I must be slightly addicted to Panera bread. I used to go there occasionally when I had a car. And when I was driving my daughter to school occasionally out that direction I pretty often stop there for coffee and a bagel or pastry. And then I had a couple of occasions, where I ordered bagels for morning pick up and got there to find that they had no everything bagels that I had ordered. I live downtown and last year I got rid of my car so recently for some reason I tried order/delivery from Panera again. A couple of times I got delivery of 13 bagels +2 tubs of cream cheese. But the cream cheese was missing! Sure they gave me a refund , but that really didn't solve my problem! But I have kept trying for whatever reason. Today they were offering 50% off on some new additions to their menu. I'm a geezer sucker for discounts. I ordered a tomato basil BLT. Very disappointing. Only a vague hint of the thinly sliced tomatoes. The basil is not in the sand but in the bread but only mildly. Supposedly garlic in the sandwich but you couldn't prove it by me. And $10+ which would be overpriced for what I got except for the 50% off. I think I have to give Panera bread a rest again for a while. There are plenty of choices and there is a good bagel place right on Rivermont just across the bridge from downtown. read more

We stopped by the Lynchburg Paneras today for a quick to go coffee and roll. We were greeted but pretty much ignored after that. The lady working to bakery was busy counting bagels.. Finally we realized we were not going to be helped so we ordered from the kiosk. So then we stood by the bakery waiting, assuming that she would then grab our 2 bakery items and coffee and off we would go. No, she told us we had to wait in the area where you pick food up when you are dining in. We waited 10 minutes when she literally could have just turned around and grabbed our items. We finally got our rolls and they were horrible. The coffee was burnt. I am a picky coffee person but my husband drinks gas station coffee....he couldn't drink it. My chocolate croissant was hard a rock. My husbands cinnamon roll was like a gas station pastry. We will not be going back. read more

The Panera restaurant on Old Forest Rd in Lynchburg has serious issues when it comes to wait times. Today my order wasn't ready when I arrived to pick it up in the store AND it wasn't even logged in yet to be prepared!!! Using this app is a huge part of the problem and staffing is the biggest issue. This Panera restaurant is notorious for extremely long wait times and orders being incorrect. It is VERY frustrating. HIRE MORE STAFF AND TRAIN THEM TO BE VIGILANT WHEN PREPARING ORDERS. Poor work habits of the staff is a problem. This is not rocket science. Stop hiring staff that have a poor work ethic. read more

The worst Panera I've been to by far. I travel for work and go to a different Panera EVERY morning. Unfortunately, the leadership and cust. service in this location is non-existent. I asked for egg on my Croque, and was told no, when I order this every morning in any location. After mentioning that fact, the gentleman tells me, "Well, you can't get it at this store", so I ask if that was the GM saying that, or corporate. He tells me it's corporate, which was a boldface lie OR other locations are pre customer friendly. I immediately go inside to get my coffee, using a company card to pay, I planned to tip the cashier with cash, the manager tells me they don't give change to tip. So you don't take care of your customers, and you don't take care of your staff...no wonder they have a 3.5 star google and a less than a 2 on Yelp reviews. Step it up Lynchburg Panera. Corporate, It's time to replace that GM Christina Butler, she is not your answer. I'm an RM with my organization and this kind of service needs a complete overhaul. This is my second bad experience in this same location & I've only been here twice when checking on my own work location in Lynchburg. The reviews are spot on, just wished I read them first. Ordered onion soup and chicken frontega sandwich. There was no cheese or breadcrumbs on the soup and all that was on the sandwich was chicken and sauce, no onion, tomato or other ingredients that make the sandwich what it is. It's disappointing that this location is so bad. Every time I leave feeling annoyed and wanting to write a review, and this time I caved. The store has terrible customer service. They're always out of foods, the wait times are 20+ minutes, and half the time, the workers are snippy. The store itself could use some work. Nobody has cleaned the vents in a while, tables are messy, just a little upkeep is required to fix it. This is the only Panera where I've seen this before, and it's like this every time I go. I still go because the food is still Panera food, I'm not an animal. But the service just gets me worked up and I give this place 1/10. read more

I never write negative reviews on yelp but I have consistently come here through the past two or three years and have always left disappointed. The baguettes, bread bowls, etc. are always out by the afternoon and waits usually last twenty minutes or longer. I ordered the new Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. For reference it is an entire baguette, I cut the sandwich and the larger half had barely any chicken on it (view photo). I took it to the cook to show her and she notified me that it comes with two scoops of chicken, there should be no more added to my sandwich and the only thing that needs to be done is to "evenly distribute the meat". She further stated that "she had no more chicken cooked to give me". Lol. The cook basically didn't give a sh*t. The smaller half I had already started eating before discovering the lack of protein on the larger half was ok as you can see in the photo. Side note, the sandwich is not the worth the hype. I've placed rapid pick-ups three days in a row now due to a time crunch I have between places I need to be and every time for the past 3 orders it has been 45 minutes late. This is an issue with online ordering. I ordered items an hour and a half prior to pickup for my boy who requested this and had been sick and it was his birthday. Arrived at the time that I stated on the app, only to find that they had not kept those items for me to pick up and they were "sold out for the day," even though they showed available on the app as I ordered. I was told they bumped my order,... so take this as advice that they will not secure the things that are available at the time of your order. I'm giving a 5 star for their customer service. I would say never go through the drive through unless you want to sit forever. No lie. But anytime I've had a problem with an order, they are so quick to rectify the situation. Today, my coupon which expired today didn't work and I just went inside to show them, I had already paid for my order. It was unexpected but the cashier rang up a $5 gift card because of it and gave it to me. That was just one example. You can look at reviews and see that maybe this Panera is struggling a bit but their willingness to try to right any order wrongs is consistent. This panera is a newer one and they haven't seemed to solve whatever issues they're having to be able to get good reviews but if you're not satisfied, let them know and I can assure you they're more than willing to try to make up for messed up orders or just long wait times. They are trying. So 5 stars for effort. read more

Don't expect the curbside pickup to be fast. It's not. It's always slow, but today was slow on a whole new level. I ordered a single item (coffee) and got a notification on my phone that the order was ready and someone would be showing up at my car soon, no one showed up. Despite no one in the drive thru and the other curbside pickup parking spots being empty the entire time, I gave up after waiting 15 minutes. Note - this was not 15 minutes since I put in the order. No, this was 15 minutes after I was informed that my order was ready and someone would be coming out to my car "shortly". Sure enough, after finally going inside, my single cup of coffee was sitting on a counter near the food prep area and by this point has ceased to be hot. Remember, this was a single cup of coffee, not a complex order! I shudder to think how they would have handled a more complex order. read more

I have been ordering delivery at least once a week since I moved here a month ago. Panera is one of the only places that delivers to me with a reasonable minimum delivery fee. And honestly it's a chain but it's good tasting food with a creative menu. This place in particular always gets my order right no matter what I change. AAAAAND pays attention to special instructions to make sure I'm getting exactly what I want. Website down? App messing up? No problem these guys go out of their way to explain any item on the menu. I'm gonna be honest I've never actually timed them getting here so I can't really comment on their punctuality for delivery but I've never felt like I was starving and waiting by the door, guess it's good. So yeh, considering I don't have a car and the HEALTHY delivery options are limited in Lynchburg, I'm pretty stoked to have this Panera. read more
