I would've given this place a 5 had the guy who took my order informed me chips came along with a meal. The food was great. The other attendant who actually gave me the food said are you sure you don't want chips... I said oh no that's ok (I had never been to a Panera bread) I think they were extra money. Each and every time I order via Rapid Pickup, there is either a mistake or an item is out of stock. Normally when something like this occurs, the manager during the day will compensate me with a drink or dessert. That small gesture means a lot to me considering that I am a busy teacher and I can't afford to lose time. I just returned from the Matteson location this evening after placing an online order and of course, they were out of an item for my sandwich. I approved a replacement which meant I had to wait but when I asked for a dessert to compensate for my time, the manager, Cinque, also known as CJ, told me that had to pay for it, although the item was only one of 2 left 1 hour before the store was scheduled to close. I asked for a refund but this guy did not seem to care about the implications of a dissatisfied customer. The new cafe on 175th and Halsted is scheduled to open tomorrow and I will do business there until they do something to lose my business. read more

This panera bread location is horrible. I picked up a coffee with plain bagel this morning. I got to work and open the bag. My bagel has some green stuff all over the bottom of it like it had been dropped in something then picked up. Before today I order a earl grey tea. I was given the tea in the drive up but the lid had lipstick all over it like it had been used before. I immediately pulled over went inside and asked for a manager. There was no apology just here's a cup get some hot water and make it yourself. There are health code violations that need to be addressed. read more

Read other review about how their drive thru isn't up to par but decided to stop by anyways because I love bagels. First time going to a Panera drive thru too which was nice since getting out of the car is always a drag. I wasn't going to check my bag before driving off because I only got a toasted Asiago bagel with cream cheese. Luckily I did... opened the bag.. no cream cheese. Had to reverse a little and the girl said "whoops it was in the other bag". Why was there another bag though. Drove off and realized there was no knife either.. girl said, "how'd we forget to give her a knife?!" I wondered the same thing. I only asked for a bagel and cream cheese it's not rocket science. I couldn't imagine what happens if you get a more complex order. Bagel was ok, barely toasted, still cold, cream cheese like oozed really weird and dripped onto my leg. But hey, what can ya do. This Panera gets 5 stars from me, it's the least I can do! My best friend and I spent countless days/nights in here studying for nursing school, and ALWAYS had a pleasant experience. The staff never bothered us when we would have books stacked on our table, or the fact that we would be at a table for 10 hours studying. Granted we would place an order (most of the time), but I will always have a true appreciation for the staff and management here for providing us a place to study with an amazing atmosphere! Now, I go out of my way to spend my money at THIS location whenever I do eat Panera. They deserve my support and will always have it. The food and service is amazing! Job well done. read more

It has been awhile since I have been to a Panera, I won't be going back soon. I order and at the end of the order process I am asked to leave a tip. A tip is for good service. First I stand in line to order and pay, then I go back and get my food, then I clean my own table. Why am I giving a tip? If I say no to a tip is someone going to spit in my food? Plenty of other places to eat. If you can't afford to pay your employees then raise your prices. read more

The drive thru is the absolute worst! It always takes forever no matter what time of day you get there. I've been waiting in line for nearly 15 minutes (with one other person ahead of me) and when I finally pull up to order, the first thing I get is "please hold". It's absolutely ridiculous! read more

I love the food here. All the sandwiches, teas and soups I've had here have always been made fresh and the employees are nice. It's on the pricey side, but the quality, portions and taste make it worth it. Good place for families, work lunch or a casual meal. read more

I honestly didn't mind the one cashier they had with 5 people in line, or even the 14 minute wait for my food. This is probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Isn't Panera Bread suppose to be about sandwiches, salads, and soup!? It's 10am, and they didn't have any soup made. I honestly didn't want Panera after that especially at this location. This Panera has a drive thru and it took 20 minutes of waiting for my food around 3pm!!! There was a long line outside and all I wanted was to order one drink. By the way, I don't think it's a good idea to even have a drive thru option for Panera since their food selection takes awhile to prepare any way! When they finally took my order, they got it wrong so they told me to park my car up front and someone will bring the drink to my car. Well I waited for 10 more minutes until someone did bring it outside. The frozen mocha didn't even taste like a frozen mocha that Panera usually makes. It was too sweet and mostly mixed with chocolate syrup. I could even see the chocolate syrup on top! It tasted awful that I didn't even finish it and threw it away. I've never had a negative experience with the service inside but the drive thru was unorganized and slow. read more

There is a woman named Monica who works there and she is kind, funny, and very entertaining. I visit the Panera in Matteson, not only to see her smiling face, but to converse with a well-educated woman who makes all my dinners there enjoyable. She also makes a great smoothie too. I just don't understand why she isn't a manager considering she is so people-orientated and she treats everyone with dignity and respect. Love Panera food for lunch! The frontera chicken sandwich, southwestern chicken sandwich, the cookies especially the duet and shortbread, and all of the soups are delicious! Employees Chris and Vickie always go way above and beyond. They are warm, friendly, and always have smiles on their faces. Plus my food comes out quickly. Would recommend to anyone. read more
