at the nearby Cinemark. I can see why no one else was in the restaurant when we were even though it was dinner time on a Friday. The lady taking our order answered her freaking phone in the middle of my order so I just had to stand there and wait. Wtf? The kitchen and prep area was messy and food scraps were everywhere. The soups all had a film on them too. I got the half turkey bacon club and a tiny cup of chili in the you pick two "deal." (LOL this ain't no deal!). The soup was way too hot. They need to turn down the burners. The sandwich was okay - probably one of the best options on their menu. The bread was quite good. However, they also didn't add mustard to my sandwich like I had asked for. There definitely was a language barrier, but I mean, come on. At least try to be nice to me! The price for what we got was outstandingly bad. It was even worse than Panera! I guess I would rate this Zeats location a 3.5 for food and 1.5 for service. Many soup varieties to choose from and there are new soups relatively often. The soups in general are densely packed with flavor, in my opinion not at all salty, and fresh tasting. Tis' the season for soup, er, zoup. I particularly enjoy the variety of soup here, I think they have around 10 different soups daily. The handsome young feller working offered us samples of whichever one we wanted to try; I felt like I was at the ice cream store. I got a side of soup which can be paired with a half sandwich or salad. I chose a half salad with the lobster bisque (which was FULL of lobster, yum) and it was plenty of food. I got a fountain drink and my meal was less than $10. I couldn't finish everything as it was a thick soup and my niece was being a 2-year old and we had to see Santa. Got the power quinoa salad. Only power I got out of it was sliding my credit card through the machine. Two pieces of very small avocado in it. Lettuce was junky. FIX YOUR LINES AND EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. There are two clear signs posted when ordering food. 1.) If you do not know what you want and want to sample soup, line. 2.) You know your exact order and would not like to waste your time behind people sampling every soup, line. We came in and immediately went to the #2 line and a worker told us that there is only one line and we had to stand in the #1 sample line no matter what... NEWS to us, been going there for a while. Ordered a ham and bacon sandwich the bread was so hard I couldn't bite through it even with my back sharpest test. The inner contents was so thin I could only taste bread. Especially when I say which soup I want and end up with something completely different. Moral of the story always look at your receipt when they give it to you. Everytime I check-in to Zoup on foursquare they message me on Twitter with a simple thanks and sometimes a question or two. I am always amazed when I come across Zoups in my travels and of course always wish they were found in more locations. Though a chain - they have an amazing soup and sandwich selection for good prices. Being a vegan, they always have a minimum of 1 soup I can eat, which is a plus. All of their sandwiches can be "pressed" - I love a warmed sandwich with warm soup on a cold day - perfect lunch! My favorite thing about these restaurants is the consistency of service. Obviously if you're not a soup fan, this isn't the place for you. They do have sandwich and salad options but those are downplayed to the dozen or so soup choices each day. The soup is really good. I've been there twice and have done a cup with a sandwich. I do feel this is a bit pricy for the atmosphere and type of restaurant it is. For soup and a sandwich I feel that I like the quality of food at Panera a little better. Zoup just has more options as far as soup goes. This location gets very busy at lunch and the line can get slow. You'll definitely have to prepare for that. All of the staff were patient while I took my time trying to decide what to order and they were friendly as well, even offering up all of their soup selections for me to sample. For $8.25 I was able to get a lunch combo meal consisting of 8oz of soup with a bread roll, and half a sandwich. I opted for the Turkey Club and the Chicken Pot Pie soup, both were enjoyable and very filling. And by filling I mean I just had to undo my belt and my eyes want to close for nap time. A co-worker got half a salad with their combo and it was still a nice size and looked tasty. I would probably go for that next time since I over did it on the carbs on my first visit and now my food baby is definitely showing. Just remember this is is a chain. You won't find anything fancy or fresh from the garden here, you also won't find that soup your grandmother won a ribbon for, but you will find a decent lunch at an affordable price served by some pleasant staff.
