Stopped here for linch. I got southwest chile lime salad. Ordered full size based on previous Paneras i had been to. This salad was HUGE. Lots of fabulous fresh greens, corn and probably a full size avacado. And lots of chicken. The dressing is just slightly spicy but good. I managed to eat half. Husband had the green goddess chichen.salad. His was also a very full bowl. He asked for no onions but got them so had to pick them off. Very clean restaurant. Good courteous service. The layout of this Panera is slightly different than the others I've visited, the only possible downside of which is that their displayed menu is limited (compared to other Panera's). My favorites were still up there though, and there is a sign that says to "see handheld menu for details & more menu choices." Forgot to order a cup of soup for preggers wife. To go order was brought out, and I asked if they could hold onto while I got back in line to order. Manager told me not to worry about it and gave to me for free. Coming from 15 years managing restaurants, I was impressed. The dollar amount didn't matter, it was the fact that he was going above and beyond. Definitely won my service for years to come. This new Panera location is much better it gives off a farmhouse decor feel which reminded me of Fixer Upper! Love everything about it. The drive thru is so convenient and you receive your food fairly quickly. Although the past couple times I have gone recently I noticed the drive thru hasn't been open and rapid pickup/online ordering hadn't been working. (I hope this gets fixed soon). There is ample parking, the outdoor patio seems more spacious, and a lot more seating indoors so you feel less on top of other people. All in all I think this new location was smart as Mechanicsville is forever growing! read more

Ordered the Napa chicken salad sandwich, hold the tomatoes in the drive thru. Barely had a tablespoon of chicken salad on each side of the sandwich and a couple pieces of lettuce. Most disappointing Panera sandwich ever. Pass this location and find another if you want your moneys worth. read more

Drive thru is nice perk. My biggest grief is the WiFi. At the old Panera, the internet worked great. Here it is so slow and constantly bumps you off so I just default to my personal hotspot now but wish that was not the case. read more

I've been very disappointed in the new drive thru option. Not only do I have to put the creamer in my own very hot coffee in the car when they could easily do it for me, but they are also very slow. This happens consistently every time I visit. Don't choose this option if you're trying to grab a quick coffee before work. You won't get the convenience factor of a drive thru at all. read more

Unfortunately not a good visit. Order was simple, two bowls of broccoli cheddar soup, one in a bread bowl and two Brittanys. The cashier was nice enough but asked us literally 5 times if it was for here or to go. When the gentleman running the soup to the table came by he half slammed the food down and rushed off. Looking down at the cup of soup I immediately noticed a hair. Walked up to the food counter to ask for another cup of soup. The 3 individuals back there didn't bother to stop or pause their conversation. The lady just made me a new cup and put it in the window without apologizing and hardly acknowledged me. Not ideal service. While dining and finishing up our meal I could hear the team members conversation the whole time and was surprised to hear the f-bomb amongst other curse words. I'm more surprised their supervisor or manager didn't seem bothered by it and the fact that it was being heard by guests. To sum it up, didn't feel welcomed and the food was mediocre. ALWAYS out of cinnamon crunch bagels. Last 4 visits, all before 9:30AM, found empty racks with nothing in the wings waiting. Typical response from employees. Who is running this place? Ordered the bluebery bagel sliced and toasted and it was deliverd just the way I wanted it, clean and crisp. Always enjoy the atmosphere here when there isn't a screaming little kid in there which there is at this moment haha. That's the only reason I'm doing it as four star and not five. Just a little too kid friendly at times. I can say I do enjoy the free wi if and the modern decorations. They are spot on for what you expect of a panera at this location. What happened to your prices???? Just ate in the Mechanicsville, VA store and experienced severe sticker shock! They've taken away the soup and sandwich (which was usually around $5-$6 bucks) and replaced it with "You pick 2".... Sounds the same, right? It's definitely not even close. I ordered the 1/2 Roast Turkey & Avocado sandwich which was so small, the avocado slice kept falling out. I'd estimate it was about 4" square by 2" high. The Chicken Noodle soup was mostly broth and I'd guess it to be about a cup in volume. The sandwich was mispriced by 20 cents which contributed to the whopping $8.59 for what I considered to be a kid-size meal. Adding coffee to that, along with my wife's Thai Chicken Salad pushed the lunch to over $18 bucks. Wow! For lunch??!?? I've eaten here since they opened years ago. With prices and portions like this, I won't be coming back. Just discovered my wife's Thai Chicken Salad was "a 1/2 salad"!!! What???? This Panera was a real let-down. I came in Saturday morning 930am and the place was dead. Ordered an egg & cheese on brioche with a yogurt cup. After 25 minutes, I asked about my order, they said they searched and couldn't find me...they offered to remake my food, but since it was barely warm (the cheese was still cold and hard) it was clear that just put it under a hear lamp. Went to a nice breakfast with my family before my son leaves to Missouri for the year. Everything was great until we went to place our order and encountered the cold, non-accommodating Tiffany at the front. She didn't say hi, clearly wasn't happy to see us, and was incredibly rude. It made me lose my appetite and I decided to not even order. I will never be coming back here as long as she is employed. I work in hospitality and would never treat my customers like that. Panera died when it switched locations. I used to frequent 2-3 time a week at the old location. Never had a problem out of the conservative 50 times I had been. I go in to the new location and after being treated like I was invisible for 20 mins and 30 minutes for one sandwich I have vowed to never go to a Panera again. Let me preface this by saying we are loyal Panera lovers who frequented the previous Mechanicsville location 2-3 times a week for either breakfast or dinner. We have been to this location a total of six times now. We haven't had a single positive experience. Our order has been incorrect all six times. We have ordered from our table, waited 20 minutes and had to ask about our order only to be told they never received it as their Wi-Fi had been down. No sign stating this upon entry. No real apology. Half and half containers have been filled with skim milk. "Iced coffee" has been "filled up" in the back with warm coffee. The inside is cramped and not nearly as comfortable as the previous location. While we expected kinks, we feel like they should have been worked out by now and this will be indicative of the service we will continue to receive. This is the third time I've visited Panera since they moved and this establishment has gone from really good to really bad! The first visit was approximately 10 days after they opened and none of the kiosks worked plus to get to the kiosk, you have to stand in line because it's in the same location as the order line. The second time there was nowhere to sit, the place is too small and the last time, yesterday, I wanted a salad a d they had no lettuce. So I decided to go to this Panera last minute and use the drive-through. I bought a sandwich and a lemonade. They told me they were out of lemonade after I paid and that I would have to pay more for a frozen one. And then they charged me full price for a frozen lemonade and they didn't refund me for the regular lemonade I never got. When I asked the drive-through employee about this they just brushed me off and told me that that was the correct price. I then went inside with my two receipts explaining the issue with the cashier, he told me that he wanted to just give me a pastry instead of going to his manager because this would take too much time. I had to wait in line behind several people just to speak with someone. I understand he didn't want to involve his manager, but all I wanted was to pay the correct price for the food I bought. I ended up paying over $16 for a sandwich and a drink. And a pastry I didn't want in the first place. Panera used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but it's really gone down hill over the past few years. It's service like this that makes me regret coming to Panera and causes me to rarely visit their restaurants anymore. I am so very disappointed with Panera Bread in Mechanicsville. I have been a regular customer of theirs since they opened, years ago. It seems that the past 6 months customer service and food quality has taken a major nose dive. I have been using the rapid pick up/ online ordering and they get my food wrong more often than right. I will include a picture of a breakfast sandwich that I ordered that was BURNT! They put the unburnt side up, so I didn't notice it was burnt until I had already driven away. Another time I placed a $50 order for rapid pick up- they gave me the wrong size drinks and they left out one person's order completely. I spoke to the manager of the Panera and all he did was say, "I'm sorry. I don't know why this happened". The customer service there has gone down hill as well, I get MUCH better service at McDonalds. The restaurant has been disgusting as well! The bathrooms are gross and several times I have been in there and there was NO SOAP!!! If you want good food and good service, DO NOT GO TO PANERA IN MECHANICSVILLE!!!! I went to the Panera in Mechanicsville this morning. I placed my order and drove to the window. I was paying with a gift card. It was taking a few minutes and the cashier told me it was too slow and asked if I would just pay for the meal. I told him I wanted to use my gift card, and he said, but it's taking too long, will you just pay for it. I told him one more time I wanted to pay with my gift card and he again asked me to just pay for it. I told him to keep the food, I was NOT going to pay for it, and drove away. I called the manager and spoke with Jessica who said she was sorry, he did not follow they protocol and should have asked for a manager. That was her entire solution. We have recently noticed how down hill this Panera has gone. First of all it's rarely clean (what are they paying the staff to actually do). The greens in the salad are WELL below average, compared to the other Paneras in the area. The cashiers seem annoyed to have to do their job.
