The Matteson OG unit is declining, friday arriving 6pm. not full at all waited 6 minutes for host to seat party of 2, then once we placed our order for the spicy chicken appetizer waited 40 minutes for appetizer, ordered app way before soup/entree dish, staff apologized for app delay but here we are eating soup and app same time. We stayed till 7:30 restaurant never filled for a friday night out during it's peak period. Perhaps a sign of things to come? Of note, the couple who arrived after us had the same app problem and also complained, this time manager came out and comp their app. instead our server gave of several bowls of soup to go home, fair enough....Server apologized when I asked for Black Pepper telling me it's on table she just re-set, as previous customers she just served at our same table asked for pepper so she knew it was there, well it wasn't, so she was frustrated they must have taken it home with them and apologized for her anger with me asking for it. but she was not happy and commented loudly about the kitchen staff messing with her service tips letting us know she has 6 children...... It's been almost 20 years since I had Olive Garden and honestly all I could remember was the breadsticks were good. Hanging at a friend's house her Aunt says they're ordering from here. There's already 2 orders of Shrimp Alfredo so I made it 3, it felt safe. We had a fairly large order and it arrived in an hour. Everything was in the bag and packed well. The Alfredo was just ok, better after adding some Cajun seasoning to spruce it up. There was a good amount of shrimp and they were cooked well. Someone ordered ravioli and I wish I had ordered that, the little taste I got was good. I appreciate the meal including a salad and 2 breadsticks which were as good as I remember. The service was top drawer the bartender was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing. He made us a really good drink and I absolutely enjoyed it. Emailed Olive Garden corporate customer service and never heard back. SMH. Went to this Olive Garden on Easter and let me tell you. Never again. There were 2 waiters in our area only and both of them left us without even a hello for THIRTY minutes before they proceeded to ARGUE in front of our table about whose table it was. WOW!!!!! First off. I ordered the soup and salad. Two different soups to go. Gnocchi and a Minestrone. Got home after a half hour drive and both soups were minestrone. Called and they acted like they took my name down and number and said I had a week. Now I live no where near the restaurant but happened to be out there two days later so I stopped by. Walked in and there was no one to greet anyone. No one for 15 minutes so I walked around to the to-go area. All of wait service were in a corner playing around and not doing a thing. Finally got someone at To-go. Now I am told that they do not take names down and was hassling over a soup. I am not here to steal a "soup" just want what's right. My husband and a good friend of ours dined her last night. We sat at the bar, had a couple of beverages . Started to get hungry, so our amazing bartender offered to bring out our salad and bread. We didn't even have to ask! She was very attentive throughout the entire evening! I was so impressed, as she seemed very young. I wish I would have asked her for her name. For starters, the food was not the issue. It was tasty, it is the understaffing that has been an issue. By no means is this towards the actual employees. The hostess was really rude, not a good first impression for walking inside. However, our waitress was extremely kind. I forgot her name but she has facial piercings, black hair, and winged eyeliner. That being said, waitress if you read this you're amazing for what you do, but you had way too many tables to tend to. This is for this location here in Matteson. Please treat your employees with respect and empathy. It was a quiet, and pleasant ambiance however. We waited a long time for drinks, appetizers, and the meals. I don't leave reviews but I had a terrible experience with my waiter Bobby, not only overbearing but me and my sister were really uncomfortable. He kept coming back to our table even standing there or crouching next to our table talking to us while we were trying to eat. demanding certain things and at a certain point kept making comments about us going back to his place or cooking for us at his place, making drinks for us or going on dates. Had no sense of boundaries and couldn't get the hint, near the end of our experience he asked for my number being extremely uncomfortable I gave him it but he wouldn't just let me put my number in, instead he kept telling me to give him my phone so I did, Just so he could leave. when me and my sister were on our phones in front of him as he picked up our plates he immediately turned sour and rude saying stuff like "guess we won't be going on a date, guess that's a no for a date etc" He also kept asking for our id's being a bartender and our waiter I guess that's normal but I told him I wasn't 21 and didn't want an alcoholic drink he kept demanding my id anyways we weren't even in the bar area. Also made sexual jokes while I was eating my Alfredo. Really unsettling he said more things but this just sums up our experience. This is the worst Olivia Garden I have ever eaten at. The waitress was so slow we had to wait 20 minutes for each item she brought up. Our food got cold waiting for the rest of our meal. Why is there never anyone tending the bar!???? Here's the thing. This particular Olive Garden Use to be a nice Matteson staple. It Use to be busy and was well staffed. Now not so much. I remember about 15 years ago I use to come here on my solo dates. I'd sit at the bar, bring a book eat decent food and drink good wine or a nice Long Island. Along with always having a designated bartender serving the bar who would always chit chat with me. So much so she knew my order by heart. I've tried to go a couple times recently but they literally NEVER have anyone to serve the bar. No one wants to sit at a table or booth alone. To me that's what the bar is for, a more casual dining experience. I can see the bar area being closed if this was a stand alone business with its own rules but this is a BIG Franchise. You expect places like Olive Garden, Chilis, red lobster etc to have their bar ready with staff. This isn't a by chance thing either...like a "oh the bartender is late" thing. This is everytime I go. So I stopped going. Along with how rude the host is. She has a very "so what you go do" energy about her. As if she tired of her job or maybe the pressure of being understaffed and having to deal. Either way, im not even a big Olive Garden girl, haven't been in over a decade before these few instances.
