I visited this Panera bread on my way to Hampton Virginia. I made a pitstop to stretch my legs and to get a bite to eat. This Panera bread has little parking directly in front of it however it is located in a larger plaza with ample parking. You just may have to walk a little bit, but it's not that bad. The establishment was extremely clean. You order all your food/drinks on the digital tablets that are available. You are also offered a digital screen so that you can see where your order is in the preparation line. When your meal is ready, you will hear your name called or you can look on the digital screen to see that it's ready. Overall, the establishment was clean. The employees were super nice, and I got my favorite bagel, which is a cinnamon raisin crunch. I also ordered a green smoothie to drink. Overall great location and I will return. read more

I visited in a sunny Saturday at peak lunch hours. Although it was a lot of people inside it was very quiet with a lot of seating options. I love the fact they have outdoor seating too. I typically order online at the kiosk. But I notice alot of people was standing in the line to order and there was only one cashier so I'm sure that could've been frustrating on both the customers and cashier. I have no complaints. Panera, for my family, is a splurge for breakfast or lunch. Today, my mom was craving bagels so we decided to go get a bakers dozen. Unfortunately, we really didn't enjoy any part of the experience. When ordering at the touch screens, it wouldn't let us select an everything bagel even though they were right there in the glass case. We went to the front to order and let them know what we wanted. While ordering, those bagels sold out from under us due to the drive through and someone packing drive through orders while they were ordering but no one packing in store orders while ordering. When asking what size spreads we want, there was no listing for individual sizes, just the tubs. We had to ask repeatedly what the prices were. We finally got checked out and she asked if we were eating in the restaurant or taking it to go. We said it was for there and waited for a while before asking where to pick up the food. She said she'd bring it out to us. My mom asked to verify it would be toasted and she said no, did we want it toasted. My mom said yes and that we were never asked. The girl looked around for a minute before saying she'd get it taken care of. When she brought them out, everything was thrown in a bag so we were trying to figure out which pieces went with which. They didn't give us plates, just napkins and plastic silverware. The food was good but the overall experience has made it so we won't be back. The place was quiet and fairly empty. It's Panera, so I don't really expect much -- but kiddos were starving and we needed a quick dinner stop. For whatever reason, they were very fixated on wanting cookies from Panera, so I found this place just off the highway and we stopped in for dinner. Lots of parking, so that was a bonus! It's also got a really nice patio set up - better than a lot of Panera locations. We ordered and went in to pick up our meals and then ate outside. I got the tomato soup and the mac and cheese - mostly a go-to for me. The mac and cheese was subpar for usual Panera fare. The kiddos wanted pizza, and I didn't even realize you could order pizza now at Panera!! So we got the cheese flatbread and that was a hit - they destroyed it, and the cookies. Overall, an average experience. We didn't interact really with the staff at all, so I can't speak to that or the dining room service since we picked up and ate outside on the patio. read more

This restaurant needs a DEEEEEEEP clean. The bathrooms are atrocious. I don't know how it passes any health inspections or why any self respecting manager of a restaurant would go into the bathroom at any point during the day and say "yes, this is fine, this is clean." Because it is not. The drink area has drink splatters in the back of it that you can tell have been there a while. The trash receptacle in the drink area is so grimy on the rim that you can tell the dirt has just been caked on and has been there a while as well. The location isn't huge and it looks pretty modern and nice but the cleanliness ruins the whole experience. Food was okay, but I am seriously concerned because if the bathrooms and common areas are so dirty, what does the kitchen look like? read more

I placed an order for half a sandwich and soup on 11/16. I opted for the frongeta chicken sandwich- which is my favorite, and I was beyond disappointed when I came home and opened the sandwich to see that it was thrown together so carelessly. The sandwich chard no trace of onion, a sliver of mozzarella, and 3 tiny town bits of basil. It is completely unacceptable to give such a mess of a meal to a paying customer. There aren't a lot of healthy places to eat in Mechanicsville so I come here a LOT. Obviously. I think I have like 20 check-ins from the last few months. The soups are terrific most all of the time though if you come late you may find your black bean soup has no black beans in it. Generally, I find it's always better to eat in here. Last time I ordered my food to go someone had made my sandwich with the end piece of the bread loaf and it was comically small. I'll add the picture with a banana for scale. The soups and salads are pretty much always bigger when you eat in the store as well. Crazy. Anyway, I don't know... it's pretty good and it hit the spot. Csshiers were bewildered on how to process a gidt card on the order in front of me, and a team of about 4 of them continued this for about 7 minutes, as the line grew behind me. Finally, someone opened another register, but it was amazing it took so long to do so. Also out of half and half on the coffee bar once we got our coffee. Panera's New Delivery Service: I LOVE that Panera is now delivering. I work from home and sometimes, frankly, just cannot get out (I am disabled as well) so delivery is a great option for me. I ordered in yesterday and had the Pick 2: Tomato Mozzarella flatbread & Apple Chip Salad w/chicken & vinaigrette (& the $0.99 brownie). It was all delicious! The salad was so fresh and I do not think I have ever tasted apple chips with as much flavor as the one's they put on the salad. It also had grilled sliced chicken which was very moist. The flatbread (I have had before), on the other hand, was a little disappointing this time. As I bit into it the oils dripped down as did chopped up tomatoes (flavor was not as good either). The previous time it came with sliced good tomatoes, but this time I had a measly one sliced tomato on it. This and the fact that I think Panera is just a bit pricey, not to mention delivery charge of $3 + tip expected is why I only gave it a '4 star' today! If looking for something different and usually good quality food, try Panera, but be prepared to spend almost $14 - 20 for one person (of course you could possibly split the meal as an option -lol). Steve the "Area manager" is awful and just kept saying I can't help you. The kiosk used my gift card money and then shut off from running out of battery. Then I go to order again and it has a $0 balance and Steve tries to tell me I didn't order and he can't do anything. So I have to pay again for the food. i went with a friend who is an avid panera lover, i on the other hand have never really been a big fan. sadly to say the service and quality of my visit did not change my opinion. The people in charge of putting the food out were very rude and seemed bothered by the guests. When i got my food the sandwich was poorly put together i mean hey, i know i'm eating fast food but sauce all over the outside of the bun??? come on now. I also ordered a frozen cold brew, it came with a cracked plastic cup, leaking my drink all over me, and when i asked the lady for a new one, again she seemed bothered. after eating half of the sandwich and drinking about a sip or two of the cold brew i felt sick to my stomach. the cold brew came with old chocolate or whipped cream! yay! never spend your hard earned money on overpriced hospital food! read more

Stopped here for linch. I got southwest chile lime salad. Ordered full size based on previous Paneras i had been to. This salad was HUGE. Lots of fabulous fresh greens, corn and probably a full size avacado. And lots of chicken. The dressing is just slightly spicy but good. I managed to eat half. Husband had the green goddess chichen.salad. His was also a very full bowl. He asked for no onions but got them so had to pick them off. Very clean restaurant. Good courteous service.
